On taking daily decisions

Okay, so this is not about the decisions that you must take jointly – as a family or as a group of friends. This is all about the decisions that you and only you must take on a daily basis. Like, what am I going to eat for dinner? What should I wear for that function? Is it necessary for me to attend that party? Should I follow that home remedy for this flu? Should I eat that dish, even though I despise it? Should I attend this call and talk to this person right now? These are some of the daily questions to which you must take decisions. When I tell that you must take decisions, it means that only you have a say in them.

If you don’t want to eat something, then don’t. If you don’t want to wear that dress for that function, then don’t. If you don’t want to follow that particular home remedy suggested by so and so person, then don’t. If you feel that you don’t want to attend that party, then don’t. Take strong decisions and stick to them. You might think why I should emphasize on taking these simple decisions. You might also say that you are already taking those decisions by yourself and that I need not preach you on that. But there comes a time in your life when you might feel that you can tweak your decisions. This is when you allow someone you love / respect have a say in these small decisions. It might be your parent or your spouse or your best friend.

Sometimes, the person whom you love can manipulate your decisions in the name of love. They would tell you what to do and what not to do. They would demand you to wear that particular dress for that function or follow that particular home remedy for your flu. When you resist their suggestions, they would turn angry and argue with you. They think that they have the authority to impose their suggestions on you and that you’d follow them out of love and respect. However, this should not be the case. You can appreciate their suggestions, but don’t let go of your identity. Take these daily decisions on your own and follow them staunchly. Politely tell the other person that this is who you are and this is what you like to do. If they truly love you and respect you, they would surely accept your decisions. Never lose your independency at any cost.

If you are going to give in to their choices or decisions, then you are going to lose your ability to think on your own and decide what is good for you. Don’t let that happen to you. Stick to your daily decisions and allow your loved ones to take their own decisions. You can suggest whatever you want, but let them take the final call. The same applies to vice-versa. Forced choices will make you unhappy in the long run. Lead your life smoothly by being strong and determined in your daily decisions.

Love,

Moon Song #5

Well, well, how are you, folks? It’s been a long time since my last post. I have been busy with work and other programs. And, I am all set to welcome my little one in July! ❤ So, I am spending much time in talking to it, playing music to it, interacting with it and feeling its fierce kicks and punches. And, yeah, I think my creative juices are flowing again. You can find my new poems and verses in YourQuote app.

So, here’s a new poem on moon.

Seizing the moon, I wrote poetry on it.

Line by line, with black ink and pure love.

But you never acknowledged my verses.

My love is still unrequited.

You see the scars on the moon?

They are not mere scars,

as philosophers claim.

They are not craters,

as scientists pontificate.

They are the testimony of my love.

They are my heartfelt verses,

disguised as scars and craters.

A Song Well Sung

Another awesome review of my short story ‘Somewhere In A Song’.

Sunshine on my tea cup

song

It is very rare that I’ve read a story at one go. My role as a mother hardly permits me the time or energy to read a story in one sitting. ‘Somewhere in a Song’ is an exception. I was compelled to read through the entire story almost without batting an eyelid. No, it isn’t a crime thriller, it is a thriller bordering the paranormal  and yet you just cannot let it go. The premises of the story is simple – a young woman named Emma Justin gets drawn to a song -taking it to the level of an obsession. Is it just an obsession or is there anything else behind this strange behavior? Is she the singer of the song or not? The story itself is like the song – ‘There’s nothing left to do’ – first drawing you towards it and then make it a compulsion for you…

Moon Song #3

This poem was written as a part of the topic ‘Golden Pole on the Ice Field’ in a private group in Facebook. My love for moon resulted in this poem. Read on!

Scars of different shapes

adorn its pure body,

punctuate its resplendence.

But those scars, golden scars,

are exceptionally beautiful

on its ambrosial texture.

Black to the distant eye.

Golden to the people

who have walked on it.

The scars have a purpose.

The golden scars are that

which give a completion to it.

But the moon never laments.

It proudly flaunts the scars

to the entire world.

The golden, golden scars.

Thee Thee – A.R.Rahman Song Ft. Kavya Janani

I have never shared any of my singing videos in my blog. Many readers don’t even know that I can sing. I was trained in Carnatic music till the age of 15. And then I began performing in light music orchestras. I have also participated in some reality shows and other TV shows. I am now active in Smule, a karaoke-based recording app for singers. This song is a recent recording by me. I am not sharing the entire video due to copyright issues. I’ll share the YouTube link and Smule link for you to listen and enjoy.

I’d love some feedback from you, since this is my dream song. Kindly listen with earphones for better quality.
