Only Three Days…
Three more days until I can share my news!
FYI, I am excited about this. Wrote it on a whim and it ended up being something I had mad fun with. Just a few more days until I can share with you…
And… while I have you here, romance reader and reviewer Michaela Basham is reaching out to the romance community for help. She’s in need a service dog, but the cost is high. Really high, like $10,000. She’s twenty percent of the way there, but she still needs another $8k if she wants to be able to get a dog.
Can you maybe swing by her page and read her story? Even if you can only spare $5 or $10, it could make all the difference.

I missed my calling
Sometimes I think I should have gone into photography.
See this? The next time you see it, it will be magically morphed into a cover for the Kit Colbana books.
Who is that gorgeous young lady, you ask?
Why…that’s Diva. My oldest. Yes, it’s kinda small and you can’t enlarge, but I don’t want anybody grabbing it. I’m taking a whole bunch of pictures of her and my cover lady is going to make her into Kit. Blonde hair, bad-ass backgrounds…
Cute young lady with kicking sword = awesome urban fantasy book covers.
I’m planning to repackage the whole series. I love the model I’ve used for the Kit books, but she’s popping up on a lot of books now. Once I’m done repackaging these, nobody will have these covers. And I gotta say… my daughter makes one hell of a Kit. At least when it comes to cockiness.

Meet Neve & Ian…Headed for Trouble
For those who like my small town romances…
SHE’S A SMALL-TOWN GIRL WITH BIG DREAMS.
Nine years ago, Neve McKay fled her small Southern town and disapproving family to seek a career in the big city. Now she’s finally coming home-and hoping for a fresh start. But the relationship that shattered her world still haunts her. And even among her nearest and dearest, she doesn’t feel safe. . .
CAN THIS BAD BOY BE THE ANSWER TO HER PRAYERS?
Ian Campbell is a pure Scottish muscle-as hard and handsome as they come. But when Neve walks into his bar, his heart melts. . .and he vows to have this gorgeous and somewhat vulnerable woman in his life-for better or for worse. What is Neve’s tragic secret? And how can Neve expect Ian to protect her, when doing so could put his own life at risk? The only thing Ian knows for sure is that he will do whatever it takes to keep her out of harm’s way-and in his loving arms. . .
* * * * *
I’ve seen the cover and it’s oh so awesome.
Also, no. This isn’t the surprise. This is the first in my next trilogy with St. Martins, centered around the McKay family, Neve, Moira and Brannon, patriarchs of the town McKay’s Treasure, a small Mississippi town.
I had mad fun with these two.
Here ya go…
Excerpt
She stood in the doorway, oddly apart from everybody else even as she studied them, eyes moving to linger on a group here, then there. After a couple of moments, she moved away and he found himself tracking her progress.
Don’t be here to meet somebody, he thought and immediately, he wanted to kick himself. What did it matter if she was?
He told himself it didn’t and glanced up at Gary Harnett settled down and ordered his usual. Ian started to build the Guinness as they chatted, but the entire time, he watched her from the corner of his eye.
She moved like a dancer, effortless grace and easy elegance. He could imagine those legs, long and slim, wrapped around his waist, could picture that torso—just as long and slim—bent back as he leaned over to press his mouth to pale, soft skin.
Gary said, “They say it’s going to break a hundred again tomorrow.”
“Imagine it will,” Ian murmured, the easy chatter second nature and in his mind, he continued to mentally undress the redhead.
She slid onto a vacant stool tucked up against the wall just as he finished Gary’s Guinness and Ian was took a moment to appreciate the fact that he had a heavy, solid bar between the two of them, because thanks to his wandering mind, his bloody cock was hard as iron and pulsing.
She looked at him then, her mouth unsmiling, but wide and soft and lush.
Fuck me.
He rested his hands on the bar and smiled. You’ve a job to do, so do it.
He opened his mouth.
You’re the sexiest fucking thing I’ve seen in ages—maybe forever. He could feel those words hovering on the tip of his tongue.
