Healthy Restaurant Picks: Sandwich and Deli

Welcome to the second week of Healthy Restaurant Picks!

I chose this month’s blogging theme because life is busy. And while homemade is best, sometimes eating on-the-go is your only option. With that in mind, I’m offering healthy restaurant picks for different themes and categories. Last week’s theme was Fast Food.

This week focuses on Sandwich and Deli-style restaurants. For each restaurant, you’ll see a list of suggestions, as well as a Pinterest-friendly summary to save for later.

Healthy Restaurant Picks: Fast Food

I’m entering my personal crazy season, which means the calendar is filling up fast. A busy work schedule + my son’s baseball season + end-of-school-year activities = One Stressed Mama!

I have a feeling I’m not alone. Many families find themselves running around this time of year, grabbing food on the go as they race off to the next activity or event.

While I recommend making and eating food at home whenever possible, the reality is, sometimes it’s just not practical or feasible. For those day...

What Does a Wellness Coach Eat? (in pictures): Week 5

This was quite the unusual week. A few extra treats were hanging around my house, so I had to get creative with portion control. Even with the challenges, I still managed to get my minimum of 5 fruits/veggies a day, so I consider that a win!

As usual, a few recipes are included below, including a new one my kids have declared their FAVORITE!

The One Question You Should Ask Yourself TODAY

This post is for the person who’s plugging along in life, putting one foot in front of the other, day after day. It’s for the person who’s rocking their diet and fitness plan and also for the person who feels like a failure.

You’ve woken up to a new day. A new day of choices yet to be made, food yet to be eaten, steps yet to be taken. Before you start a single thing, there’s one question you have to ask yourself.

WHY?

Why do I care what I put in my body? Why does it matter that I exercise an...

What Does a Wellness Coach Eat? (in pictures): Week 4

Here’s the breakdown of my food for the week. One thing I don’t include in my pictures is the water I drink. I try to get at least 6 cups of water a day, preferably more (especially on workout days). Usually at least two of those cups are in the form of green tea. Hydration is a crucial part of my day, and my energy and hunger levels are definitely impacted when I skimp on it!

Hopefully the ideas and recipes below are helpful!

10 Ways to Avoid a Snack Attack

In my coaching experience, planning meals is the number one way to set yourself up for success.

But let’s be honest… Sometimes you just get a snack attack and want to throw your plans out the window. Instead of giving in to the munchies, try one of the ideas below. Even in moments of temptation, healthy choices CAN be made!

10 Ways to Avoid a Snack Attack:

1. Chew on ice.
2. Paint your nails.
3. Go outside for some fresh air. Better yet, take a walk!
4. Chew sugar-free gum.
5. Drink lemon w...

What Does a Wellness Coach Eat? (in pictures): Week 3

Here’s my food for the week! I relied on quick and simple lunches and had to plan ahead for one particular day that involved running from one place to the next. Stocking my van with healthy snacks helped me stay on track on a crazy day when things could have easily fallen apart. Planning for the win!

Busy Day Dumbbell Workout [videos and infographic]

I’ve got another workout for you today! This one uses dumbbells and combination exercises to target your main muscle groups, all while maximizing your time.

The first video shows the full moves. Some of these are advanced, so the second video shows how to do all the moves with modifications. Recommended number of reps are included in the videos as well. (Note that I do NOT do the recommended number of reps in the video. The video is just meant to show how to do the exercises.)
