Urban homesteading

So how many of you are urban homesteaders?

I'm not sure how strong the movement is elsewhere, but here in Colorado, the idea of growing as much of your own organic food as possible and even raising your own chickens in your backyard is very popular — and not just with hippies.

Last summer, I decided to see how much food Benjamin and I could get out of re-opening one of our veggie garden beds. We have a very big yard, and the south side of the house, which gets full sun all day, was once entirel...

MTM — Beefcake. It's what's for breakfast

Tasty.

Last Monday we had a holiday, so no Man-Titty Monday.

But this week, it's back to the grind — or, rather, the bump and grind. Because that's how we do it on my blog.

I thought for this week we'd go for mouth-watering sexy. So grab your bib, because we're going to break our fasts on manflesh.

The photo at the top makes me hungry, displaying in all its beauty the ripped male torso. Egads! I need an app that makes you feel like you're touching what you see on your screen. (Wow, the porn i...

Product placement in books

OK, I'll admit it. I lurk on Amazon. When I have time, I scroll through posts on the message boards to see what readers are talking about. Usually, it's not me. D'oh!

But there are lots of really interesting topics that pop up on the Amazon discussion boards, and one of them was product placement in romance novels.

Product placement is the deliberate mention of a type of product in the story in exchange for money. It's a sneaky form of advertising. The question on Amazon was whether authors get...

Breaking Point play list — and excerpt!

Natalie and Zach are being kept in an old Mexican
ghost town in the desert much like this one.

Sorry to be MIA again. Work gets busy, and with Benjy home this week, my evenings have been filled with other things.

I won't lie — I love having him home. He's been hard at work weeding the flower beds and catching up on gardening and yard work that I can't really do. We've visited my parents in their new home so that he could have a chance to see them. My brother and his family came over, too, so th...

Man-Titty Monday: Men in jeans

There's just something about a sexy man in a pair of jeans. Combine sexy chest with butter-soft denim, and you can make a woman's heart melt. Unzip those jeans just a bit, tug them down over narrow hips...

Is it hot in here, or is that me?

What is it about blue jeans? I find them much sexier than a pair of tailored slacks or gym shorts or pretty much anything a man can put over his nether regions, apart from, say, boxer briefs, or, preferably, wet box briefs...

Tanned skin, rippled abs, pecs tha...

Interview with a true powder hound -- Updated

A while back, I promised you an interview with a true powder hound, someone who skis the way Gabe skis — in defiance of gravity and as often as possible. I work with a guy like this. He writes for the outdoors section of the newspaper.

Extreme skiers, climbers, etc., are not an endangered species in Boulder; in fact, meeting people who excel in sports like skiing or telemark or skateboarding or rock climbing is just part of life here. People like Isaac come to Colorado, and to Boulder specific...

Things to look forward to this summer!

Spring, it seems, is finally here. After weeks of cool temps and late-season snowstorms, we seem to have turned a corner. Last week, it was 32. By the end of this week, it will be 85. That's what happens in Colorado. You go from having the heat on to running the AC in the blink of an eye.

I started thinking about the things I love about summer. BBQs with my boys and their friends is at the top of the list. Good fruits and veggies from the farmers' markets is another. Vacation. Woo! I'm taking ...

Get a Grip! It's Man-Titty Monday

1. Pierced and hot.
It was a busy weekend! But fortunately I took time out of my son's graduation BBQ to prepare for Man-Titty Monday. This week's theme: Get a grip!

There's a genre of hot guy photos that depict entirely nude luscious men who have a grip on their... business. These photographs are enjoyable because they display so much, but they also provide an element of frustration because they don't show it all.

2. Nice tats and everything else, too!
I suspect part of what makes these photos...

Graduation weekend reading

A few months back, I was introduced to author Christy Reece through some of our mutual readers. She and I interviewed each other for our respective releases in late February and early March and found it funny that our books both featured heroes named Gabe.

I hadn't had time read any of her books, but this is graduation weekend. And I found myself desperately in need of a fiction break. (Let's just say sometimes my mouth gets ahead of my brain when it comes to the ex. And with family gathered f...