Biting them back, he fell back on the job he’d been doing for ages.
“Well. ‘Allo. What can I get you?”
A faint smile flirted around her lips and a hot ball of lust twisted inside, settling down low in his balls. Mad. He’d gone mad—that’s all there was to it.
She nodded toward the Guinness he’d just finished and said, “I’ll have one of those.”
He nodded. Self-preservation told him to move his arse and get to work.
He told self-preservation to get fucked as he got to work on her Guinness. As he did, four more orders came in and he filled three of them before her Guinness was ready. By the time he had another minute to breathe, she had folded her hands around her glass and was studying everything around her, almost mesmerized.
“Visiting?”
She blinked, a startled look in her eyes. Her gaze slid away. “Depends on your point of view.” Then she flashed him a wide smile.
It was disarming, that smile, bright and wicked, the kind of smile a temptress would give a saint to lure him into all manners of sin.
Ian was many things—a saint had never been one of them. As she propped her elbows on the bar, he found himself easing closer. “I’m here for…personal things, but that’s for later,” she said, lifting her shoulder in a shrug. “Tonight…? Tonight I’m just trying to not think.”
I can help you with that.
The words popped into his brain and they almost escaped his lips.
He managed to keep them trapped inside, but one thing he couldn’t do was keep his eyes off that mouth.
She noticed, too. He could tell by the hitch in her breathing, the way her pulse slammed against the fragile wall of her throat. Curious, he reached out and pressed a finger against it.
He could very well be doing the stupidest thing he’d ever done.
Her lids drooped and her head slumped, angling slightly to the side. He skimmed his finger down lower, tracing the elegant line of her collarbone. “I’ve had days like that,” he said softly. “Days where the last place I want to be is inside my own head.”
He lowered his hand.
She lifted her head and met his gaze dead-on.
He started to turn away.
“How late do you work?”

Drastic Measures…now in ebook!
Drastic Measures is available again! For those who like a bartered/blackmail romance sort of thing that isn’t too dark, here you go.
This book was previously published, no new material added, yadda yadda yadda. If you haven’t read it before, it’s now only $0.99, so here’s a great chance to add it to your library.

Sometimes…a man has to take matters into his own hands.
Four years ago, Pamela James caught Ethan’s eye and he knew he had to have her. There were just a few obstacles. She was involved…very involved. And she seemed scared of him.
Now she’s engaged to his business partner and Ethan knows the man can’t make her happy, not to mention that the guy is playing fast and loose with her club. Now, with her wedding getting ever closer, Ethan is going to put it all on the line.
He’s the right man for her. All he has to do is make her see that.
∞
She’d said yes.
Staring out the window of his condo, Ethan tuned out everything but what Shawn had just said.
Pamela James was finally going to be his.
“Ethan.”
He glanced back over his shoulder at Shawn. The man looked terrible and Ethan wasn’t that surprised. He’d known that Shawn wouldn’t have the balls to stand up to him and while part of him felt as though he should be appalled at what he was doing, he wasn’t.
She deserved better than Shawn. Outside of business, Shawn was spineless. He didn’t have the guts or the wisdom to know he needed to shake loose of his brother and he didn’t have the balls to stand up to Ethan about the ultimatum he’d issued. Because of Shawn’s cowardice, Ethan was going to get what he’d been dying to have for the past four years.
Pam.
Soft, sexy Pam with the smile of Mona Lisa and the body of Venus. Her soft, sweet curves and her dark green eyes. Her soft, southern drawl had haunted him ever since he’d met her. Shawn had brought her to a business function shortly after he and Ethan had gone into business together but the first time Ethan had seen her, he hadn’t realized she was with Shawn. All he’d seen was a soft, sexy woman with a sweet smile and he’d wanted her instantly.
