Snippet Saturday – We Are Family
It’s that time again. A new snippet, this time with the theme of family. If you’ve read more than a couple of my books I am sure you have discovered that I have a thing for brothers. The Black Cougar series started from a trio of brothers, The Pentacles of Magick series is about 4 brothers who are also 2 sets of twins, and Frost Bitten is about 2 brothers who fall together for Daisy the Jaguar.
I’m fascinated by close knit siblings probably because I don’t have that traditional family. While I have half and step siblings, I am the only child from the union of my mother and father. And I am much older than everyone else.
Since the Black Cougars began my love affair with siblings I have chosen a snippet from Lucas. Kira, the heroine in Lucas didn’t have much experience with siblings but by the end of the book that had definitely changed. A lot.
Enjoy the snippet:
The car stopped and Kira snapped awake. Her thoughts were cloudy and she couldn’t seem to focus. Only one thought lingered. Must get away, find a place to hide. Don’t go with him anymore.
Lucas opened her door and she stepped out of the car onto the soft, muddy ground. The dirt was red, reminding her of the red clay of North Carolina. Home. Looking up, she noticed they’d parked in front of a small cabin nestled in the trees at the base of a mountain. The color and texture of the structure blended with the terrain, creating a natural camouflage, probably preventing anyone from spotting it at a distance. A good spot to hide someone. Her stomach dropped.
“Where are we?” Just then she noticed a tall, handsome man approaching them, and she nervously looked at Lucas. Sweat broke out on her forehead as she took a couple of steps backwards, sinking into the mud.
“This is my home.”
The other man moved closer, a grin splitting across his handsome face. She imagined those kind of good looks probably got him whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Probably left a string of broken hearts behind as well. When he came within reach, Lucas pulled the man to him for a friendly hug.
“Lucas, it’s about damn time you got back here.” The stranger turned to her and drank her in like a fine wine. Slow and careful. “And who is this you’ve brought with you? A present for me?”
“Hardly, asshole. Kane, this is Akira. Akira, this is Kane, my youngest brother.
“Half brother actually, which explains why I am so much better looking than Lucas here.” Kane’s response and smile were lost on her as an illogical fear gripped her, squeezing in on her like an inescapable vise.
At the word brother, Kira’s heart rate had sped up and her face clouded in distress. She jerked her hand away from him, turned, and without uttering a single word, ran into the woods.
“Kira, what are you doing? What’s wrong?” She didn’t answer and he glanced at Kane with a scowl on his face and shrugged.
Kane laughed. “Having trouble keeping your women nowadays, big brother? You must be turning into a really scary guy if they take off running through the woods the minute you get near them.”
“Shut up and take this inside. I’ll be back in a minute.” He handed Kira’s duffle bag to his brother and took off in the direction she had run. As he left the drive, he heard Kane’s mocking laugh behind him.
Has was so going to paddle her ass for this.

BDSM Unleashed Giveaway Hop
Welcome to my stop of the BDSM Unleashed blog hop, I’m so happy you stopped by. Over the next seven days you have a chance to read some great blogs and win some fabulous prizes including the $100 giftcard grand prize. See below for more details on prizes.
I started writing BDSM romance in 2006 as a brand new writer. Writers are often encouraged to write what they know and love so that’s what I did. Although I didn’t know as much about BDSM back then as I thought, I did know what was in my heart and that’s what I try to express on the page every time I write a new book.
My first BDSM romance was my short story Submissive Secrets. It’s a bit different from how I write them now simply because over the years we writers grow in new directions the more we write, hopefully improving our craft.
I now have two BDSM series and more than a dozen titles in the genre I adore. This includes my first full length novel, Submissive Beauty. I write about fetishes that fascinate me, I explore menage relationships regularly, but more often than not you’ll notice my focus always circles back to the D/s portion of the BDSM acronym. The emotional heart of the power exchange between a consenting Dominant and submissive.
That is where my heart belongs…
In addition to the awesome $100 gift card we playroom authors plan to give away, I have some prizes too. At least three of you have the opportunity to win my new Submissive Beauty packs that include a gorgeous black beauty mask among other goodies. I’ll also give away 3 digital copies of ebooks from my BDSM backlist. (readers choice)
All you have to do to win one of my prizes is leave a comment here at the blog. Tell me some of your favorite things about BDSM romance or just say hi! Then click on the link below to visit the BDSM Playroom blog and the other fun blogs participating this week. Hop to it. Don’t make me spank you!

