The post office creates a unique hand-stamped postmark each year to use from February 1– 15. People often send wedding invitations and Valentine's cards to the town to be re-mailed bearing the romantic postmark. Such local flavor is the perfect setting for a romance between a postmaster and a mail-carrier. Ms. Vannatter playfully sprinkles her book with plays on words such as "mail," "male," and "Priority Male."