She had stood out in the crowd, her pale skin glowing like a pearl against the black velvet of her dress. She’d looked like heaven to him—all soft, warm and round, her big breasts rising in smooth curves above the rounded neckline of her dress and her plump ass and round hips looked as though they had been designed for nothing other to fill a man’s hands. And she would fill them. He knew she hated those generous curves. For the past four years, he’d done his damnedest to learn everything about her, from the size of clothes she wore, to the gym where she worked out, to the place where she’d bought her wedding dress.
Her wedding dress…
Shawn had asked Ethan to stand up with him at the wedding but Ethan had refused. Not that he intended to let the wedding happen but even thinking about her walking down the aisle to marry Shawn made him sick.
He was taking a risk here, he knew. There was a possibility she’d hate him after this but at least she would have a better idea about what kind of man she was planning to marry.
“Damn it, are you going to listen to me or just ignore me?”
Ethan gave Shawn a bland look, jerking himself out of his reverie. “Do you have anything important to say or are you going to stand there and bitch about the mess you’ve gotten yourself into?”
“If it was just my mess, I wouldn’t be bitching so much,” Shawn growled.
Ethan cocked a brow. “It is your mess, my friend. You’re the one who pulled Pam into this when you put up the club as collateral. Next time you get into this situation maybe you should discuss it with your business partner first.” He leaned back in his chair and gave Shawn a shark’s smile. “Of course, if you ever pulled something like this with me, I’d slice your balls off.” Then he shrugged. “Don’t worry so much. I’ll take good care of your fiancée.”
Shawn looked down at something he held in his hand, something so small that Ethan couldn’t even see it. “Yeah,” Shawn muttered. “I bet you will.”
This book has been previously published. It’s now available at a new, lower price. No new material has been added.

Ruined…Barnes Brothers news!
So I’ve had a few people ask when the next Barnes Brother book will be out. I don’t have a date, but I do have news.
Some of it is good. There will be another title.
Some of it is…well…eh. Decide for yourself.
The next title will be Ruined, Sebestien’s story. No release date yet. For those who enjoy reading the series in ebook, hey…cool! You’re all good.
Sadly…for those who enjoy it in print, well…um.
Crickets chirping.
It won’t be available in print. Probably not at all. My print sales from Berkley are dropping pretty steadily. They aren’t willing to put it in print. It’s going to release from their digital imprint. It will be at a lower price, so that’s good, right?
Hopefully, it will do well enough that I’ll be able to wrap up the series and write Travis’ book. If not, well. I dunno.
Here’s a short snippet of the story…
~*~
The low, monotonous beeping was annoying the fuck out of him.
It was almost as bad as the pain jabbing into his side.
It was even worse than whatever the hell that weird smell was.
It was almost like a…
His eyes flew open.
Brilliant white met him and he squinted.
“Hey, sunshine. Welcome back.”
The sound of his oldest brother’s voice had him groaning. Bright lights, Zane, headache. Had he gotten drunk? Was he hungover?
“Honey?”
“Mom?” he whispered. Or tried. His throat was so dry, he didn’t get a thing out. Clearing his throat, he tried again, but the pathetic whisper was so soft, he barely heard it.
“Yes, honey. I’m here.” A hand slid into his. “We’re all here.”
“Who’s we?” he said. “Where’s here?”
He tried to look around and realize he could only see with his right eye. Something covered the entire left side of his face. “What the…” he reached up, the movement uncoordinated and stiff. He’d barely touched the covering when Zane caught his hand. “Hold up, kid, okay? You’ve gotta leave the bandage alone.”
He stilled. “Bandage?”
Zane’s face went taut.
Fear fluttered inside him. He looked around, understanding dawning. He was in the hospital.
“What’s going on?” he asked, forced to crane his head awkward so he could see everybody in the room. All of his brothers, his sister-in-law Abby along with the two soon to be sisters-in-law Keelie and Ressa, his parents…and Marin. Instinctively, he looked away from Marin. Since she seemed to be doing the same, he didn’t see the problem there.
Nobody answered.
“What’s going on?” he shouted.
“Baby, it’s going to be okay,” his mother said, her voice gentle.
He slammed his fist down. She stilled.