Snippet Saturday – Author’s Choice
If you are here for the Angels and Demons Blog Hop, scroll down for that post.
Today is author’s choice and I happen to be in a little mood this morning that drew me to Power Play. I loved writing Jennifer and Daegan’s story and I never seem to tire of it. *grins*
In this excerpt they’ve been locked in the dark room at Pleasure Playground and Jennifer’s nerves are getting the best of her. This scene sparked the entire book.
Enjoy!
Excerpt:
Unease gripped Jennifer’s stomach at the same time fire erupted between her legs. She’d had no idea how hard this would be without her sight. She’d never once allowed someone to blindfold her, and this was much worse. She couldn’t just reach up and rip a cloth from her eyes and watch her world rebalance. Absolutely nothing would take away the darkness until morning.
She took a deep breath and let her mind wander to her normal comfort zone, the place where she was in control despite what happened to her body. On autopilot as if she were at a modeling job, she pushed her hands through the leather restraints and grabbed on to the metal bars. Although no amount of previous experience stopped the tremors shaking her muscles like jelly.
Daegan’s big hand cupped her pussy and pressed a finger against her clit with steady pressure that shot pleasure straight to her core. Her head buzzed with sensation.
“Do you really want to stop now?” he asked. She opened her mouth to answer and no words came out. If she said yes, it would only be another lie on top of all the other lies she’d used to try and convince them both she didn’t want this.
“How do you feel, Jennifer?”
“I don’t…”
He growled before she could finish.
“Yes, you do. Your legs are shaking, your pussy is dripping, and I’ll bet your clit aches for me to move my hand like this.” He swept his wicked fingers in a short tight circle over and over again. More pressure built. Her insides tightened in a bright coil. The orgasm she’d fought earlier climbed ever closer. Much more and she’d lose all control, becoming mindless to the pleasure.
Then he stopped as quickly as he started.
“Submission isn’t about learning to overcome fear. It’s simply accepting it. Fear is your body’s natural response to the unknown, and it’s not going away. Fear excites you, doesn’t it, love?”
Oh God, she didn’t want to admit it. Everything excited her. The more depraved, the better. She wasn’t afraid of what he’d do to her physically. In fact, if she believed he simply wanted a physical relationship, she’d be all for it. She’d overhead Chase and Eve discussing Daegan’s sadist tendencies. But this… She’d never felt this.
“I don’t understand it,” she admitted. He wanted the truth, and that was her truth. Nothing less and nothing more.
“Do you even want to understand it? You hide too much. You push people away. You run away like a jackrabbit if someone gets too close. You’ll never get very far like that. Is that what you want?”
His words hit a nerve far too deep. She struggled with the loops around her hands as tears burned her eyes. With no small amount of time, she finally managed to free one hand and started to lift from the bench.
A hand pressed against her back, pinning her in place. Then he covered her with his warm, hard body, setting off a tingling sensation inside her despite her intentions to resist.
“You’ve got nowhere to go this time.”
“I feel stupid, Daegan. I have no idea how to be what you want me to be. I’m not—”
“If you say you aren’t submissive one more time, I will take off my belt and use it,” he threatened. His hand still at her pussy squeezed, rubbing her mindless before she could respond. “I can teach you what you need to learn. You’ve already agreed for tonight, so you only need to answer me honestly and do as you’re told. That’s it. Stop trying to analyze everything I say and do. That’s my job.”

Angels and Demons Blog Hop: Cover Reveal
Welcome to the Angels and Demons Blog Hop! I am but one of many stops on the hop but I hope you’ll enjoy your visit to my site and then visit the others for over 100 chances to win fabulous prizes. (more info about that at the bottom of the post)
When it comes to the topic at hand, Angels or Demons, I must admit I lean towards the demons. Although I have heard some delicious rumors about fallen angels and Castiel on Supernatural is by far one of my favorite TV characters.
But I write demons and in particular one crazy blonde, red leather wearing, AC/DC loving demon named Melody.
