Five Simple Steps To Make 2013 Your Most Spiritual Year Yet!

We’ve spoken a lot about the new consciousness that’s emerging after 21.12.2012. It’s all very well to talk about entering a new era of spiritual understanding and soul expansion but what can we be doing to make the most of this amazing vibe? You don’t have to meditate every day or decide to give up wine, carbs or shoe shopping to be leading a spiritual life. Just follow to five simple steps below to have your most amazingly spiritual year yet!

1: Put the past behind you. Stop dwelling on what you didn’t accomplish last yea or at any time in the past. Focus instead on the amazing opportunities that are heading your way in 2013. Your potential is unlimited and the past is no indicator of what the future can bring you unless you keep looking back at it!

2: Learn all you can about a spiritual area that interests you. This may sound obvious but reading books, watching films with a spiritual message, joining a psychic development group or writing about your spiritual journey in a diary or even a blog opens you up to lessons and opportunities you just wouldn’t have recognised before.

3: Make a difference in some way. Donate some items you don’t need to charity. Volunteer. Raise awareness for a cause through your social media. Spread messages for positive change. You don’t have to change the world. Just one person – you.

4. Be in the moment. You don’t have to take time to meditate but at least once a day observe yourself in the moment. Be mindful of what you are doing. When you see every action as a spiritual process you are connected to spirit and leading a spiritual life.

5: Learn to love and value yourself. This is the big one and the one most of us have the most difficulty with. Self-love has nothing to do with vanity, self-centeredness or being egotistical. In fact, it’s the complete opposite of all those things as people who genuinely love and value themselves have no need to compare themselves to others. Know you are unique and incredibly important not just to the people who care about you but also in how your mere presence here affects the lives of others. Thousands of events and important connections would never have been made if you were not a part of the wonderful whole that is life!

These five steps, despite being simple, can have you vibrating at a higher spiritual level and opening up to new possibilities for living a more connected and soul-purposeful life not just in 2013 but beyond.

The Brain In Our Heart – Feelings And Reality

Are you ruled by your heart or by your head? In our society we tend to believe we are deferring to one or the other with of course, the ‘logical’ head being seen as the one to follow. Our ‘gut feelings’ and intuition is dismissed as irrational and considered less important that the intellect and the ‘rational’ mind.

However, since the 90’s many scientists and medical researchers have been quietly discovering that other parts of our body besides our brains have their own intelligence and boast their own neurons, neural pathways and even their own independent nervous systems. Inside our hearts and even our guts, are what science now refers to a ‘little brains’ which communicate with our minds and together these form a comprehensive picture of what we think and feel.

Our ‘gut feelings’ and intuition have played a key role in our evolution and how we perceive our world today. These emotional reactions tell our brain what is going on and this in turn influences our logical thought process, rather than our brain dictating our emotions. For those on a spiritual path this is nothing new. We’ve always known that our heart is the source of our wisdom. However, these recent studies show that what we consider to be ‘consciousness’ is in fact the brain and the body working together. So, if we begin to think of our hearts not just as a pump but as a source of wisdom, this in turn helps us to trust our instincts and go within to make important choices in our life. We have infinite wisdom inside us, if only we take the time to be still and listen. Perhaps it’s time for all of us to ‘quiet the mind’ as we do in meditation and really listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us.

It doesn’t stop there, science is slowly catching up and finding that we are all infinitely connected, our brain and heart can synchronise with each other bringing us into rhythm and our emotions are contagious. What we feel and our energy can spread like a virus from person to person. We are more connected than we could ever dream of and the true reality of changing ourselves to heal the world become clear. Professor Mohamed Omar Salem in his paper The Heart, Mind and Spirit speaks of how this ties into the emerging Quantum view of the universe saying: ‘Possibly further advancement in quantum physics may one day give us further insight into how we can formulate this new model of the heart, mind and spirit.’

As we step into a new consciousness, we have the opportunity to synthesise ourselves and listen to our entire being. The key to our power and knowledge is available if we take the time to get to know ourselves and to love ourselves and each other. The seed of our psychic ability, our evolution and our spiritual awakening is already within us not only individually, but also through our collective consciousness. These ‘new discoveries’ are just the beginning.

Mid life crisis or mid life breakthrough?

Hello Gorgeous Soul,

This week I have done something that I have thought about all my life, it’s something that I’ve been toying with for a long time but always managed to talk myself out of.  Yet all of a sudden I just got hit by a thought wave that asked, ‘If you don’t do it now, when are you going to do it?’ So. overcoming my fears I jumped out of my comfort zone and landed deep into challenge and adventure.

