Author Kim Fu has always loved Batman — at least, one version of Batman.
My Batman inflicts a lot of psychological torture, but he remains fundamentally the good guy — moral, principled and triumphant. He outwits and disarms his opponents one by one, prefers fear and technology over fists. He’s a Zen samurai in the shadows. Whenever I came across a Batman who was misogynistic, needlessly brutish or prone to cracking terrible jokes, I simply filed it under Not My Batman.
But then she read Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. And suddenly the sharp lines between her Batman and other Batmen, well… they started to get fuzzy. Was her beloved hero a caped crusader or a cruel sadist?

Save Yourself, Kelly Braffet: I’m not certain why this novel didn’t merit more attention…
You’ll find a certain NOPD rookie on this list.

Book Keeping with Bill Loehfelm | Book Keeping
I know its sacrilege to say this as a southern author, but Ive never been able to get through one of William Faulkners novels.
In which I’m asked thoughtful questions about reading and writing and proceed to talk about Batman.