I’m talking about my book called Dirty Deeds. It’s been out of print for a while now but I’ve been working hard at getting it ready for re-release and you can expect it to hit retailers by July 4th, fireworks and all.
Today I’d like to give you the exclusive first look at the new cover, designed by the always fabulous Mina Carter.
And a couple of snippets from the upcoming release of Dirty Deeds:
“I tried to tell you I wasn’t cut out to be a soul-sucking bitch.” Melody cast her gaze down, evading her boss’s compelling eyes, afraid of the look. A summons to the depths of hell for an impromptu job performance review wasn’t her idea of fun.
and another:
“Oh Christ, Melody, I can feel your heat. You need me, baby.” His lips slanted over hers, crushing her with his hot mouth. Devouring her. His hand fumbled with the key code lock, all the while continuing his exploration of her mouth. The door broke free and Melody tumbled backward into the room. He wrapped his firm muscular arm around her waist, catching her before she fell to the floor.
For participating in the hop and commenting on the various blogs, here’s what you can win:
One grand prize winner will get a brand new Kindle Touch
and
One grand prize winner will get a $60 Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift card.
In addition to the grand prizes I have a couple you can win as well.
One lucky winner will get a digital ARC of Dirty Deeds in the format of their choice before it’s released.
AND
One winner will get a special “Dirty Deeds” T-shirt (US ONLY)

Snippet Saturday – I Want You To Want Me
OMG today’s theme is I want you to want me and I now have the awesome Cheap Trick song running through my head non stop. LOL
Want the earworm for yourself? Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMG7b3LYaAM
My favorite line:
I’m begging you to beg me. *grins*
For today’s snippet I am pulling from my m/m/f story, Their Obsession and one of my favorite scenes. It includes lots of chocolate and a heavy dose of lust as Aidan gives in to the need he feels for Jayde. Sex in the kitchen…mmm…
Snippet:
Aidan woke to the smell of baking chocolate, a sweet aroma that made his mouth water. The house smelled like Katriona again. What the hell? He turned to Marc and planted a kiss on his shoulder. “I’m going to go check on Jayde. I’ll be back shortly.”
Marc mumbled something he couldn’t understand, but didn’t move.
He slid from the bed and snagged a pair of jeans from the back of the chair. The aroma drifting through the house made his mouth water and his stomach grumble. But if what he thought was going on down there actually was, it wouldn’t be food he was hungry for once he saw her. Partially dressed, he slipped from their apartment and headed down the steps, taking two at a time.
The lights were dimmed in the entire building until he reached the entrance to the bakery, but even there, no lights shone in the main area. Instead a low glow came from the door leading to the kitchen. Outside the front window, it was pitch-black, as the sun had gone down many hours ago. He and Marc had spent the entire day and evening giving Jayde some space to deal with it all, but waiting to have her had damn near driven them into a sexual frenzy as everything about her called to them both. Katriona had laughed when they’d scoffed at the idea that her granddaughter would be their fate; now they questioned how they could avoid it. A chill swept over him, from either the cool room or just the sense of inevitability he faced. He should have snagged a shirt too.
Unsure of what he would find in the kitchen, he eased the door open slowly. The heat of the room rushed out, enveloping him in warmth and scents of deep, dark chocolate.
The counters were covered in tray after tray of varying types of fudge. He recognized peanut butter, chocolate chip, raspberry swirl, and of course, his favorite—dark chocolate. In the midst of all this sweet-smelling perfection stood Jayde, looking good enough to eat herself. Her red curls were tucked tightly behind her ears, her skin flushed a pale pink from the heat and her efforts. The vigor in which she stirred her latest creation heated his blood. He would like to see that look of intense concentration on her face as she sucked his cock deep into her throat.
Blood pounded in his dick. A feral desire to be naked and free gripped his insides. He needed nothing more right now than the sensation of plunging into her wet heat. He should have made Marc come down with him. His defenses were crumbling, and he hadn’t even gotten close to her yet.
She’d shucked her blouse, probably because of the heat, and now stood there in a turquoise lace camisole and a skirt. Funny how she always wore skirts that had her constantly tugging at the hemlines trying to cover herself. He didn’t understand why. Her body was lush and full, driving him wild every time he got near her. He and Marc had been going at each other nonstop since she’d arrived, fucking every chance they got. Desire for her did that to them. They needed each other now more than ever, but Jayde’s arrival had upped the ante. Destiny or not, they both ached for her on a level so deep it’s as if she’d taken up residence inside him. Aidan rubbed his chest. Every day Marc reminded him that she wasn’t ready. That they had to wait.
