TSS - TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME is typically caused by the use of super-absorbent tampons. It was prevalent in the 1980s and led to several products being taken off the market. Today, warnings are written on literature inside the box.

Miami, Florida & the Louisiana Bayou – I just returned from the Miami International Book Fair & the Readers’ Favorite Awards Ceremony, and received a gold medal for Sweet Desire, Wicked Fate. Made a stop in Louisiana to explore the bayou and do research for book 2. A big Mahalo to all of the lovely people we met in both Florida & in Louisiana.

October 11:  Day of the Girl

“Empowerment of and investment in girls are key in breaking the cycle of discrimination and violence and in promoting and protecting the full and effective enjoyment of their human rights”

-United Nations Resolution 66/170

Just two years ago, the UN declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child to raise awareness about all issues concerning gender inequality around the world.  It’s a day when activist groups come together under the same goal to highlight, discuss, and take action to advance rights and opportunities for girls everywhere.

October 11 is not just a day; it’s a movement.

A worldwide revolution.

We want ourselves, and girls everywhere, to be seen as equals, in the eyes of others and in our own eyes.