Having made my decision I joked that I was having a mid life crisis but then I sat and thought about all those urges I’d been feeling for ages that I’d been pushing away and really paid attention to what they were.  They were all connected to making my life and work bigger and better.  And that made me ask the question, is this really a mid life crisis – or am I having a mid life breakthrough?

It actually felt like a watershed moment in which all of the ideas I’d been working with suddenly broke free and made a quantum leap away from any lingering insecurity that I’d been dogged by as a child and teenager.  Because really, if I don’t do it now, when am I going to do it?

Mid life crises get a bad press.  Yes, sometimes they mean that people do things that do seem wild and crazy.  Maybe they leave long term relationships, quit jobs to follow their dreams or up sticks and move over the other side of the world.  Maybe like me they suddenly decide that they are going to push forward on what they do, or, like my friend, just dye their hair the pink they’ve always admired on other people.

The gift within the mid life breakthrough (as I’m going to call it from now on) is that you get a sudden overwhelming connection with the truth that – well, if not now, when are you going to do it?  Life is a precious gift and there to be cherished and lived fully.

As an impulsive, fiery Aries, well used to upping sticks and moving on when necessary (but even so sometimes leaving it far longer than I perhaps should) I was slightly shocked to find that I’d been holding myself back.  Sometimes the urges we feel at any age force us to ask questions about where we need to compromise for the sake of others and where we absolutely have to dance on to the beat of our own drum.

Maybe the real problem is that we leave it too long.  As years go by, bit by bit, day by day and decision by decision, our lives get pushed away from our authentic course until we wake up one day and realise that we are on alien ground and the atmosphere doesn’t suit us.  But then it’s a lot harder to up rip up our roots and make our way forward or back to our native land.  We can end up feeling trapped and resentful.

Mid life breakthroughs are far too valuable to be left until we are forty or fifty, sixty or seventy!  Being acutely aware of this incredible gift that we have been given – the chance to make this journey here in a world that has its fair share of problems but is also still beautiful, incredible, amazing and full of possibility (even the possibility that we might work together to solve its problems) – keeps us awake at the wheel.   Maybe the real question is about how we can ingrain this crucial awareness into ourselves before we find ourselves hundreds of miles off course.

So if you suspect that you are also having a mid life breakthrough, at least listen to the truth that you are discovering about yourself.  Don’t be too quick to push it away.  You may just be missing out on the most important piece of wisdom echoing through from your very soul.

Wish me luck!

Loads of love,

Michele x

How does a psychic medium work?

Following on from my article in which I talked about how psychic readers can use different psychic skills along with various divination tools to give a psychic reading, I wanted to say a bit more about how you choose what kind of psychic reading is best for you.

There are so many ways that you can have a psychic reading these days.  Some people prefer to have a psychic reading face to face whilst others like the convenience of having a psychic reading over the telephone.

Before you have a psychic reading, it really is worth putting some thought into what you want to get out of it.  No matter what psychic skills or divination tools a psychic reader uses, an exceptional psychic reader should be able to provide insight into what is going on for you right now and along with that help you connect with your own power to make your own decisions.

But what if you are looking to make a connection with loved ones who have crossed over?

Someone who wants to connect with those who have crossed over is called a medium.  Mediums tend to work in different ways.  Some mediums see their role purely as providing evidence of the continuation of life and comfort for the person having the psychic reading.  They work to  bring through loved ones and talk about them in ways that means the person having the reading can verify that they have made a connection with the person who has crossed over.  Mediums may talk about special objects, past times or preferences that the person having the reading recognises.  In such sittings, the information passed by the medium often doesn’t go beyond saying anything that may confirm that a connection has been made and perhaps adding a message of love and support.

Other mediums make connections with those who have crossed over, but along with providing confirmation of the continuation of existence, those who have crossed over whom they connect with might offer specific insights into what is going on for the sitter through the medium.  Sometimes it might be quite jokey – a medium might tell you that the loved one is saying that they don’t like a new haircut – but it can also be very deep and profound.  In these situations, it is possible that a person having a psychic reading might be able to verify the information given about the situation they are in even if they can’t identify the person giving it.

How can this be?  A medium may be connecting with their own spirit guides, or the spirit guides of the person having the reading.  Spirit guides can be those who have crossed over, although they can also be souls we’ve never actually met in this incarnation.

Any reputable medium will tell you that it’s just not possible to guarantee a connection with a specific person.

