June Book Spotlight

Life Lesson: When a bear follows you into the woods, HIDE.I’m starting a new monthly feature that will spotlight one of my books and this month it’s  BEARLY DATED!  This newsletter is filled with lots of cool stuff about  BEARLY DATED,  a fun, action packed shifter romance! It’s pretty steamy too.“With strong personalities, an instant connection, and a HEA that almost didnt happen, the author kept me glued to my seat until the end.”  –  Sydney M Neblett, Amazon reviewerBearly Dated is a sweet gem. Many of my readers haven’t picked it up, and they are really missing out on this story. For those who love all my other shifter romances that includes big cats, wolves and dragons, are missing out on a great growly bear. And of course, it doesn’t disappoint in my usual steam. Here’s the blurb for Bearly Dated:Deputy Carter Stone has been in a bad mood since a series of outsiders arrived in Enigma Falls, leaving a  trail of problems in their wake. Now hes been assigned to protect one of those problems and shes his mate. However, Violet isnt looking for a relationship with him or his bear. She informs him shes been there and done that, and already burned the T-shirt. Have you ever tried to keep a free-spirited, crystal shaking, hammer wielding woman safe? Yeah him either  Bearly Dated is HOT! This story also has enough suspense to keep even the most suspense lover happy. The chemistry between Violet and Carter is off the charts!!! It was love at first page for me . – Wendy Bowen, Amazon reviewer

“Lovedthis book! This is the first book in this series that I have read, but Icouldn’t put it down. It made me laugh out loud many times.”– Joana, Goodreads Reviewer

This was a fun fast paced read that really had all the emotions you could want, along with the drama, danger and steam to keep you madly flipping pages  – Lisa Bing, Goodreads reviewer Here’s an excerpt of Bearly Dated: Right now, she felt like she’d won the freaking lottery. “Oh my God, Carter,” she shrieked.”Mmhmm,” he mumbled against her skin, not letting go. The man seemed pretty determined to drive her crazy. He switched to her other breast and repeated the alternating licks and sucks until she literally writhed underneath him.”I can’t take it.”He lifted his head and looked down at her. “Yes, you can. Besides, I’m just getting started.”She groaned. He’d lit a fire inside her that no doubt would actually burn her alive. That had not been a joke. But if she thought his touch at her breast was unbearable, she nearly jumped to the sky when he reached between them and ran a finger along the inside of her thigh. That touch sparked a tremble that shook both thighs uncontrollably. If she was about to die now, what the heck would happen when he actually made love to her? She feared it was too much and clawed at his arms for more.Carter suddenly released her breast and slammed his lips against hers on a deep growl. “Mine,” he whispered harshly, his tone downright gravelly now. That word should have scared her. It did scare her. The intensity was so much, so fast. But there were no words that would stop it. Not when she ached for him to take her.”Make love to me, Carter. Please.”Oh and once you finish reading Bearly Dated, there’s a special exclusive bonus scene available to newsletter subscribers. It’s listed at the back of the book. If you’ve already read Bearly Dated and you somehow missed the bonus, you can find it here.

What did you think of this spotlight? I really hope it intrigued you enough to give it a read. I really enjoyed writing this book especially since our heroine was renovating a cabin on the river, which is an endeavor I did myself a few years ago and boy do I miss that cabin. We used it as an airbnb, but sold it right before the pandemic and wow did that turn out to be a good decision.

Thank you so much for reading my books. Your support and readership means everything to me.

xoxo

Release Week Thanks

Hey there !

What a release week. I still can’t believe The Curse of the Dragon hit the top 100 list at Amazon and #2 on the Werewolves and Shifter list. I owe that to all of the wonderful readers out there like you and will be forever grateful for all of your support now and throughout this crazy journey.

When I decided to write a historical paranormal romance, I knew I was going waaaaay outside my comfort zone.

But I was so in love with watching Bridgerton on Netflix that I really wanted to try it. But then when I decided to abandon a regency era story in favor of a near Gilded age story set in my Southern Shifters world, I kind of thought I’d lost my mind. lol

But the more I tried to write Galen’s story (the next Southern Shifters novel), the more I needed to know about the history of my dragons. And thus Ian and Cordelia’s story was born.