He didn’t want to wait anymore. Couldn’t.
“Jayde.” He spoke softly in the hopes of not startling her, but she gasped and looked at him with wild fear nonetheless.
Her hand clutched at her chest. “Oh, Aidan, you scared me to death. I didn’t think anyone else was still awake.”
“The smell in here woke me.”
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what came over me. I dug out gran’s recipe book, and well, next thing I know, I’ve tried every flavor of fudge she had listed.” She swept her hand around the room, shying away from his gaze.
“It is nice to see someone cooking in here again.”
“Well, I’m in here, and I’m following these recipes, but I have to be honest—I’m not much of a cook. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever made anything that others have deemed edible. But after Beth came by this morning, I felt obligated to at least try. I think my grandmother would have expected that.”
She turned to the counter and picked up the big leather bound book that her grandmother had stored far more than simple recipes in.
“But these recipes… They’re so odd. What was gran up to before she died?” Jayde moved closer and pointed to Katriona’s scribblings along the borders of each page. “I don’t know what all these symbols mean?”
Aidan froze. Shit. If she freaked out on him… He wasn’t sure she was ready to hear the significance of her grandmother’s “scribblings” as she put it. Over time as the veil between good and evil wore thin, it had become necessary for the more powerful witches to hide their dangerous spells. For Katriona it made sense to use the recipe book she guarded at all times. Eventually, when Jayde was ready, Marc would teach her how to combine the recipes with the hidden code to tap into the true depth of her power.
“She doodled a lot.” He kept his answer as non-committal as possible. It wouldn’t do to get caught in a lie down the road.
Jayde shrugged. “I guess. Although something about them remind me of something from a long time ago.”
He turned around the room again, surveying all the hard work she had put into creating all these trays of fudge. He desperately needed a change of subject. “I find it hard to believe that you can’t cook, sweetheart. It smells divine in here.” He zeroed in on the oversize tray of the dark chocolate and strode over to it. “This flavor is my favorite.”
She raced around the corner to where he stood. “I’m…uh…I’m not sure you want to eat that.”
“Why not? It looks delectable.” But if she didn’t want to share her chocolate, he could certainly suggest an alternative. His cock thickened, aching.
“It’s probably not any good.”
He frowned. “I think you underestimate yourself.” Still, he understood how much approval from those around you meant to a person’s soul. He plucked a piece from the tray and brought it to his nose, inhaling the combination of chocolate and vanilla. “It smells really good. Guess there’s only one way to find out.” He quickly took a bite, amused by the look of horror splashed across her face.
The familiar flavor of Katriona’s fudge and something extra exploded in his mouth. It was like a sensual stroke on his tongue that shot sensations straight to his groin.
“You aren’t saying anything. Oh God, It’s awful; I knew it. Let me get you something to drink.” She started to turn away, and he grabbed her arm, pulling her body against his.
“No, Jayde. It’s incredible. Have you even tried any of them?”
She shook her head. “I was afraid to. They looked pretty and I wanted that to be enough.”
On a sigh, he lifted the fudge to her mouth. “Open.”
Slowly, her ruby lips parted, opening for the confection. His pulse hammered in his head, pounding with a lust that wouldn’t be denied. When her mouth closed over the treat and she bit off a piece, he set the chocolate aside. The look on her face was priceless as the fear slid away and was replaced with a rapture he knew all too well.

Hot Summer Nights Blog Hop!
Welcome to the Hot Summer Nights Erotica Blog Hop! Where we get to talk about the sexy summer and all that entails. Big thanks to Skye Warren for hosting this fun hop. Be sure to follow the blog trail for lots of chances to win prizes and more. I’m giving away digital copies of Burned, my 4th stand alone Purgatory story that features the hottest fetish I could find, (pun intended) FIRE! **See below for the awesome grand prizes being given away**
The hop runs from June 20th – June 24th so you have plenty of time to visit everyone!
