Matthew hails from wide open skies and frozen fields where fierce storms try to challenge the resilient folks in lawn chairs enjoying the show. When he's not soaring through clouds, Matthew lays his head down in the queen city, Cincinnati. He has been a life-long lover of all things fantasy. Before LARPing was a thing, he would fight in epic battles with his brothers and cousins at Grandma's house. Books quickly offered portals to even more fantastic realms. Some of his fondest journeys took him to the realms of Narnia, Pern, and Middle-earth. Video games offered a new avenue of participation in fantasy. His virtual adventuring took him into the realms of Azeroth, Myrtana, Dune, Tamriel, and many other legendary worlds, where he could explo ...more

Thus far, I've found that nature and people are full of incredible stories and inspiration. I just need to open my eyes to seeing it, once I did, I couldn't help but be inspired to write about it.(less)

“Most attribute the domain of night to evil because they can't see. People fear the shadows of the night because shadows represent the unknown, and the unknown is frightening. They assume evil lurks behind every shadow, in every corner not illuminated. But their fear of the unknown is often what really terrifies them. They find comfort seeing in the daylight for that reason, but the irony is they are often more blinded by their comfort than by the shadow of night. It's a pity. If they could overcome their fear of the unknown they might realize that the unknown is not evil, it is simply an opportunity waiting to be explored. The night is no more a domain of evil than the daylight, both were created good, both have evil lurking in them. When you can overcome your fear, the night becomes a domain of beauty interlaced with danger, and that is exciting!”

“Since it is so likely that (children) will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.”