While I probably won’t be writing anymore historical novels, since that’s not my particular strong suit, we likely have not seen the last of Ian and Cordelia. Especially since they have sons waiting for their own stories who will want to share some of their family history. Good thing Dragons usually live a really long time.

And speaking of…It’s time to get back to that “other” dragon book. The one that comes after One Crazy Wolf.

I just keep calling it “that dragon book” because I am struggling to come up with a title worthy of Galen.

Got any ideas? Let me know. How much fun would it be if you or another supportive reader got to name my book?

Have you read The Curse of the Dragon and One Crazy Wolf  yet?

SPOILER ALERT:

Did you realize Kenzie in One Crazy Wolf  is the youngest daughter of Ian and Cordelia.

But she still has those five pesky brothers waiting for their turns in the spotlight, including Galen’s story, that I started some time ago.

Time to finish it. XOXOIn case you missed it…My Latest Release

Curse of the Dragon Now Available

Hey there!

Oh my gosh the release of The Curse of the Dragon, my latest paranormal shapeshifter romance with dragons is here and i’m so excited. Typical new release nerves though.

As per usual lately, this book ended up a lot longer than I’d planned AND it’s definitely one of my steamier paranormal books.

I guess I got carried away. hehehe

My greatest hope is that you will love it and recommend it to all your friends.

If you write a review, share it on social media or what have you, please let me know so I can personally thank you. That would mean a lot to me.

For now though, I’ve teased you below with an excerpt that I hope makes you want to read more!

The Curse of the dragon

Get ready. This ugly duckling story is a high heat wild ride that includes mating heat, knotting, wayward barbs, and a curse that REALLY cannot be broken.

Are you wanting a sneak peek of these sexy dragon shifters? See below!

Excerpt:

Cordelia

As I stood on the balcony overlooking the vast grounds surrounding Ferguson Castle, I tried desperately to ignore the allure of the man standing less than a foot away. Ever since dinner, hed stuck to my side like glue, and I was loathe to admit that I loved it. I was in serious trouble, and I didn’t know what to do. Whatever this was between us, it was growing stronger by the hour, and I feared I would take drastic measures whether I wanted to or not. It was a completely irrational thought, but I couldnt seem to help myself.

I rubbed my hands up and down my arms, trying to relieve the sensation of being out of control, to no avail. I needed to consult my cards and see if I could glean any information about what might be going on. Was there some kind of magic or spell the dragon possessed that could play tricks on me? I should have asked more questions about them before our arrival. Or I could talk to Lettie more about them. She had a vast knowledge about many things and a deep well of magic to call upon. But she too had begun acting strange since the minute wed arrived.

Are you cold? Should we go back inside?

Ian’s deep, masculine voice drifted across my bare skin, sending a shiver racing down my spine. I shook my head. Inside only made it worse. Without the open air, I could only smell the wildness of him. A heady scent of fire, musk, and man that seemed to beckon me closer. It was the most unique thing Id ever experienced, and I couldnt seem to get enough of it.

What the hell was wrong with me? I didnt know him at all. Ian was certainly attractive, and I could chalk up my interest in him as perfectly normal for a woman my age who had never been with a man. But thisthis was different.

It was as if my whole being was building towards something big, and I didn’t know how else to explain it. Only that it had something to do with him.

Heat was building in my core with every passing minute, and I couldnt stop rubbing my legs together, trying to ease the pressure between them. Not to mention the slick moisture soaking my undergarments. I understood what it meant. I was a virgin, not an idiot. I’d just never experienced anything quite like this or had anything described like this to me. This did not seem normal.

You keep rubbing your arms and fidgeting. Is something else wrong, then? Can I assist? Ian took a step closer to my side, and my breath caught in my lungs. He was so close I could feel the heat radiating from his skin to mine. Everything I felt growing inside me intensified. I could barely breathe with the ache of unmet want pounding in tandem with my heartbeat.

He reached forward and barely grazed my arm, but it was enough to cause a moan to slip from my lips. Horrified that Id made such a noise in his presence, I slapped my hand over my mouth and recoiled from his touch.

Dont do that, I finally snapped. Its not right.

“In what way?” he asked.

“I guess I’m technically betrothed to your brother, and you and I are alone without an escort. You shouldn’t touch me. What if someone saw? What would they think?”

That may be true. But its also as necessary as taking a breath. Isn’t it? I could no more stay away from you than you me.

