Kindlegraphs…?

I added a few books.  Not all-that will take a while. O.o

I'm not entirely sure how it works, although I've signed a few. Just not sure, so I'm kinda clueless. I don't think you have to have a kindle, though.

Whatcha Reading?

The summer has been so crazy, between vacation and trying to catch up with deadlines and stuff, I haven't been able to pay attention the books that are coming out.

I've done some reading, although most of it is stuff that's been on my TBR or faves shelves.

I've read…

Yeah, yeah, the Ilona Andrews books are re-reads, but I'm trying to tide myself over until another one comes out, what can I say? Dead in the Delta was okay. Chasing Fire was pretty good. Not my fave Nora, but I've got so many faves by here, it's getting hard to knock those faves down. But it was good.

So what are you reading?

Friday 56

Yep, another Friday…yay! So, that means it's time for another round of Friday 56.  Grab the closest (doesn't have to be what you're reading, just what you happen to have nearby).  Turn to page 56, and give us the 5th sentence…or more if you'd like.  Mine this week:

"And the slight imperfection of his nose–which looked like it had once been broken–gave him just enough character to save him from being pretty."

And I'm done…

Edits on book 3 are done.  I need to mail them off.  Will do that tomorrow.

I celebrated by making a series page.

I mentioned on twitter and google+ that I finished the book and decided, It doesn't completely suck.  That might not sound like a ringing endorsement, but I tend to think most of my books do suck.  I'm spastic that way.  This one seems pretty decent-the whole trilogy does.  It's probably one of the best things I've written.

And I'm very, very glad the mad editing frenzy is almost done.

Ahhhhh!!!!!

That's the sound of me screaming.  My brain imploding.  All of it.

On Friday, I had not one but two sets of edits hit my desk.  First round of edits on THE DEPARTED and edits on IF YOU KNOW HER.

I've got a book due 9/1.  Another one due 11/1.  Trying to put together a new project that will go I dunno where if I can sell it.

Brain is on meltdown.

Things may be scarce here until the brain recovers from the ahhhhhh moments.

Excerpt from THE DEPARTED

due out in January…

For so many years, cold had been a part of Dez's life. The departed felt cold. The long empty nights she spent following leads were often cold. She went home to a cold, empty bed and she awoke to a cold, empty house.

She was more used to cold than warmth.

So it was something of a shock when she drifted awake and found herself surrounded by warmth. She stiffened, the breath locking in her throat as she stared at the wall straight in front of her, unable to move, hardly able to think.

A hand rested on her hip and in that moment, as her mind tried to figure out just what in the hell was going on, it started to move, stroking upward. She shivered, feeling an odd, tickling sensation in the wake of his hand.

"It was a mistake insisting on the three months," Taylor said quietly, his voice muffled against her neck.

She lay still, not moving, hardly daring to breathe. Even when his hand rested on the curve of her nape, she didn't move. "I knew it then, even if I couldn't have made myself say it. I can say it now. It was a mistake . . . and I'm sorry."

Dez closed her eyes. Swallowing, she asked, "Why are you in my bed, Jones?"

For the longest time, he was quiet. Then, he finally, he pressed a kiss to her nape and replied, "Because I seemed to have a lot of trouble walking away from you last night. I needed to tell you that, needed to tell you I was sorry."

"Okay. You told me. You're still in my bed."

He let go and she felt something fall across her neck. Reflexively, she caught it, but she didn't look down because he'd caught her hip and started to tug, slowly. A gentle, unyielding pressure.

She could have resisted it, but that would have felt more than a little childish. She settled for keeping her eyes closed—that was only a little childish, right? Even as she lay there clutching whatever it was in her hand, she kept her eyes closed. Even as Taylor guided her to her back and pressed a hand to her belly and even as her heart skittered and danced in her chest.

She couldn't look at him. She didn't dare.

"I have the hardest damn time putting you out of my head." Taylor brushed his lips over her cheek.

She had to bite her tongue to keep from hissing out a surprised gasp. Don't listen to him. Whatever new game this was—

Then his lips covered hers. Thought stopped. As his tongue stroked along the seam of her lips, Dez opened for him with a startled moan. What in the . . .

I need you to email me!  email is shilohwalker(at)gmail.com~just a reminder, as stated in my disclaimer, all contest winners are posted to the blog-that's how they are notified and you have two weeks to claim the prize.  If it isn't claimed within the two weeks, I don't redraw names-I just hold the book for a contest later down the road.

Reading ebooks on #Apple toys, iPod, iPad, etc

So Apple has gone and screwed things for etailers, and if you aren't aware of how things are running, you might think you can't buy ebooks for your iPod or iPad unless you use iBooks.  Personally, I hate the iBooks app, anyway.  They also aren't letting the app stores tell you why the buy links suddenly disappeared.  I'm not an app store.  You're not an app store. So we can tell each other and spread the word, right?

Apple has forced the apps like Kobo, BN, Kindle, etc to change things and remove all buy links from the apps.  No more in app purchases.  This is an Apple thing and the etailers had no choice.

But don't worry.  You can still buy your books outside of the iBooks, which is cool if you hate the iBooks app like I do…and if you hate having a mega-giant try to control how you buy things (like I do).  And you also have tech-savvy people at Dear Author who will tell you how.  Info can be found here!

So how the heck do you get books onto the app itself?  This procedure is called sideloading and it's fairly easy… (read on for more)
