Ruthless Spirits, Spirit Voices Series Book 2 by Sandy Wolters

Terry Anderson’s lifelong dream has come to fruition. Finally his success as an artist affords him the opportunity to purchase the home that has beckoned to him since childhood. What he doesn’t know is, if he moves in, a sinister evil will be unleashed, threatening everything and everyone Terry cares about.
As High Priestess of her Wiccan Coven, Rainy Stratton’s sixth sense has never failed to shed insight on anyone who crosses her path. That is…until she encounters Terry. Intrigued by his eccentric style and humor, she finds herself drawn to him, and despite her misgivings, she eagerly entrusts her heart to the man she can’t read.
When the wicked come out to play, Rainy and Terry face a battle of good versus evil, but she can’t see how it will end. However, the price of losing is unacceptable. For if they do, the devil will claim their souls.
All books in the Spirit Voices Series are full-length, stand-alone novels.

I've been an avid reader for years. To my husband's dismay, I have bookshelves full of books, rooms full of books, boxes full of books. My cars have books in them. I just can't seem to get rid of them after I read them. You just never know when you will want to read it again, right?
About two years ago, my husband gave me the dream gift, a Kindle. It was love at first sight and my first foray into the world of ebooks. To say the least, I am a technologically challenged person but when a reader, such as I, is told that you can have the book you want to read in seconds, I'm going to do whatever it takes to learn how to use it as quickly as possible.
While I still have books everywhere, I no longer take ten or twelve books with me when I go on vacation. The only thing I need is my Kindle. It never leaves my purse.
My genre of choice is romance with a paranormal twist. My authors of choice are Diana Palmer, Iris Johansen, Catherine Coulter, Jill Gregory and of course, the queen, Nora Roberts. I am also very partial to Michael Connelly, who is not a romance author but damn that man can write!
In my life prior to becoming an author, I was a Legal Assistant/Office Manager for a wonderful local estate planning attorney (no criminals that I know of). Prior to that, I also worked my way up the ladder in a large corporation, from payroll clerk to supervising nine employees in operational accounting.
When my children, Shandelle and Pilar, were small, I took a few years off to be a full-time mom and help my husband with his accounting work for his auto repair shop.
After, Michael, my husband, sold his business, he changed professions and started working for a national construction company.
Michael and I raised two beautiful, strong women so that's who I write about. The women in my books are strong individuals that have moments of weakness and frailty to work through.

How many books have you written? If more than one, are any a series…or trilogy?
I’ve written seven novels and released one box set. The Valiant Chronicles is a two-part story plus a prequel.
Do you have plans for a new book?
My next project is a non-fiction book called Changed for Life: The After-Effects of Near-Death Experience.
Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants?
I’m a combination plotter and pantser. I use Randy Ingermanson’s Snowflake Pro program to get the bones down and even some of the meat. When I write, though, I’m flexible and let the characters guide me.
Did you have an editor edit your books?
Yes. I’ve had three different editors for the various books. Kelly Hartigan at XterraWeb has edited six out of the seven, including Poison Pen.
Who designed the cover of your book?
The always incredible Patti Roberts of Paradox Book Covers.
Do you have any advice for other writers starting out?
Don’t worry about getting it right the first time. Get a first draft down and then revise as required and hire an editor.
How many hours per day do you try to devote to research and writing?
The amount of time I devote to research depends on the project. When I’m writing a first draft, I use word count rather than time as the target. I aim to write 1,500 words before I call it quits for the day.
Sleep in or get up early?
Get up early, typically around 5:30 AM.
Laptop or desktop for writing?
Desktop.

