Meet the Challenge!

Survival can be summed up in three words – never give up. That’s the heart of it really. Just keep trying.

“Why are you saying that?” Dylan was interested to know.
“Because tonight there is a full moon. I am pretty sure that these black clouds will appear again.” the aged woman went closer.
“What?” Jack was taken aback.
“For two days, the forest has swallowed everyone who walks down to its paths under the moon light.” The old woman’s words sounded weird.
Jack and Dylan were laughing while Lilly and Alicia were trying to pay attention to the old woman. The lovely girls kicked them on their ankles and stared at the old woman again. She was serious and didn’t seem naïve. She didn’t seem to joke. After a few seconds, Dylan looked pensive; he couldn’t stop scratching his nose. Jack decided to walk back toward the bus, giving her his best smile. He looked at Alicia, and she acted the same while Lilly was next to Dylan ready to talk.
“Yeah right…” Dylan didn’t believe her words.
“You can laugh as much as you want but I am not kidding, young man.” The old woman pointed at him.
“Whatever you say, miss.” Jack nodded at the old woman and then he shook his head.
“Come on guys, let’s go back.” Lilly looked back and, after a while, she started walking toward the school bus.
The four kids left the canteen looking only straight ahead, admiring the green beauty and the numerous birds.
“What is that? What happened to them?” Alicia hadn’t seen something like that before.
“I have no idea!” Only Lilly was able to answer. The rest carried on looking upon the birds.
They noticed that their teachers and the driver were watching the sky.
Dylan turned back and observed the woman who was obviously disappointed by their reaction. She sat on her broken brown chair, and the wind began a battle with her hair. The woman sealed her lips and shook her head until two black eagles flying above them managed to steal her sight.
“Did you see her eyes?” Jack was still curious about the aged woman.
“That woman made me chill, look my hand! I got really scared!” Lilly wanted to forget her…

Keep looking up!

Looking back isn’t going to help you. Moving forward is the thing you have to do.

McKayla Maroney

After work, Jenna loved strolling in the park. The towering trees, the smell of the wet grass, the beautiful lake, the colorful flowers, and the countless birds made her feel wonderful. She liked singing her favorite songs as she was looking out at the city and she felt free.
Although Jenna grew up in Georgia, New York was always her favorite city. Now, she regarded the sleepless city her home.
She put on her grey jacket and walked toward her apartment building. The dark had blanketed the city, and pretty soon, the shinning stars would start making their presence in the sky. Their glow would easily steal her attention.
The first week of April reminded her the cold days of the winter, and she hated the feeling of coming across the freaking freezing atmosphere of the endless nights of January and February.
Jenna liked the heat and the puny, warm wind. Summer was always her favorite season and she looked forward to it.
Soon, she stood outside the big building searching for her keys. She was heading toward the stairs when someone stopped her.
“Hi, Jenna, how are you?” he asked politely.
“Hi, John, I’m fine. How are you?” Jenna felt weird. She had forgotten that her neighbor was so handsome. She hadn’t seen him for a couple of days but, the moment she smelled his aftershave, she was ready to fall into his hug. She loved his scent and she was impressed by his manners.
“I am fine thank you. I see you like jogging.” John tried to be cool. He glanced at her sporty attire and smiled. The grey pants and her white sneakers showed off her beautiful body. Then again, the pony tail that held her hair back, revealing her sweet face was another clue.
It seemed he had forgotten how to flirt with a woman too.
“Yes, I think we should all do that.”
Jenna was trying to be friendly, she wanted to keep up their conversation, but she was shy. Although he seemed to be a nice guy, she wasn’t sure they should get closer. Maybe they should be good neighbors and nothing more. It was too difficult for her to trust a stranger and, moreover, it was extremely difficult to trust another man again.

Tales, traditions, and mystery!

I think people should read fairy tales, because we’re hungry for a mythology that will speak to our fears.

Sandra Cisneros

Read and Love!

“Many centuries ago, a fatal disease had killed more than the half of a village which was covered by towering cypresses.”
“They are talking about our town,” Brad said.
“Yea, I know.” Tracy wanted to hear everything.
“The Burning Tree, the tribal leader.” The young man made a pause and looked at his mother.
“Now that’s a beautiful name,” he said.
“Brad!” Tracy smiled.
“The leader of the village, a Native American young man, called the four spirits of nature to make a deal to save the village and the lives of his people.
“When his raft reached the middle of the lake, the night birds notified the four spirits. He was scared to death, but he was determined to save his people.
“After many hours, they made a deal, but the terms were harsh. For ten days, every century, the leader of the village would have to deliver ten souls to the spirits of nature. For ten days, he would have the power to do anything, as long as he was in the lake. He could use the water to capture and trap his victims. He could exploit the power of the water.
“The Burning Tree” (the tradition mentions that, when he got angry, smoke covered his body and he looked like a tree which was on fire), had lost his family due to the fatal disease, and the only thing he was looking for was revenge. He was not able to think clearly. He had no idea how his decision would affect his spirit. He was not aware of the consequences of his choice.
“The wild man had lost his mind and had become obsessive with the presence of death. He was furious; he wanted to fight with death. He wanted to defeat death. But he had ignored the fact that he was human.

Making Dreams and Plans

To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.

