Emerald City ComiCon 2011
That's right… another ComiCon is in the books.
I've come to the conclusion that there is a direct, and inverse, correlation between how much fun I have at a con and how much pain I'm in at the end of it. For example, today I feel roughly 80 years old whenever I get up to walk around. Was it worth it? Undoubtedly, and without hesitation, YES!
You see, I absolutely love volunteering at Emerald City ComiCon. I've met some really great people and made some fabulous friends (Yes, Douglas, I'm looking at you, troublemaker!)… but also as a writer, it's a GREAT opportunity for networking.
I got the good fortune to work with con-favorite Wil Wheaton for the weekend, but he was only there Friday and part of Saturday, so I actually had time to do a little shopping and chatting with other guests.
Among the other highlights for me:
Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes, both of whom were very warm and friendly with everyone
Clare Kramer who is stunning and a sweetheart
Jasika Nicole who is also beautiful and charming as well as being a talented artist
Max Brooks, the talented writer of World War Z who also authored a GI Joe graphic novel that I got signed for my hubby.
I also managed to get a LOT more photos this year than last which is always a bonus.
I do also have to say that if you've never done time volunteering at a convention, I recommend you do so at least once in your life. It can be a truly amazing experience.
