Where did you find the statistic in "Fresh Kills" that Staten Island has the largest cancer rate per capita in the world?
It’s something I remember hearing in high school. I did know a lot of people on the island who lost family to cancer, many of them young. When I wrote FRESH KILLS I thought of it, and thought it was something Junior would remember and believe. I never looked it up to see if it was actually true.
