Ray Else Of the Arete series? Certainly is possible. My great grandfather was a well off farmer who came from the UK to Iowa, and his 20th child was my grandfather who also farmed all his life. Thanks for asking - I'll have to contact her.
Ray Else Five vultures fly over my head - but, but, I'm not yet dead. Five vultures fly over my head.
Ray Else To the land of Johnny Quest, Duck Tales, Tintin and Corto Maltese. And to just about any manga landscape. I'd follow along with the gang, risking all to help a native tribe, to search for a mystical crystal, to find my true identity or my true love. Then return home, good old sweet home, only to grow bored on my porch scritching the dog and set off again.
I do that with my books, you know. I pick a country, go off for a little adventure, then make up a novel-length story about the place.
Ray Else Hi Becky. I'm glad you received a copy. I hope you find "All that we touch" to be an entertaining, sometimes funny, "touching" read. I look forward to your review of the book.
best regards, Ray
Ray Else I already had my characters, from my previous 2 books in the series, so I was looking for a good mystery to set them into. In looking at Paris and possibly Istanbul as settings, I discovered that the Crown of Thorns is on display in the Notre Dame Cathedral - came to France by way of Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1238, after Venetian pawnbrokers were paid off handsomely for it. The more I looked into this, the more I saw a good mystery in the making.
