American, Texan, Parisian.
Ray Else lived in Paris for 5 years and while there joined a writers group and dared to write with all his heart. A review published by the Sorbonne included his story "Surviving on Mexican Shade", and the BBC World Service broadcast that same story worldwide. Then he got busy making a living as a programmer for companies like IBM and Rocket Software.

Recently Ray returned to writing with some success. His short story, "First Kiss", was published by Galley Beggar Press in the UK. Ray's mystery novel "All that we touch" has garnered excellent reviews. His latest sci-fi novels, "Our Only Chance: An A.I. In looking at Paris and possibly Istanbul as settings, I discovered that the Crown of Thorns is on display in the Notre Dame Cathedral - came to France by way of Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1238, after Venetian pawnbrokers were paid off handsomely for it. The more I looked into this, the more I saw a good mystery in the making.(less)

As a test, I ran my A.I. books Our Only Chance and Fountain of Souls for 2 days, and to my surprise 900 copies were downloaded! No advertising money spent, yet 900 copies down... Impressive undertaking, expansive, imaginative. Characters to cheer for and characters to hate. A lot of setup but then a good exciting ending. For a mature audience. Look forward to the next book in the series.

A character driven story of Martian colonists. A bit wordy in places, and I thought the villain could have been foreshadowed better, but a good tense read nonetheless.

“The ground shakes and she remembers the stories of dusty boys who lost their legs trying to jump the train to the other side. Legs made of dirt. Returned to dirt. But what a wonderful sound that had. “The other side.” Worth losing one’s legs for, losing one’s entire body to reach there. The other side.”
