Calling Team Julian! Hard Evidence excerpt/discussion

Sorry we missed Man-Titty Monday this week. Perhaps these images of Julian Darcangelo, aka Dark Angel, will make up for that.
Remember that Eduardo Verástegui was chosen by all of you during the I-Team Casting Couch competition to play the role of Julian should they be made into films. As an aside, a reader on Goodreads cast Hard Evidence herself and picked the exact Tessa and the exact Julian that we had chosen. Talk about amazing coincidence... Of course, I'd forg...

July 4 — A Day in History

The Fourth of July is a special day in the history of the United States — and not just because it's the day when the newborn United States declared its independence from Great Britain. The events that set American independence in motion occurred about 22 years earlier.
Interestingly, those events revolved around the same man — George Washington.
On July 4, 1754, young George Washington retreated from the Great Meadows where he'd been defeated by French forces. But let's back up...

Want a screw?

I already posted this on Facebook. It's an image of the titanium plates/screws that are going to go into my neck. There will be several, I believe. And I think it completely ROCKS that they are purple! If you're going to have screws in your body, they need to be really cool screws.
As I said on Facebook, my surgery will be at noon on Aug. 13 at Exempla/St. Joseph's in Denver. If all goes well, I'll be home in a couple of days and spend the next eight weeks recuperating there.
I don't like hospi...

When it comes to sex, what's normal?

When it comes to sex, what's normal? And what is popular culture, including romantic fiction, communicating to young women about what's expected of them sexually?
Sometimes a topic strikes me and ends up in the newspaper in my opinion column. This one will probably wind up there eventually. For now, the topic is rolling around in that cavernous space known as my "cranium," knocking aside cobwebs and scaring bats as it goes. While I realize this may be a controversial topic, I'm okay with contr...

MTM — Better than fig leaves

Welcome to another edition of Man-Titty Monday! This week, we explore male models who showcase themselves in strange attire.
Take the above photo, for example. One of my all-time favorites, it features a man with an absolutely purrfect body dressed in, well, shredded underclothes. He looks like he was washed ashore on a desert island and had to make do with whatever clothing was left after that battle with the sharks. But that's okay. I'm not complaining — and neither are you.
I love his highwa...

M.A.N. Project

Today was a momentous day! My father, one of my two brothers and my younger son Benjamin spent the day working on various projects outside that required lots of muscle. They started by cleaning the gutters on my house, then progressed to trimming dead branches off my three big trees.
They stand above, like victorious hunters, with one very large branch. The biggest almost crossed the width of my yard and came from my cotto...

Virgin heroes — sexy or snore?

In romance novels, the dominant paradigm is that of the sexually experienced male connecting with a less sexually experience female and rocking her world (not to mention her pelvis). This is true across genres, with historical romance almost always pairing virgin heroines with men who've been around, while contemporaries bow to reality and have heroines who've had at least some sexual experience.
While you might occasionally see a courtesan heroine in a historical, you don't often see virgin h...

MTM — Damn, it's good to be a woman

I cannot get enough of Jed Hill. I've been using his image when I need inspiration for describing Zach in Breaking Point. So, occasionally, I browse through the photos of him I have been sent and collected — for research purposes only, of course. And every time I do, I find myself feeling incredibly grateful that I'm a woman.

Manatee Monday?!?

Sorry again to be gone for so long. Life is not slowing down one iota. But I did want to share a quick laugh.
Today was dedicated to helping my younger son, Benjamin, find a car to buy. It did not go well. Used car salesmen can be scumbags. Fortunately, Benjamin did a lot of research into how to buy a car and did not get taken. But the process of standing up for himself brought out one guy's inner jerk (not so d...

Man-Titty Monday: A Side of Beef

I had a friend whose family owned a cattle farm in Kansas. When they said "a side of beef," what they meant was "half a butchered steer."
Let's get one thing straight: That's not what I mean.
When I say "side of beef," what I mean is "the side of a distinctly hot human male."
So that's what we're serving up today: a side of beef to go with your Monday. This is not the kind of beef you put on the BBQ grill. It's the kind of beef that most often operates said BBQ grill.
Above, you see a very sexy m...