Immediately, he regretted, and not just because it sent pain arcing through his side.
“Sebestien.”
At Zach’s voice, he looked away from his mother’s averted face.
“What?”
“You were out having dinner—you’d been with Monica,” his brother said in a low voice. Low—intense. “Do you remember?”
“Monica…” Closing his eyes, he struggled to do just that. Remember. “She was going to kiss me.”
Clouds half hid the memory but as he focused, they started to lift. “I…I didn’t really much care if she did. Crazy…as much as I missed her. I thought I’d do almost anything to get her back.”
“Do you remember what happened next?” Zach asked tautly.
Sebastien swept his gaze to his brother.
Pain sliced through him—his face, his side—as memory sharpened. Clarified.
“Hanson,” he rasped.
Clutching one hand in the sheets, he said, “Monica. Is she…Did he…”
“She’s fine.” Abby moved forward and covered his fisted hand. “He didn’t hurt her, honey. She’s fine.”
He sucked in a breath. “Good. Good. So…everything’s okay, then, right? I mean, I’ll heal up and…”
The awkward silence had his stomach tilting sideways, like he’d developed his very own Tilt A Whirl right inside his gut.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Hanson…” Zach looked away, his shoulders tight. “Hanson’s dead. And…”
Sebastien went cold.
Slowly, he flung his legs over the side of the bed.
When his father moved to his side, he waved him away.
Something jabbed in his arm and he scowled, staring at the IV tubing. With deliberate thoroughness, he peeled back the tape and pulled out the needle, ignoring his parents and his brothers.
Blood dripped out as he rose and moved over to the mirror hanging over the sink.
A heavy bandage covered the left side of face, from the just under his hairline, down to the jawbone, a bizarre Phantom of the Opera—just no eyehole. He reached up and started to peel the tape away.
“Damn it, Sebastien, you’re bleeding all over the place and you’re going to rip the stitches out,” Zach snarled at him, moving up to grab his hands.
It was Zane who stopped him.
Zane who came up and helped with the tape.
Zane who took the discarded bandages and who used them to make a temporary one for the bloody place on his arm where the IV had been.
And Zane was the one standing there when Sebastien force himself to look at his face.
The scar ran from his forehead, just above the eyebrow, in jagged line, all the way down until it stopped about an inch away from the corner of his mouth. His eye was taped shut and when he tried to open it, instinctively, it hurt like a motherfucker.
Numbness settled inside him.
He would scar.
He didn’t even have to ask.
He would scar, period.
Turning away from the mirror, he looked at his family, from one brother to another and then at his parents.
“We need to get your arm looked at, Seb,” Zane said softly.
Sebastien looked down at it almost absently. What the fuck did his arm matter? He pulled away the wadded up bandage and immediately, blood started to well up, forming a fat bead before it started to roll down his forearm once more.
A soft sound caught his attention and he looked up, met Marin’s gaze.
She sucked in a soft breath and he looked away.
He was fucking ruined.

Lori Foster/RAGT 2015… FYI! I’m not coming!
So… I’ve had some people talking about the RAGT…yep, it’s getting close!
For the past ten years, I’ve been a regular at the reader event hosted by Lori Foster in Cincinnati in June.
Unfortunately, I’m not going to be attending this year and at this point, it’s unlikely I’ll attend future Reader/Author Get Togethers. I had tons of fun at the events I did attend. Please know, I’ll treasure the memories of each event!
For those who live in the southern states, I will be attending the Heart of Dixie luncheon on 6/13 where I will be trying not to freak out over Linda Howard and I have promised not to pelt Sylvia Day with various swag bits that area lying on my table. No, I have never done that, no matter what people at NJRW might have said. O.O.
Also…tix for the Heart of Dixie luncheon are still on sale. I’ll be signing some of my latest! Other reader events this year include the mass literacy signing at RWA in New York City in July (details to come) and I’ll be at Dragon*Con in Atlanta in September.
Want to know about reader events? Sign up to get the newsletter!