All in all, that means that if you are having a psychic reading because you specifically want to connect with someone who has crossed over, it is important to look out for a psychic reader who says that they also work as a medium or someone who is purely a medium.  But it’s also important to recognise that it might not be possible for the medium to make a connection.

If this is something that is important to you, it’s well worth going on line and looking up your local spiritual church.  Regular meetings and open circles are usually held that are donation only.  Mediums taking the platform, as it’s called, may tune in to the person you would like the connection with.  Nothing is guaranteed, but this is a very respected route that many of my readers and also internationally famous mediums have taken as they develop the psychic skills that they use in psychic readings.

Loads of love,

Michele x

Think Money Buys You Happiness? Flip It!

How many people do you know who would love to win the lottery? Chances are you may be one of them. If so, what do you think the money will buy you? If you list ‘happiness’ as one of your items, think again. The latest research conducted by the National Academy of Sciences in the US shows that if you think this you need to adjust your viewpoint 180 degrees – in other words, turn it on its head. If money equates to happiness then it certainly doesn’t explain the number of very rich and extremely unhappy people out there. What the research does reveal however is that being happy can make you more money in the longer term!

Researchers looked at more than 10,000 people at ages 16, 18 and 22 and looked at their incomes by the time they reached 29 (the time of our Saturn return). They factored in various things that were thought to contribute to financial success such as IQ, education level and self-esteem. What they discovered surprised them. Whether you are smart, dumb, well-educated, unqualified, tall, thin, short or fat, confident or insecure, happy people earn more money than unhappy ones. The deeply unhappy teens in the survey ended up earning 30 per cent less than the average while the very happy teens went on to earn 10% above average! The team then took this one step further comparing 3000 people in sibling pairs who shared the same parents and presumably the same socio-economic status and opportunities. Once again, the happier siblings still did much better financially than their less-happy counterparts.

Michael Norton, a behavioural scientist at Harvard Business School, says these findings suggest that encouraging positive thinking in kids and teens could greatly improve their chances of future success.  Just think how different your life might be today if Positive Thinking was on the school curriculum!

All this proves that your thoughts create your reality and your experience. Let’s face it – we live in a material world and as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs has proved – we all need our basic needs taken care of before we can start to think about larger and more spiritual matters. Wanting money for its own sake or to buy us things we think will compensate for lack of self-worth is counter-productive to our long term happiness. If we are seeking abundance – riches in every area of our lives not just money – then happiness really does seem to offer the key to us attaining true wealth and that’s the wealth of a satisfying life. Money is just a by-product of that!

2013 and a new spiritual awakening is taking place, our one true spiritual task that we give the most priority to, should be concentrating on being happy. Because when we achieve that, everything else will follow.

Animal Magic! How Just Looking At Animals Makes Us Feel Good

How are you feeling today? Chances are no matter what your mood, just looking at the image of the cute kitten that accompanies this article has made you feel better. The benefits of animal ownership have been well-documented and also animals as therapy for a wide range of physical and psychological ailments. There’s a miniature Shetland pony in my area who visits hospice patients, standing next to their beds or wheelchairs so they can pet her. Just interacting with her for a few minutes brings joy to people who might not get to see animals (and certainly not horses!) otherwise.

But animals don’t have to be there in person to elevate our mood. New research from Japan has found that even looking at pictures of cute animals – such as this fluffy kitten, not only makes us feel good but increases productivity at work! Researchers at Hiroshima University found students who looked at images of cute animals such as puppies and kittens, performed set tasks with greater care and ease while those who were given ‘less cute’ animals to look at or images that contained no animals, didn’t do nearly as well. The study, called ‘The Power of Kawaii’ (Japanese for ”cute”), discovered that the positive emotions the images trigger, not only create feelings of happiness and wellbeing but result in a narrowed attention focus – in other words it improves our ability to concentrate. The researchers concluded that exposure to cute animal images could have the same effect as having the animal there – improving our sense of wellbeing and also our productivity.

If you’re not able or ready to have a pet of your own, or if you need that soul-boost to get you through your working day, installing that desktop wallpaper of those kittens or looking at cute animal videos on YouTube could be the next best thing when it comes to enjoying the gifts that animals can bestow. And if your boss catches you on-line at work, you can always tell them you are researching ways to improve your productivity! So, next time you feel like having a laugh about that co-worker who keeps photos of her cat on her desk, think again. She could be onto something.