#Author #Interview - John M W Smith / The Wacky Stories With Twist Endings
Book Description : The Wacky Stories Series comprises 7 books of short stories with twist (or surprise) endings. The stories have strong women as the main characters who are trying to overcome unexpected problems in their lives, and the methods they employ to find solutions to these problems are unorthodox and imaginative. Some idea of these stories can best be had from a description of the contents of Volume 1 in the series. Here they are:
Everything about Andy is too good to be true, so what is his secret? Has Joan really got everything that a woman could possibly wish for? Cathy is in no mood for the attentions of a cocktail -bar-Romeo, and it looks as if he’s about to turn nasty! What on earth is it that Gina’s boyfriend wants her to do to make him happy? Just what is included for Becky in this supermarket’s not to be missed special offer? Is Alison going to simply stand by while another woman walks away with her hard-won prize? How can Julia’s husband Harry possibly hope to compete with all those other candidates who have applied for The Job to die for? Paul is always putting her down and Living In The Country would be Ali’s idea of heaven if only she could get rid of him. But how?
They are eight carefully crafted stories designed to surprise and entertain you, the reader, and at the end to have you say, ‘well, I’ll be……! I never saw that coming!’
What inspired you to start writing, and when? When I was growing up, I would read anything, anytime. My mum’s magazines, the small print on medicine bottles, the ingredients on food packets, advertisement hoardings, never letting go, always reading everything from beginning to end. It was my world. People would bang on the door to query my welfare when I got engrossed in a book ( yes, even while I was in the loo!). Words intrigued me, their use, their sound, their texture. How they could make me feel. How they could manipulate me. But above all, I was fascinated by writers (yes, even by those who were employed to write instruction manuals for vacuum cleaners) who could write in a way that would compel the reader to go on reading. Un-put-down-able. Writers who would make me want to turn the page. And I became their disciple, learning from their talent, their ever-dutiful student. And I found that more often than not the most intense feelings and emotions could be expressed in the simplest of words. Plain language and choosing the words carefully. That is all that it ever takes to communicate effectively, and you can get to anything that you want to say. What is your preferred genre?I do not have one. I write for women, I write for young adults/teenagers, and I also write thrillers for adults. As long as I believe I have thought of a story which will live on in a reader’s memory for quite a while, I will take pen to paper straight away.
How many books have you written?18 in all. I have three series: The Wacky Stories With Twist Endings Series, The Sandy Brown/Matt Black series, and The Dictator Thriller Series. I have also written one book of short stories for children, and one book on philosophy entitled A Layman’s guide to the Meaning of Life and Death. I am very proud of them all.
Tell us a little about your book. The Wacky Stories series comprises short stories with twist endings. The trick is to make them appear easy to write, when actually they are infernally difficult to come up with, time after time. They are written in very simple language and have female characters who are immediately identifiable as someone you know, a friend, a work colleague, an uncle, an aunt, a sister…..or even yourself! And the problems they face are ones that most women have to face at some point in their lives, but the ways in which these characters choose to solve their particular problems will shock and amuse you, and make you wonder….
Do you have plans for a new book?I am currently working on an eighth book in the series called More Longer Wacky Stories With Twist Endings, which is due out in 2018.
Is there an Author that you would really like to meet? There are two, actually. Fay Weldon and Hilary Mantel
Was there an Author that inspired your writing? As far as the Wacky Stories series is concerned, my inspiration came from reading the stories of many authors who were published in the women’s weekly magazines. I read them and said to myself, “I can do that. In fact, I can do better than that!” But I do admire Jeffrey Archer and Roald Dahl.
Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants?I do in a way. I will start reading a lot, all the time looking out for that one sentence which will trigger off a train of thought in my own mind. And given time, it happens, I find it. This method has never let me down!
Did you have an editor edit your books? No. I am my own editor. I worked for an academic publisher for ten years and consider myself more than capable of handling this task myself (and saving a lot of money!).
Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?Ebooks.
Where do you prefer to buy your books? On Amazon
Are you a self- published (Indie) Author?Yes.
What books would you like to read again?Anything by Somerset Maugham, Arundhati Roy, or Salman Rushdie.
Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?I’d have to say that movies and books have their own different formats distinct markets, and I would not be able to choose one in preference to the other. Movies are a visual experience of images where one’s own imagination is not needed as everything is there, right in front of us. Books require the exercise of one’s own imagination. It just depends what you are in the mood for, the movie version or the book version.
What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?Tell Tale, by Jeffrey Archer, in hardback.
Who designed the cover of your book?I did, after input from my readers.
Do you find yourself intrigued by the cover of a book enough to buy it? No. I open the book and read the first couple of pages.
Do you have any advice for other writers starting out? Writing is not easy. Good writers just make it look easy. Unless your readers have given you cause to think that you write well, give it up after year and try something else. And above all, don’t give up your day job!
Do you write under a pen name? No. I use my own name. John M W Smith.
What are your pet peeves? Bureaucracy and red tape. Untalented people with too much power.
You are trapped on a tropical island - who would you like to be stranded with?Nigella Lawson.
Pick one - Wine, Chocolate or shoes?Chocolate.
Cats or dogs?Dogs.
Tell us about someone or something that just made your day –My Russian translators and publishers saying that they are very much looking forward to reading my next book in the Wacky Stories Series, called More Longer Wacky Stories with Twist Endings, with a view of translating it into Russian as English language teaching material! They have already done the same for all my other books in the Wacky Stories series.
What is your favourite food and beverage?Well made sandwiches and coffee. Smoked salmon and cream cheese/roast beef and mustard/egg and tomato/sardine and cucumber are some of my favourites.
How many hours per day do you try to devote to research and writing?I still work 60 hours a week at my day job, and I have to take what time I can get to do my writing in between. So I have to snatch whatever time I can get for doing research and writing.
What are 3 things you never leave home without (apart from keys, money, and phone)?A set of clean underwear, some sanitising gel, and a bottle of drinking water.
Sleep in or get up early?Get up early.
Laptop or desktop for writing?Ruled A4 paper and pen. And later, Dragon software for writing on-screen.
Your favourite gadget?My Kindle.
Where and when do you prefer to do your writing? At home, early morning or late at night.
Your thoughts on receiving book reviews - the good and the bad -I hardly ever receive bad reviews, but when I do, I do not have a problem with them if they point out something I have neglected and are constructive, thereby giving me the chance to make corrections.
Do you have a bucket list? No.
One of your favourite quotes –If you cannot see where people are “coming from”, then you will never understand where they “are going”.
What is a movie or TV show that you watched just recently and really enjoyed?Judge Judy.

