Building Love with the Sydney Telethon
We live on a property in rural New South Wales, Australia. We have to drive 45 mins, to the main hospital 50kms away. On May 9 2014, our eldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Retinoblastoma to be precise. I'll discuss this more another time. But what I will discuss now is the need we had to travel to Sydney, a 6 hour drive away, for our DD who was 18 months old at the time; to have her diagnosis confirmed, and when it was; for her treatment to begin. It meant staying in Sydney.

Grass Patch - where the hell is it?
It was with some serious nervousness that I stepped off the plane at Perth and onto a bus to Esperance. I had a nine hour journey by road to wonder at what I was doing or rather be expected to do. I had secured a job with a family of four young children on a cropping farm in WA. I was going to be the nanny. What the hell was I thinking? Me? A nanny? That would be my sisters forte not mine, she is qualified in child care, me I'm just an administrator with a dream and a sense of adventure.

Lest We Forget

How a Pomm came to Aus
I remember when I was 14. I was asked "What do you want to do when you are older?" After a moments thought I said "I want to chase cattle across the Australian outback." It was rarely thought of again as a goal, but more of a dream of escape from the dull monotonous life I found myself living after I left school. There is only so much excitement to be gained from the life of a qualified administrator. It would be ten years before I found my dream to be a tangible possibility. To which I can

Local Support
I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful and inspiring woman this last week.
A local artist who is working hard to raise funds for Parkinson's this month.
But whilst she is trying to raise awareness of this condition, she was more than happy to try and raise awareness for myself and my own published work with An Unexpected Bonding.
Why not pop on over to the website, check out her work, charity fundraising...oh and An Unexpected Bonding!
