Escape into creative worlds of fiction with a multi-genre storyteller. A precocious reader from an early age, my early exposure to literature in many genres by a wide range of authors gave me an eclectic background and an intuitive grasp of storytelling.

My books all contain adventure, romance, history, suspense, and fantasy or whimsy. How these elements combine in a story determines its genre. This is why readers who enjoy my books often follow me across genres.

You'll find free chapters, recipes included in my books, maps, book extra features that tell the stories behind my stories, and more reader bonuses when you visit my website:

Ideas come to me in different ways. Sometimes they arrive out of the blue (I love when that happens). Other things that can set off ideas for me are someone's casual comment, a news story, a picture, an idle reflection, or people watching. :o)

How the idea for my Tales of Faeraven series formed is an example of my creative process. It started as a story I made up to entertain my bored young daughter while on a road trip. Long after she'd forgotten the story, it stayed with me, growing and evolving over a space of years.

Writers sometimes liken giving birth to a story with the biological process, and that's not far off.(less)

I’m a bit rushed with Cheyenne Sunrise releasing tomorrow, so I decided to let another author express a thought about reading this month. (Wish I’d written this.) “Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” ― Anna Quindlen, How Reading Changed My Life Reader … Continue reading Books are Travel →

“He dismounted and lifted his arms to Shae. Light as she was, he had to step backward when she leaned into him. He steadied them both, and then turned to instruct the groom. When Kai looked for her again, Shae was gone. A smile touched his mouth as he went through an archway in the inner curtain wall. He would keep his knowledge of Shae’s morning activities to himself.
