Doing some edits and an excerpt...
I mentioned a couple of posts ago on my Facebook page that I'm in the process of going through my first novel, WHEN THE HEART FALLS, and doing some minor edits to the manuscript--just fixing some errors that I've found. So after reading through it, I kind of forgot how cute of a story it was, LOL. Dylan and Misty just make me smile, so I thought I'd share an excerpt of one of my favorite scenes
Dylan let out an exasperated sigh. “Misty, please move. I’ve got work to do.”
“No. Not until you talk to me and we get this straightened out. Now where did you get the idea that I was taking Brad back?”
He dropped the bale of hay at his feet, removed his work gloves, and threw them on the floor. “I heard the two of you talking at the hospital.”
“What exactly did you hear?”
“Enough,” he said and took a seat on the bale of hay.
“Well obviously you heard wrong because the conversation I had with him didn’t end with me saying that I’d take him back,” she said heatedly.
“Misty, I heard you tell him that you love him. I think that pretty much sums it all up,” he threw back at her.
“Well maybe if you had stuck around long enough and talked to me you would have learned that I didn’t mean to tell him that I love him,” she yelled back, her voice increasing in volume.
“People don’t just say ‘I love you’, Misty. You had to mean it to say it.”
“I did mean it, Dylan!”
“I rest my case,” he said, throwing his hands up in defeat and moving to a standing position.
“I didn’t mean to say it to Brad. When I said it I thought I was talking to you!” she said, taking a deep breath to calm her anger.
A shocked expression spread across his face. “What?” he almost whispered.
She took another deep breath and replied, “The room was dark and I had just woken up. I remember calling out for you and a voice said ‘I’m here,’” she explained calmly.
He crossed the hay loft floor to where she stood and stopped a foot away from her. “You love me?”
She nodded her head and a slight smile tickled the corners of her mouth. “Yes,” she whispered.

The first thing you need to know about me is that I genuinely believe in true love and soul mates. I met my wonderful husband when we were still at school. I was sixteen, he was seventeen, we are high school sweethearts. Now more than twenty five years later, we are still very much in love and are happily married with two beautiful children. We live in picturesque New Zealand and I consider ourselves lucky to live in this magnificent part of the world. I do have a full time job, but in my spare minutes I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and reading. I’m an avid reader and tend to chomp through a large volume of books, mainly in the romance genre. And of course my other major ‘hobby’ is writing steamy rock star erotic romances!I started writing in early 2014. After spending many years writing business documentation, and constantly being inspired by numerous romance novels, I decided to try my hand at fictional writing. After penning my first scene I discovered that I enjoyed it immensely and so resolved to continue with the rest of the story that was swirling in my imagination. That story resulted in my first novel, Heaven Sent. My Oblivion on Tour Series follows the five band members of the hard rock group Oblivion. Each book in the series follows a different band member and their quest for love. Book 1 - Heaven Sent - Ash and Eve’s storyBook 2 - Bolt From The Blue - Nikki and Trixie’s storyBooks 3, 4 & 5 will each tell Cody, Scott and Hansen’s stories.I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them.

Happy New Year 2015!
I'm really not one for making New Year's resolutions--mainly because when I do I never stick to them--but I really want to put forth an effort to make some positive changes. One of those changes is to blog more. I use to blog a lot (for me) and then I completely slacked off after I had my second child. Hopefully that will change this year and I'll be posting more randomness for you all to enjoy here instead of just on my Facebook page. The second, and most important one, is to write more! The stress and busyness of the holidays really put a damper on my writing time. I'm really anxious to get myself set on a schedule this year and dedicate more time to my passion. With that being said, I want to let you know that the third book in The McKades of Texas Series--Luke's story--is definitely in the works! The book will definitely be released this year, but I don't have a set release date yet. I promise that I will keep you posted with updates on when his story will be available :)
Thank you all for an amazing 2014! I wasn't sure what to expect when I released Norah's story--after not releasing a new novel for two years--but the positive feedback for her story has just blown me away! The most any writer could ever ask for is for people to love their work. For me, it isn't about becoming rich or famous, it's about doing something that I love and being able to share that with people who love it equally as much as I do! So thank you for being the awesome readers and friends a gal could ask for!
Happy New Year, y'all!

Quote of the Day 12/29
“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”

My "Loving Lauren" by Jill Sanders Review
Lauren had been raised to not be afraid of anything, and she lived by that code, that is until her dad died and left everything in her hands. Now she’s not only in charge of her two younger sisters, but she’s running a full-blown Texas ranch. Caring for a thousand‑acre ranch has its ups and downs, physically, mentally, and financially. All she is looking for is a little break. What she doesn't have time for is someone who will only complicate her life further. Chase is back in his hometown. Helping his dad with his veterinary practice is high on his list. So is being with the lovely Lauren West. Years ago, he found a unique way to bind them together. Now all he has to do is prove to her that he’s the right man to spend the rest of her life with.
My Review:In this first book of the West Series we meet Lauren West. Lauren is the responsible, level-headed, older sister of Alexis and Hailey. She’s also in charge of running her family’s ranch after the untimely death of her father. Running a ranch is hard enough, but add in the fact that Lauren’s father was in debt to his two best friends doesn’t make things any easier for our young heroine. In steps Lauren’s childhood friend Chase Graham. Chase has had a thing for Lauren for as long as he can remember, and seeing her struggle just kills him. So he makes her a business proposition…he’ll give her the money she needs to save her ranch if she marries him. In an act of desperation, Lauren accepts and the two marry in a super-secret ceremony that no one ever knows about. Lauren is able to save her ranch, and Chase has tied himself to the woman he loves just in time for him to leave for college. Fast forward seven years later, Chase moves back home with the intentions of winning Lauren over and making their marriage real instead of just a business deal. But Lauren isn’t having any part of it. She doesn’t want to be considered anyone’s charity case and has worked hard over the past seven years to pay Chase back so they can get divorced. But with Chase around all the time, Lauren soon realizes her true feelings for him and finds herself wanting this marriage to be the real deal.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the characters, sharp dialogue, and the story very much. Lauren is such a hard-working, loving person, but I did find myself mentally bashing her for being so darn stubborn when it came to Chase. She just wouldn’t let the guy catch a break :) Chase is such a sweet-heart, and so darn sexy. I just loved him!
The story that unfolds for Lauren and Chase is truly wonderful and completely heartfelt, with some unexpected added suspense/action thrown in. Although I enjoyed that added bit of suspense/action, I really don’t think the novel needed it. It was a solid read without that, but of course that’s just my personal reader opinion. I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy contemporary romances.
I purchased this book for my own reading enjoyment. I was in no way compensated for this review. These thoughts are my own and are no way influenced by others. Thank you!
