When summer is over...
I'll be honest. It is July 30th and summer is pretty much over for me.
That's because my youngest son has boarded a plane back to his university, thousands of miles from home. I won't see him again until the holidays.
This isn't my first time. My two oldest children are grown-ups and I'm a young (ahem) grandmother to one beautiful grandbaby.
But there's something about your youngest child growing up, isn't there? It reminds you that soon you'll be done with this parenting gig.
Sniff.
For now, I choose to remember the long days we've spent this summer, beach days, movie nights with discussion afterward, long talks about life and the state of the world. Yes, I'm lucky he talks to me.
Lucky and blessed to say goodbye to one more wonderful summer.