Oscar Wilde

Read and Love
Romance…

Making dreams and plans

They counted a year since their first meeting. They both loved sharing their lives as a real couple. Every time they walked toward their apartment building, the noisy neighborhood used to pay attention to them. The beautiful ladies from the colorful shops and their neighbors liked talking and shaking hands with the beautiful couple.
Then again, their friends didn’t stop laughing at them; everyone believed they were acting unusual; They used to call them romantic freaks. Every Friday they loved spending their nights at their favorite bar talking about everything. They were all young and looked forward to discovering the paths the future held for them. Ralph and Sonya were the exception to the rule since they had found whatever they looked for.
All of them kept teasing the young couple, but in truth, they were all jealous of Ralph and Sonya since they had managed to build and sustain a beautiful relationship. “You are almost twenty-one years old! Don’t you want to meet and have sex and fun with other people?” they used to tell them, but every time, Ralph and Sonya ignored their suggestions.
During the first year of their relationship, everything had changed. They were living together and carried on making dreams and plans for the future since they were the happiest people on earth. They were young, healthy and independent, and they never stopped hoping that things between them would always remain perfect. They loved having realistic aspirations and they never gave up on trying achieving their goals.
Living together was interesting for both of them because they had to follow each other’s rules. Sonya hated seeing Ralph’s clothes on the sofa while Ralph felt weird when he had to clean his things and help Sonya with housekeeping as well. The first weeks, nervousness and curiosity had taken over but, later, funny grimaces and jokes accompanied these tasks…

Fear the Darkness

Pleasure is a shadow, wealth is vanity, and power a pageant; but knowledge is ecstatic in enjoyment, perennial in frame, unlimited in space and indefinite in duration.

DeWitt Clinton

Read and Enjoy!

What am I supposed to do? she wondered, while she supposed that the new day had already come. Amelia was certain she had slept the whole night and looked forward to seeing the sun’s rays. She already missed the blue sky and the deep blue color of the ocean.
The moment she got out from the closet and realized there was still dark, she wanted to scream. She pulled her long hair away from her pale face and took a deep breath, doing her best to abstain from panic-stricken reactions. She walked to the door and placed her head on the cold surface while paying attention to every single sound. She used to fear the darkness. She missed the daylight and the man that had promised he would stand by her side forever.
The following minutes she was able to understand there were some unexpected changes. The heat was gone; the cold air kept assaulting her face and the naked parts of her skin, giving birth to many silent, sneaky questions about the place she was in. She didn’t mind taking off her black dress and high heels.
What the hell, she whispered and headed toward the balcony of the cabin where she opened the door slowly, and stepped outside...

What She Needs

Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them.

Bruce Lee

Read and Love!

“How about having dinner at my house? What do you think?” Pamela suggested and managed to surprise him.
Michael got up from his bed, trying to hide the joy and the beautiful smile on his face. He was shaking; his hands were trembling while his deep voice sounded weird. He swallowed and struggled to remain calm as he walked toward the small window, watching the large sycamores and the kids who liked running in the park opposite his home.
“Tonight…?” he asked and, immediately, he rushed to expose his impatience.
“Yes.” Pamela said.
“I could be there in twenty minutes,” he said.
Pamela laughed since she realized that he really looked forward to sharing some time together. He sounded like a teenager who was given the chance to do whatever he wanted for a whole weekend without his family’s presence.
“Tonight, Michael,” Pamela said and disconnected.
Michael ran to the bathroom and fought against time, he was anxious and shy, but he would dare to impress her, to steal her heart.
Mixed, various feelings and emotions enveloped his thoughts and his soul since it was the first time he would date an older, experienced woman. But he wanted to dare and he was in love with Pamela. At least that was what he believed for the time being.
The handsome, nervous gardener thought that he needed one more shower while, a couple of minutes later, he stood in front of the small mirror in his bedroom and dealt with his style. He was shaved but didn’t like his haircut. After several minutes, he fixed his hair again and decided he looked good.
Michael wanted to be as good-looking as possible since he regarded that it was his only chance to earn her trust, her heart, and her interest. He believed older women hated spending their time with men who didn’t care about the way they would look like, and he was determined to become the exception to the rule.
Ignoring a woman’s inner feelings and female belief, he wished he would make it happen just by using his charm. He based his guessing on his previous relationships and experiences with the girls he had met in high school, and that could destroy his plans since Pamela was different. His boss was looking for a serious partner not a gigolo...

La Vie Este Belle

Miracles do happen and bear in mind that you will get what you deserve...

Read and Love!

Pamela came closer and kissed his lips, whereas he felt like stepping into the paradise. Michael was living the most exciting experience in his whole life and would do anything to make this better. He had earned her love and appreciation again; he had run into a woman who was eager to offer him everything he needed. And Michael was not the same man, he had changed, he was another man; he was with her enjoying great sex, love and freedom. “Let’s go back home, back to California,” she said. “No, let’s stay in New York, but let’s focus on where we are today. This is the first and most beautiful day of summer. It’s the twenty-first of June you know. It is summer solstice. It’s been a year since life brought us face-to-face,” he whispered and she smiled. “I’ll give you everything you want, Michael.” They stopped strolling and the young man rolled his eyes and placed his hands around her waist.
“I’ll give you everything you want, Michael.” They stopped strolling and the young man rolled his eyes and placed his hands around her waist. “I want to be with you. This is the best place I have ever been.” The sunlight showed off her fabulous, naked body, which had already stolen Michael’s mind and heart. She was the most attractive woman he had ever come across and he would never let her go. And for the time being, he was only interested in living his dream, they had never been to Maldives. They were alone in a small, beautiful island living the best moments of their relationship...
