So let's see. There are two main reasons why BED OF FLOWERS ends the way it does.

The first is that it ends in a way that I find realistic--I think that a golden boy like Charles Gavin, who has wealth, influence, and maleness on his side, would be able to make the town see things his way. I think that families schism over smaller transgressions every day; Bonny's father's whole identity was tied up in his company and Loel literally burned it to the ground. That's a lot to forgive, especially at Mr. Reed's age. And I could go on, person by person.

But there's another, more important reason. Bonny and Loel aren't fighters. They don't have a cause bigger than themselves. They're good people who do the right thing when pressed, even if it causes them pain--that's admirable. It's a lot better than nothing and they deserve to be happy. But they're not lifting a shield for anyone else. Bonny pulls a few people into her circle, but it's a small circle.

It'll be more obvious once Cordelia's story is done--because Cordelia IS a fighter. She picks tougher battles and so she'll win a different kind of victory.

The romances in this series will remain completely distinct, but I'm thinking of the characters (and themes) more as a whole. I'm hoping the HEAs will resonate with one another in an interesting way. And the protagonists won't just fall away--you'll see more of Bonny and Loel, so their story isn't completely over. (less)

Wow, I only just now saw this question... sorry for the (really abysmally slow) response.

The answer is YES I am working on a new series, I've plotted a series arc I'm excited about, and the first book is almost done. I don't have a release date and I won't until I've got my production schedule set up, but I'm hoping to have it out by the end of the year.

And yikes, apologies again for being slow. (less)

Taking a Break

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, and putting it off so so long that re-writing the task every day in my planner finally annoyed me enough to make a start.

The long and short of it is: I am not currently working on a historical romance. I’m not currently writing for publication at all.

My ‘break’ started a while ago, which means I’ve had a lot of time to think about the decision. Do