But first things first. Hot summer nights. Having just moved from the smoking hot south to the Pacific Northwest I know all about those hot sultry nights. Even if I have managed to find a much cooler place to live. It doesn’t take much to heat up any summer evening no matter where you live.
When it comes to sex and summer one of the things that always comes to my mind is sex in the outdoors. Whether it’s in your own backyard or you’re the especially adventurous type and enjoy sneaking in some smexy time in a more public venue.
My Purgatory series is all about fetishes and if you happen to be like Emerson in Displayed, exhibitionism is right up your alley. While her story focuses on sex in public in the safety of the Purgatory club, I’ve heard many stories of things happening in restaurants, parking lots, movie theaters, parks, cars etc. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*
I’ve definitely sprinkled a scene or two of some sort of public sex in my books in the past and you can bet it will happen again. I love writing about the fearful excitement in a scene like that. Where one or both of the characters want it so bad they are willing to set aside their fear of getting caught even for a moment.
I think a scene in a wide open summer flower field with no one around at the moment would be incredibly sexy. (writing this down in my idea folder as I type. lol) The heat of the sun on your face. The gorgeous colors of summer flowers around you as your lover touches you…
Let your imagination run wild. Even if public sex isn’t your thing in real life it can be a ton of fun in fiction.
For a chance to win a copy of Burned (or another backlist title of your choice if you already owned Burned) leave a comment on this blog and let me know if you enjoy reading about public summer sex in your fiction.
Here’s a bit more about Burned:
Welcome back to Purgatory! A club for every fetish…
Being a fire inspector is the perfect job for a girl with a fire fetish. Ruby has come to terms with her obsession, and thanks to her part-time job as a bartender at Purgatory, she can dabble in a scene she isn’t sure she belongs in without going too far or too deep. But there’s one Dom in town who makes her burn for things she wishes she didn’t.
Zane made sure he was on the performance roster at Purgatory for charity night because Ruby would be on duty. He’s respected her wishes to stay away as long as he could, but tonight while his fire burns bright he’ll take possession of the willful beauty who has captured his heart.

Goodbye NC, I will Miss You
If you follow me at all on Twitter or Facebook you already know I am in the process of moving from North Carolina to the Pacific Northwest.
My last week in Charlotte was more than a little bittersweet and there is so much I will miss about the South but more than anything I will miss the friends and family who have been so wonderful.
A week ago a fantastic group of Charlotte authors (Dahlia Rose, Tressie Lockwood, Lissa Matthews, Sabrina Luna, Crymsyn Hart, and Yvette Hines) bid me adieu at a luncheon at our favorite french bakery, Amelies. It was a special moment that I will treasure forever. I can’t even begin to express how much I will miss these incredible women. (they were so sweet with the gifts too! Check out Alcide!) Unfortunately my group picture turned out too blurry.
I also had two wonderful friends take me out to my favorite mexican place for dinner and delicious mango margaritas. Another awesome memory! (thanks Kathleen and Dee!)
The rest of the week was spent in a flurry of packing, cleaning and painting with family and friends as we prepared to leave the house we’d spent the last thirteen years in. (not to mention tearful goodbyes)
With the work done and the cars packed, I took one last picture of the house before the caravan pulled out and we pointed the vehicles west. Look out west coast here we come!

Snippet Saturday
This week’s snippet is about mending a broken heart. While this snippet doesn’t get to the mending yet, there is sooo much heart break between Chey and Malcolm.
Since I’m on the road this week as I move from the east coast to the west coast, it’s a short one but I hope you enjoy.
Excerpt:
“Go home, Malcolm. We’re done.” She prayed for once he’d listen.
“You think so do you?”
She swallowed, trying to force the lump from her throat. “We are. With Kane sending his lackey out here to check up on me, I’m pulling myself off this job. As far as I’m concerned, you’re off the hook. If you choose to deal with him on your own that’s on you. I don’t play games or politics so your brother can kiss my ass.”
“No, actually he can’t. No one is ever going to touch you but me.”
She jerked her head up and met his all too serious gaze. Shocked that he seemed to mean every last word. “What’s going on here?” She pushed at his hand on her thigh as it moved perilously close to the heated juncture between her legs. “You really need to stop touching me now.”
