Publishing News

Well, now you can thumb through it. Bend back the corner of a page. Smell it.Throw it at someone. Steady a chair with it. Hold a window open with it. Gift it to someone you love. Hide a weapon in it. I could go on. But. The news is: The Accidental Life Of Greg Millar is now available in paperback.
If this was Hollywood, I’d pitch it like this: Are you SUREyou really know the man you love?
Oh yeah. That got you thinking.

Who Am I?

When I started out on this self-publishing adventure, I wanted it to be a completely fresh start… for Aimee Alexander to be unconnected to anyone else. This was never entirely possible. At first, I felt that I should say on amazon that Aimee Alexander was the pen name of Denise Deegan (explained here).
As time has passed, people began to grow curious. I was asked to write an article about my journeyon writing.ie. I opened up a little more.It felt like...

Pause To Go Forward

So, last Friday, I reached my first big crossroads. I stood at it. Put my foot out, took it back in. Out. In. On repeat. The decision probably doesn’t seem like a huge one – to stay with amazon exclusively or go for wider distribution. My first three months on KDP Select with Pause to Rewind were up.There seemed a lot at stake.
Pause to Rewind has a pretty respectable ranking on amazon.com. It’s selling nicely and q...

Meet Talli Roland, self-publishing guru and general all-round honey
Once upon a time, four Irish writers who had never met before (and knew each other only through twitter), went on a road trip to the Romantic Novelists Association Conference in the UK. From the moment we sat into the car, our roles were decided. I was one of the children in the back. Which was nice. But that’s another story.
At the conference, we listened to author Talli Roland speakabout marketing as a self-published author. At the time, I was traditionally published. This seemedlike a diffe...

Feeling like Forrest Gump

Feeling a bit like Forrest Gump after Hurricane Carmen.
Thiswas my first Christmas as a self-publisher.I went in blind. BecauseI love Christmas,Ioffered my short story, Checkout Girl, for free and reduced the price of Pause to Rewind to 99c.I did not expect sales to fall.
I had not taken into account amazon’s Christmas promotions – wherethey slash the prices of high profile bestsellers. It was like sailing into a hurricane. All I could do was wait for it to pass and hope I was sti...

Second Novel Published

After two months in the wilderness, Pause to Rewind has a companion. Today, The Accidental Life of Greg Millar, makes its debut. I love the cover. I especially love that when you squint, you can see an angel – a happy accident.
Here’s the story:
Lucy Arigho is not the sort to be swept off her feet. She is sober, career-minded and numb since the death of her fiancé. It’s completely out of character for her to race a man in traffic – and even more unusual when they m...

Christmas gifts from me to you…

Christmaaaas! Yaaay!
Yes, I’m one of those people.
I can’t go by a snow globe without shaking it. I believe in Santa Claus. I’ve already watched Elf. I love that there is a time of year whenpeople remember each other.I lovelie-ins, log fires and snuggling up toread.
To share the love, I’m gifting Checkout Girl, the story of what happens when a Christmas angel takes a detour. Just visit amazon.com or amazon.co.uk, download and snuggle. Here’s an idea: if you like it, you could gift it t...

Paperback Writer
Shortly after I published Pause to Rewindas an ebook, a reader contacted me to see if I would be publishing a paperback as she wished to gift the story to two people. At the time, I had no plans to produce a paperback. Because of production costs, they are more expensive to produce, retail higher and are consequently less in demand on amazon.
Then I thought, well, this woman had a good experience and wants to share it which is pretty kind. Publishing a paperback would be an adventure. And the...
