Routine vs Discipline
Routine and discipline are often confused on the journey towards our goals. Routine is what we allow ourselves to fall into, discipline is what we dedicate ourselves to.
Routine is the comfort zone, the rationalizing of our current circumstances, and the false belief that this is somehow what fate has decided should be our current place. Discipline however, are the stairs we climb, the slouching we put aside, and the action we continuously do in private that gets us to our goals.

The Zen Creative Ep #3 – 9 Keys to a Successful Side Hustle
While putting the final touches on the third installation in the Zen Creative series, I had a brief reflection on the lessons I learned while putting together a Youtube channel.
I chose this topic because as an entrepreneur not every idea you have will be the one that you end up working on full time. There will be times where you’ll have to work a full-time job while building your idea. Success is the overnight result of years of hard work.
When I first started working on the idea of a brandi...

A Few Things I Learned from Starting a Youtube Channel
A few months ago, I decided to jump into the world of online video. Like my approach with most things, I did my research, calculated all the data, laid out detailed plans, learned about lighting, audio, video search optimizationand the list goes on. Until finally, one day I decided to just sit down in front of the camera and talk.
None of my plans went as I imagined they would but I did kept going. I continued to feel uncomfortable as I exposed myself to a new form of creative expression.
The...

Where You Are vs Where You Want To Be
The reason few can reach the level of success they seek is due to one simple thing.
That is, they are unable to understand that where they are is only temporary. Nothing lasts forever.
In other words, getting comfortable in one position thinking that it will last forever is a setup for what could be avoidable failure.
Do it bigBecause nothing lasts forever, whatever you are currently employed in doing, do things big.
Set the standard for the right practices not by preaching them but living t...

Announcing the Always Upward Video Dispatch!
Over a year ago, I wanted to do something different. Video seemed like a cool way of doing that and I really wanted to learn more about things like video editing, motion graphics and how to builda Youtube channel.
I stressed out for a really long time, trying to perfect everything until one day I realized that I needed to just take my own advice and jump in. Otherwise, I’d forever be sitting on the sidelines being falsely comforted by wishful thinking.
So here it is, episode one of the Always...

Embracing the Dimensions of your Inner Superhero
During the years of my corporate career race, I’d often find myself being asked the question “Do you prefer design or development?”. It was always a tough question to answer, mainly because these were two things I enjoyed equally.
As time went on, I found that these two aspects of my creativity were but small parts to a much bigger whole. I would later fall in love with things like photography, writing, analytics, speaking, entrepreneurship and even gardening.
When we think of design or bei...
