Science shows that hot beverages are comforting and makes people more positive. We’ve been promised difficult emotions in coming episodes. Will hot beverages keep everyones spirits up?


Will there continue to be less than ten ­­­alco­holic beverages per episode? Or will ­there be another wedding?


Non-alcoholic cold beverages don’t make much of an appearence throughout the series. Forecast: continued low consumption.

Almost all occurrances of drugs and tobacco are ­centered around Sherlock. Is the drug use in His Last Vow and The Abominable Bride the start of a spiralling addiction, or will he get clean again?


When John and Sherlock first meet, Sherlock warns John that he plays the violin. But we haven’t seen him play much, except for in A Scandal in Belgravia.

Call me crazy, but I’ve been counting objects. I don’t write meta, but I wanted to chip in with my two cents. The best predictor for future behaviour is past behaviour, so these are my predictions for what to expect from season 4.

Now, I know very little about cinematography, so if there are rules about how to count these things, I have probably broken them. I’ve simply put down every time someone mentions, touches or in any way interacts with an object on screen. I have also included objects that are ignored by the characters but are prominent on screen because of the way they are filmed. If two people in the same scene interacts with the same object, I have noted it twice.

These visualisations show which objects appear in which episode. I also have statistics on the characters, so I am planning to make more visualisations if you like these.

Ooooh what great fun… I will definitely have a look at the trends predicted here. I’m awful at carrying out statistical analysis but I can make sense of other people’s work.

The drug use graph is the most interesting to me. It makes it even more obvious how purposefully they tuned it down.