What inspired you to start writing, and when? I started out with writing in Junior High School when my teacher had our class to create a poetry book listing some of our most favorite children's poems or other types of poetry and we had to include with this class project two poems that we had to make up ourselves. Later on, in 2009, is when I began writing my poems and my savings plan. It was at this time that I decided to make them into a book.
What is your preferred genre? Self-help books, children's books, and poetry. A scary story in the works.
How many books have you written? I have written 2 books and are not a part of a series.
Does your easiest money savings plan really help people and can you use it still if you are being paid minimum wage? Yes, My book has helped lots of people who are on their way to a safe and secure money savings plan and yes, you can still use this plan if you get paid minimum wage. QUOTE from Blue Ink Review: "Out of all the personal finance books out there on the market, Jennelle L. White's Easiest Short/Long Term Plan For Saving Money has the most truthful title."
Do you have plans for a new book? Yes, possibly 2 -3 new books.
Is there an Author that you would really like to meet? Yes, there are several. JK Rowling, RL Stein,JannellTaylor's, and authors/writers involved with Sesame Street and others.
Was there an Author that inspired your writing? For my poetry, it was the Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes that I loved to read when I was little.
Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? I like the concept of e-books but I prefer paperbacks and hardcover books.

Author Interview – Beth Prentice, The Westport Mysteries

*PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED UNDER THE TITLE It Started With A House*
Meet Lizzie. She’s 31 and having a premature mid-life crisis. So, she bought a lonely, run-down old house that pulled on her heartstrings.