“Why?” His hand skirted along her hip to the flat expanse of her belly, leaving a trail of heat and desire in its wake. When he was about to graze her breast, she gasped and pulled his hand away.
“I’m leaving.” She wriggled away from him and threw her leg over the gearshift to switch seats. If he refused to stop then she’d take control and do what needed to be done, which right now was get as far away from Malcolm Gunn as possible before the animal inside her clawed its way out to reach him. Already, the cries in her head were out of hand and desperate. She’d been, unbelievably, about to push her hips into his hand when he’d moved around them instead.
Humiliation burned her cheeks as she considered that. It had just been too long, she tried to convince herself. That’s all. About to plant her butt on the butter soft leather seat, Malcolm grabbed her around the waist and yanked her back down into the passenger chair where he proceeded to wrap and lock the seat belt across her thighs.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Her lips curled into a snarl as her growing teeth poked at her lip. Shocked by the twin pricks of pain, she automatically looked down at her arms to see if any more of the change process had begun.
“Take a few deep breaths, darling, and relax. We’re just going to talk until you can calm her down and lock her back inside.” He glanced around the newly crowded parking lot. “Unfortunately this is not the place for us to lose control.”
“I never lose control,” she hissed.
“You will, darling, and very soon.” He quickly brushed his lips across her jaw before jumping out of her reach.
Everything he did and said incited the anger and need building inside her. Fortunately, at least a small section of her brain still worked properly enough to keep her mouth shut and her breathing even. It was her only hope of regaining control. With this level of sexual lust coursing through her, the slightest tussle with any emotion would do nothing but fan the flames and leave her a writhing mess. Then where would she be?
Fucking the most gorgeous man I’ve ever had the pleasure to hate in the middle of the parking lot of a flipping Waffle House, that’s where.

Saturday Snippet – For Shame
Sometimes a character does something so bad or many things so bad, that you wonder how he will ever come back from that. Those tend to be the big writing challenges and the characters you end up loving the most.
Such is the case with Malcolm from my Black cougar trilogy. He’s done some pretty bad stuff. More than once and I wasn’t sure I could do his story justice. But I sat down and wrote the book and cried like a baby when I ripped his heart out and stompted on it. So lest you think he didn’t pay for his sins…he does.
This excerpt might be a bit of a spoiler but its the first really bad thing he did and the one that would torment him for a very long time.
Excerpt from Malcolm: Chey has had to reunite with Malcolm for the greater good and this is the memory that she is reliving that forever changed both their futures. It’s dark and it’s heartbreaking, but it’s real. Just as life often is.
On the drive back to Malcolm’s house at the edge of the Nantahala national forest, Chey’s skin crawled from doing nothing. She desperately wanted to glare at him, yell at him—hell, even jumping from the Jeep and disappearing into the early morning light just peeking over the horizon sounded good.
Arousal, anger and guilt were not a good combination and she needed some time to clear her head. It was the arousal more than anything that puzzled her. Her body burned for a man that was, for all intents and purposes, a criminal. The profile she’d compiled on him over the years spoke of a rebellious but loyal teenager who’d worshipped his mother. After she died, things began to change. For one, he’d met her. Unfortunately, she remembered the day as clearly as if it had been yesterday, not five years ago.
She’d crossed over into his clan’s territory on a dare and he’d hunted her. From the moment she’d scented him something shifted inside her. His presence tugged continuously at her mind. However, fear of a black cougar had practically been bred in her so she raced back to the neutral zone where she belonged. That first day she’d not seen him, but she’d known he watched her from somewhere close by. His scent enthralled her.
Chey’d returned every single night, playing chicken with a Death Enforcer. Until one night, he’d decided to capture her. He’d gone from cougar to man in an instant, pouncing on her before she even blinked. Every cell in her body had lit up that night and she’d been prepared to take him as her first. They’d wrestled and fought, scratched and bit until finally Malcolm pinned her to the ground belly down.
He’d entered her from behind in one dark, fast and thrilling thrust that made her scream from the glorious pain and pleasure. Their cries of passion and lust filled the night air until they were both lost in the frenzy. Then he’d frozen above her. He’d scrambled to his feet spewing insults she’d never expected from the man she’d inexplicably trusted. He shifted back to the sleek cougar she’d been awed by and disappeared into the woods.