My head jerked to meet his gaze, shocked to see that golden glow of his eyes looking back at me again. What is that supposed to mean? And why was my body angling in his direction?

Its difficult to explain to a

A what? If he was about to insult me, I was going to both die and lay into him for it. There had been more than enough insults for one day. Also, I was on edge and possibly unable to control my emotions. Although, that was putting it mildly.

Someone not like us, he finally whispered, which I heard perfectly fine.

I took a small, shallow breath, hoping for some relief or, at the very least, a shred of control. You mean a shifter?

He nodded. Unless witches have a similar phenomenon.

Since I had no idea what he was referring to, I doubted there was anything similar between a witch and a dragon. I shuddered at the memory of Prince Isaac and his gigantic black dragon on the front lawn. The smoke that had risen from his black scales and the steam that had erupted from his nose was going to give me nightmares for quite some time. I was in no hurry to see that from him again.

“I couldn’t say, considering I have no idea what you are talking about. Stop talking in circles and say whatever it is you think needs said.”

“Don’t you? Know, I mean?” he asked, leaning a little bit closer so that when he spoke, I felt his breath against the shell of my ear. A shiver worked down my spine, and the heat already building in my core grew infinitely more intense. It took my breath away.

“I demand you tell me what’s going on,” I wheezed. “Is this some sort of trick you are playing on me? If this is a shifter thing”

“While it is a shifter thing, I assure you it is no trick. At least not one played by me. Fate, on the other hand, does enjoy games, and they are rarely fair.”

“I feel like you are purposely talking in riddles in order to confuse me. You must tell me more information. Have you done something to me? Is this a poison of some kind?”

He smiled down at me, and I swear he got even more rakishly handsome like that. One part gentleman and two parts devil. What else could explain this inexplicable draw to a man I didn’t know?

“The answer is both simple and complex. Simple because destiny is in charge and almost impossible to resist, and complex because you are betrothed to my brother and there is a war at stake.”

The more he spoke, the closer he drew, until our chests were almost touching and his lips were closer than anyone would call decent.

“What does that have to do with what has made me feel so ill?” What else could possibly explain my irrational thoughts? “And everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten that your brother rejected me. I don’t understand why I am still here.”

“You’re here because my parents wish it so. As do I. And Isaac is a fool. How he could not see what a unique and lovely woman you are is beyond me. I, however, am not a fool.”

What felt like a thousand little butterflies took flight in my stomach at his words, their wings madly brushing against my insides. As inappropriate as it might be, it filled me with warmth to hear such high praise from someone not related to me.

I leaned a little more forward, lowering my voice. “Why are your parents so interested in me marrying their son?” It was the only question I could think of.

He smirked. “The better question is how do we change their mind? You will most certainly not be marrying Isaac.”

Also available in a gorgeous paperback!

Paranormal Romance Authors Discuss Halloween movies

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

No, I'm not talking about Christmas, silly. It's Halloween time! When the things that go bump in the night bump a little bit harder. When ghosts, ghouls, vampires, and werewolves come out to play. When the scent of pumpkin spice fills the air and the great debate over whether candy corn can actually be considered candy (or edible) persists.

And, of course, the best part about Halloween time is... THE MOVIES! From sweet to funny to gory to spine-chilling, there's a Halloween movie for every taste imaginable.

So, grab your latte or a mug of spiced cider and join us as my fellow paranormal romance authors and I discuss our all-time favorite Halloween movies!

Question: What's your all-time favorite Halloween movie and why?

Hocus Pocus has to my favorite go-to Halloween movie. I am a big Disney fan and everything about this movie was done perfectly. Bette Midler makes an incredible bad Witch and her sisters are just hysterical especially when they sing “I put a spell on you”. I watch this every year with my kids and it never gets old. ~ C.D Gorri , author of The Macconwood Pack Novels & Tales

My favorite Halloween movie is Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School . I watch it every year with my husband. Sometimes the kids join us, but my husband and I are just big kids and Halloween is our favorite holiday. I love this movie because at first they're scared, but then they go out of their ways to help the girls. ~ Catherine Banks , author of The Artemis Lupine Series

