Finished showering, Erik dried off and dressed in the spare clothes she always kept handy at the club's apartment. She raided the kitchen for some breakfast then settled on her office couch with a couple of slices of toast and a cup coffee to catch the news. Horror filled her as images of the slain patrons of the other clubs filled her screen. She scanned the faces, praying she wouldn't recognize anyone. Tears filled her eyes as familiar visages flashed before her.Why would anybody do this? Everyone paid protection money. She picked up her cell and sent an message to Rumors. A heartbeat after placing the phone on the couch beside her, it chimed. She glanced at the screen. A picture of a bleeding sun flashed. One of the worst Triads in the area.With the news being too painful to watch, she channel surfed. Not paying attention to what was viewing on the screen. A distant noise broke into her doldrums. She tilted her head and listened. A pounding on her door echoed through the club. She crossed the room and peered through the peep hole. Brian's smiling face appeared. She punched the alarm code and unlocked the door."What are you doing here? It's way too early." She stepped back to allow Brian and his friends to enter."Morning. Love you." He kissed her cheek.Once everyone stood inside the kitchen, Brian pointed at the blond and said, "I'd like to introduce you to Apollo."The blond nodded, although Erik was pretty sure it was after he had scanned her from head to toe, with a lingering glance at her breasts. She wasn't embarrassed. She worked out and she knew she looked good, but she was surprised. Brian's friends generally didn't check out girls, only what they wore and in these sweat pants and tank top, she wasn’t dressed to kill.Brian wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "So, Erika honey, remember I said we needed a new singer? Well, I found one. Wait until you hear this guy.""Who does he do? I'd do back handsprings for a Taylor Swift."Brian glanced over his shoulder. "He does a mean Darien Scott. He can move and sing like him."Sandee and Stewart placed hands over their mouths to hide their giggles. What did they find so funny? Was she being setup? She was pretty sure she could trust Brian. He was a straight up kind of guy."Think of it this way," Brian propelled her toward the stage area. "This blond God, hence the name Apollo, singing, oh say, You Stole My Heart or Make Me Love You. The audience will be filled to capacity with horny guys buying lots of drink and fantasizing about him singing to them."Erik rubbed the back of her neck. "Well, let's get him up on stage and see what he can do. Stu, what have we got of Darien Scott's stuff that Apollo here could sing."Stewart shrugged. "Let's go in the sound room and see. Coming Apollo?" He walked to a side door."I'm coming too." Sandee stepped next Apollo. "The sound booth is small, so it'll be cozy.""See." Brian laughed. "Those two are already in lust and he hasn't even sung yet."Erik wiped a small bead of perspiration off her brow. Why was she sweating? It wasn't hot in the club. The only hotness was the new singer. She pursed her lips and nodded. "Well, he does have incredible blue eyes."