But with the purchase, Lizzie gets more than she bargained for. She didn’t expect the engagement ring and letters of forbidden love hidden under the attic floorboards. She didn’t expect the lazy cat or the drop dead gorgeous handyman. And she definitely didn’t expect the stalker.
As the renovation begins and the house starts to slowly return to its former glory, the letters dog her dreams. Why was the writer forced to turn away from his love? Why was their love forbidden? And why was this all hidden under the floorboards?
Filled with a drive to reunite the ring with its rightful owner, Lizzie engages the help of her new handyman, her crazy family and her sex-crazed Grandma, and sets on a journey of lost love, heartache, and public damnation.
But can Lizzie restore the house to its former glory, and find who it all once belonged to before her stalker catches up with her? Or will she lose everything...including her life?
What inspired you to start writing, and when? When I was younger I never had the desire to write. In fact it was the last thing I wanted to do. But my mum used to tell me a lot of stories about how she grew up in the war. These stories were always happy memories of hers and often they were very funny tales of what my Grandma used to get up to. I thought that those stories needed to be written down. However, when I started to write another story came to me. Completely fiction but had hints of truth in it. And Dangerous Deeds was born, lol
What is your preferred genre? Romantic suspense with a lot of humour.
How many books have you written? If more than one, are any a series…or trilogy? I’ve written 7 books. At present, I have two books in each series and one stand alone. But I’m working on adding books in each series J
Tell us a little about your book. Dangerous Deeds is a story of family, love and how, no matter what, we are all equal and should be treated that way
Do you have plans for a new book? Yes, I’m working on the next in the series at the moment
Is there an Author that you would really like to meet? Janet Evanovich and Sophie Kinsella. Can I have two? J
Was there an Author that inspired your writing? Yes, both of those that I’d like to meet!
Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants? I plot the story but fill it all in by the seat of my pants
Did you have an editor edit your books? Definitely. I’ve had a couple – all brilliant! But at the moment I’m using the awesome Nas Dean
Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? All of the above J
Where do you prefer to buy your books? Everywhere, but I love small bookstores and have a dream to one day open a book exchange with a difference!
Are you a self- published (Indie) Author? Yes, but I also have a publisher with my other series
What books would you like to read again? Whenever I need a pick me up I always reread Sophie Kinsella. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I love Twenties Girl and What’s Your Number?! They are fun, light and feel good J
Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version? I love movies, but I’m yet to find a movie of a book that I have read that is better than the book. For me, the book is always better!
What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)? I’m currently reading Rachael Johns Talk of the Town in paperback
Who designed the cover of your book? The awesome and amazing Patti Roberts, Paradox Book Designs!!! And I’ll admit to being just a little bit in love with this cover J
Do you find yourself intrigued by the cover of a book enough to buy it? Definitely. It’s the thing that makes me pick the book up in the first place
Do you have any advice for other writers starting out? Don’t doubt yourself!?
Do you ever write in your PJ’s? No. I’m a get out of bed, walk straight into the shower kind of girl. I never feel ready for the day unless I’m showered and dressed. Even when I’m sick I still get out of bed and complete the morning routine J
What are your pet peeves? People who can’t park!
You are trapped on a tropical island - who would you like to be stranded with? Lol, well the fantasy is Chris Hemsworth, but the reality is I’d rather be stuck with my hubby, kids and of course, my animals!!
Pick one - Wine, Chocolate or shoes? No contest – chocolate every time J
Cats or dogs? Both. The more the merrier
What is your favorite food and beverage? That’s a hard thing to choose. But when I told my daughter that I have at least 10 cups of coffee a day, she did mention that I may have a problem, lol. Funny thing is I only drink decaf!
How many hours per day do you try to devote to research and writing? I try to always spend 6 hours in my office, either doing the admin side of things or writing. Some days it’s more on the admin side and others it’s more writing
What are 3 things you never leave home without (apart from keys, money, and phone)? Clothes, lippie and I always have to be wearing perfume. Does that count? J
Sleep in or get up early? Up early. When the weather is warmer I like to start the day with a walk along the beach at Mooloolaba.
Laptop or desktop for writing? Both, but mostly desktop
Your favorite gadget? I love my phone!
Where and when do you prefer to do your writing? I get most of my writing done in my office at home, but some days inspiration doesn’t strike. That’s when I grab the laptop and head to the beach. The sound of the waves clears my mind and helps get me back on track
Your thoughts on receiving book reviews - the good and the bad - Well, of course, it’s always nice to get those great reviews, and it hurts to get the bad ones. But my books aren’t for everyone, and I’m okay with that. I just prefer it when the reviewer is kind about it J
Do you have a bucket list? Kind of. I have some travel destinations that I’m slowly working through. We’ve done a lot of awesome places on the east coast of Australia, Alaska and Canada, and Hawaii. Western Australia is the next one on the list to visit
One of your favorite quotes – Life’s too short. Do it now
List 3 of your favorite movies? While You Were Sleeping, The Holiday, and anything with Chris Hemsworth, lol