My all-time favorite Halloween movie is It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I grew up watching this movie, and it always brings a sense of nostalgia when it's on. I still watch it every year, even though my kids aren't little anymore, and I'll keep watching it when they're grown and moved out!" ~Carrie Pulkinen, author of The New Orleans Nocturnes Series

The Addams Family (1991) is my favorite Halloween movie. I'm not a horror fan, and I was a huge Christina Ricci fan growing up. I thought the casting for this movie was fantastic, and I love the dark humor in it. ~ Nicole Zoltack , author of When Vamps Bite (Bedlam in Bethlehem Book 1)

I have two! My favorite Halloween movies are Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice ! These two movies are dark yet funny, interesting visually, and have excellent music soundtracks. But the thing I love the most about them is the sense of innocence evident in both. The cartoonish, over-the-top characters and the childish feel of both stories capture the feeling of Halloween perfectly for me. ~ Corinne O'Flynn , author of Academy of Supernatural Felons (series)

My favourite Halloween movie is Practical Magic. While trick or treating might be on hold this year because of the pandemic, the spirit of Halloween (wink, wink! ) can definitely be found in this movie. I have little stomach for horror, but as the author of paranormal romance my two favourite themes – romance and magic – can be found in spades in this film. I’m looking forward to yet another viewing this October! ~Beth Linton, author of The Guardians' Trust: Ana

My fave Halloween movie has to be Hocus Pocus because it reminds me of dressing up with my kids for Halloween. My kids are grown up now but we still watch the movie every year! ~Abbey MacMunn, author of Love Bites: A Dating Agency for Paranormals series

Corpse Bride is my favorite Halloween movie. I love the animation style, and the undeniably sweet aspect of a story that is really kind of dark. The main character is Victor, who has been put into an arranged marriage with Victoria. He is nervous about the wedding and while rehearsing his vows alone in the woods, he places the ring on a tree branch which turns into the hand of Emily, from the land of the dead. It's a fun story, and it's made by Tim Burton, which guarantees amazing visuals and music. ~Fiona Starr, author of Society of Ancient Magic (series)

The Paul Lynde Halloween Special is my favorite Halloween movie (if it can be called that). If you haven't yet seen this masterpiece of 70s camp, you can find it on Youtube in all its disco themed glory. It has children's television characters like Witchiepoo and Margret Hamilton as The Wicket Witch, Kiss (yes, that band), a comedy sketch with truckers and Tim Conway, Betty White, Hollywood stars, sitcom actors you only know from that one show, disco, some serious singing and dancing numbers, and rhinestones galore. Donny and Marie even made an appearance! At any given moment, you'll ask yourself why you are watching it, but you won't be able to turn away from it. It's brilliant and horrible and great, all at the same time. ~Jules Crisare, author of Broken Peak Pack

Just about any vampire movie. Interview With a Vampire is a favorite. I love the bond and love shared between them. That's what I like to write mostly. Another one that comes to mind is American Werewolf in London. I liked the graphics and the way they showed him changing. When I write my shifters, I always think back to that. ~Susan Griscom, author of the Immortal Hearts of San Francisco Series

My favorite Halloween movie is, hands down, The Addams Family . Oh my goodness, everything about this movie is perfect. The relationship between Morticia and Gomez. The character personalities. Especially Wednesday and Morticia. Gomez, a strong and emotionally available man who openly adores his family. The funny; good Lord, this movie cracks me up every time I see it and I've seen it approximately a million times. This movie embodies the type of book I strive to write. And now, I think I need to go watch it... again. ~ Tami Lund , author of Mirror, Mirror , which, yes, is a funny Halloween romance!

Warm Bodies - Actual scary movies scare the poop out of me, except for some reason, not zombies. They are the one movie monster I've convinced myself isn't real. Plus, you know, this one is a romance! ~Aidy Award, author of the Black Dragon Brotherhood Series

My favorite Halloween movie is almost a tie between Practical Magic and Trick or Treat . But If I had to pick just one I guess I would choose Practical Magic. I’ve been watching it every year for a long time and I can pretty much quote just about every scene in it now. Witches are in my top 3 paranormal characters and when you add in the romantic element, I’m in. All in! Plus Midnight Margaritas!! Duh. ~ Eliza Gayle , author of Southern Shifters World

What do you think?

Is your all-time favorite Halloween movie listed here? Or do you have something else to add to the list? Why do you love it? Let me know in the comments!
