Guy tossed off his French Canadian persona, rubbed his face, gulped his wine and poured more cabernet into his shell and Paix's. The truth was not going to go over well. He'd deceived her as her ex had done. How could he blame her? He'd misrepresented himself and lied. He stalled answering her questioning look. His body begged him to wait. She was too enticing; her soft body pressed up against his side, her taut nipples straining against the silk of her top and her long legs, capped by the sheer material. He didn't dare look at her mouth. Her full bottom lip screamed out to him to nibble on it. Her eyes were too intelligent. If he looked into them, she'd know he lied to her. The lie would cut deep. She leaned on him for support and he stabbed her in the back like her ex.He had to assume his cover, Guy from Quebec, accent and all. But she didn't know about her brother. She'd sensed something was wrong. He could see it in her eyes, but in her world the definition of wrong meant her brother punched her ex in the face. In reality, her brother probably threatened to cut her ex's eyes out if he went near her. One point for her brother. Keep the creep ex away from Paix. But that was the only good point. The rest of him was scum and it was his job to help bring the scum in.He glanced out to the plane. It was just visible in the dwindling twilight. If the brother had been trapped in first class then he was gone. That part had sunk earlier. The way the rest of the plane rocked, he guessed it was sitting on an edge of the coral reef. He'd have to swim out tomorrow to check it. Could he find evidence that human trafficker, Steve Allcot was dead? He'd noticed the edges of other islands in the distance. Could Allcot have swum to one of those refuges? The bastard had managed to slip away from other agencies. But now he had Guy Lapierre on his tail. The man was going down.Paix shifted. Her breast rubbed against his chest. His gut clenched. He sensed her need for control was just a protective front. He suspected that she'd be like an ice cube. Cold. Uneasy. But if he applied the proper heat, she'd melt. And like water, if more heat is added a puddle begins to simmer then boil. He wanted to crack her reserve and hear her scream his name as she ground her hips onto him and dug her fingernails into his shoulders. He placed his hand under her chin and raised her face to his. His lip trembled, aching to kiss her mouth. "I have to tell you something and I want you…no, I need you to listen to the whole thing before you explode."

I've read books by two of these authors and loved them so I had to get this set. It didn't disappoint. I got this book mostly for Brenda's and D'Ann's books but the rest of the novellas were pleasantly surprising will get books by the other authors Brenda Dyers Love Comes Crashing In I loved the way the characters were best friends and end up together sometimes your best friend is the one you belong with. D'ann Lindun's Falling Hard I love Cowboys enough said but Gage and Teagan were a great opposites attract storyline
Daryl Devore's book was fantastic also it was probably one of my favorites of the set. I was crying at the end thinking the worst but it turned out great.
