Horror Aficionados … Unite!

Our second group read for June's werewolf theme is MONGRELS by @SGJ72 which is a unique take on lycanthropes! I hope you can join us as we read and discuss the book. Be there or be square! https://t.co/aQDpgPsCdB pic.twitter.com/HtSKmmvLG1

Brightburn

I’d been seeing the trailers for Brightburn around, and figured I’d just . . . wait for Redbox, maybe. I mean, Supes getting weaponized by Lex Luthor was pretty much ever other issue for a while, and Justice Leagure Dark had already shown me what all there heroes being unheroic was like. But then I heard somebody online saying that this was a slasher.

I was at the next showing.

[ note: gonna be spoilers here ]

And, to back up: a book or three ago, Marketing of whatever pub…

Deepfakery

So, so cool. And, I just wrote a novel way steeped in exactly this:

Throwback Theater Experiences

FINALLY saw Breakfast Club on the big screen last night. Was a-a-a-amazing.

Didn’t see Pretty in Pink—actually, I only saw that one last year, on DVD—am not catching Ferris Buehler (never really got into that one, except for the principle getting the Buford T. Justice treatment throughout), and, would have caught Weird Science, but, well, didn’t.

Anyway, down in Texas in a rental car somewhere a year or two ago I caught Halloween at the drive-in, which was amazi…

Dead Hearts

Been waiting to see this for five years. I mean, it’s probably been watchable for four years and eleven months of those five years, but, anyway, I’m JUST NOW watching this. And it’s amazing:

StokerCon 2019

Man, why do I ever miss one of these? They’re always the best time of the year. And, as usual, I’m no picture-snapper, have to rely on what others post. And, this time, instead of snabbing pics from around and then trying (and failing) to cite those who actually deserve picture-credit, I’ll just link what I found on twitter (the only social media I’m on. well, that and Goodreads, but Goodreads isn’t for this kind of stuff, I don’t think [ok…

New Truck

Well, not NEW-new—never had that kind—but new-to-me. And, too, the newest I’ve ever had. Before this, 1988 was as close to the present as I’d ever come with a truck. I tend to land in the late sixties, early seventies. But I recently sold all those old ones, had to face the fact that I now live in town, not on my own land, where I can park stuff wherever, let it start its good and necessary rust cycle.

So, anyway, there I was for a few months, no truck for the first time in my WH…

Horror People

Man, I always hear talk about “horror people,” how we’re weird and dark and wrong. But, man, this us: just goofballs, pretty much.
