One day, I sat, feeling exhausted and stressed, looking at my computer screen and the pile of files on my desk, wondering, "When was the last time I actually did something fun? When was the last time I actually enjoyed myself?" After years of this, my brain finally screamed "ENOUGH! This cannot be your life!" I shut it down. All of it. I finished my last project, told all my clients I would not be taking any more work, turned off my cell and never turned it back on. It was one of the greatest day of my life.
I did something I've always wanted to do. I wrote a book, "Ruby Lake". Then I wrote another. Then another. Sure, I miss the money. After all, it's probably my second favorite thing. But was it worth it?

I often write myself into a corner and wonder how the @#$% am I going to get out of that one. So I might jump to another book for a bit. I don't really suggest that, but it is what I am doing.
As far as being totally blocked to where I can't get my mind going, I take a break. Look at the book and see what my purpose was for writing it. Often, I strayed to something else. Usually it's easy to fix.(less)