The Real ‘Heroes’: China’s Amazing Experiments into Mind Over Matter

Exceptional Human Functions (EHF). People who demonstrate skills such as being able to manipulate matter outside of the known laws of physics. Yes – that sounds just like the premise of the amazingly successful TV series Heroes, doesn’t it? As usual however, fiction is a mere reflection of the truth as news is reaching the West of research carried out by the Chinese over several decades now where individuals demonstrating a range of skills are conducting experiments which appear to defy the laws of physics and are literally able to manipulate matter with their minds.

To understand what is happening we need to go back 60 years. At this point in time McCarthyism was a terrible and destructive meme which had infected the United States political and social landscape. Enter into this miasma of negativity and de-volution one Dr. Tsien Hsueshen who was awarded his PhD at Caltech University. Dr. Hsueshen went on to develop the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), participate in the Manhattan Project, and earn special recognition as one of the top rocket scientists in the U.S. However, despite all these achievements, he was deported to China against his will at the height of McCarthyism. Caltech hired a top lawyer to defend him who later stated: “That the [U.S.] government permitted this genius, this scientific genius, to be sent to Communist China to pick his brains is one of the tragedies of this century.”

A tragedy for Dr. Hsueshen perhaps and for the US scientific program in general but not as it turned out for China. Upon his return to China, Dr. Hsueshen was put in charge of a special program designed to identify citizen who could demonstrate mind-over-matter abilities. Dr. Tsien then established special labs within many of China’s science and technology universities, formally authorized the study and analysis of these abilities, and began to personally train the best and brightest science students in systems science and problem solving skills to carry out this research. He stated, “If this [phenomenon] is true, everything we know about science is wrong.” He was enough of a visionary to recognize the significance of these abilities towards the development of future scientific theoretical models and technologies.

In the decades that followed, hundreds of elite, specially trained researchers from a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines within China’s technical Universities have studied the physical phenomena generated by these EHF’s. They have proved their  ability to manipulate matter non-locally through intensely focused thought. Tsien’s specially trained researchers have monitored and supervised experiments to validate the quality of the data produced, and thousands of papers have been published. Often, the scientists maintain career-long relationships with EHF’s as a partnership to jointly explore both human ability and the cutting edge theoretical science this work implies. The scientists also noted that the EHF’s skills were linked to how spiritually developed they were. In other words, the greater their spiritual beliefs, the better their skills.

This research is only now being made available to the West but it puts China decades ahead when it comes to understanding how our thoughts impact on matter and in turn, its impact on theoretical physics. In terms of Quantum Creating, it appears that Dr. Hsueshen and his EHF’s may turn out to be the first scientifically provable Quantum Creators.

Does Being Spiritual Mean I’m Crazy?

Recent research published by the University College in London appears to indicate that people with spiritual beliefs are more likely to suffer from psychological disorders than those who follow an organised religion or alternatively are agnostic. The study, published in British Journal of Psychiatry, concluded that: “People who have a spiritual understanding of life in the absence of a religious framework are vulnerable to mental disorder.

Before the media jumps in and blows the study out-of-proportion or you feel that your spiritual beliefs are now something to put aside or be ashamed of, let’s look at these findings from a practical and holistic point of view.

Those of us who hold spiritual beliefs (which can also encompass those of organised religion I might add! How many of you like Pi in Life of Pi have developed a belief system based on aspects of faith from many religions and sources?!), are unduly sensitive to people, situations and emotions. We can say we are open receptors, taking in both the positive and negative aspects of all life has to offer. Very often, we arrive at a point of spiritual growth after severe trauma or challenges on our soul path. We may have become interested in spiritual growth AFTER this trauma occurred as in many cases explanations such as karma can help us place our experiences in a larger context, release them and let them go. All these factors can make someone more vulnerable to disorders such as depression, eating disorders etc – but that doesn’t mean spiritual beliefs are to blame.

Of course if you are feeling confused or feel you are suffering from any form of stress, panic attack or ‘hearing voices’ it is essential that you do get the opinion of a good doctor or therapist.

It can be a chicken-and-egg scenario. A study conducted by a psychiatrist in Finland into his patient’s psychic ability found a link between increased intuition and childhood abuse. Patients who had been abused as children developed their ‘6th sense’ as a survival skill as they would often need this to gauge what kind of mood the abuser was in. So we can say that psychic ability is a survival mechanism for many.

Other studies however have shown that following religious or spiritual practices provides enormous physical and psychological benefits and helps people to integrate intellectually and emotionally. “Transcendent spiritual and religious experiences have a positive, healing, restorative effect, especially if they are ‘built in,’ so to speak, to one’s daily, weekly, seasonal, and annual cycles of living,” said Ellen Idler, Acting  Dean  of  Social  and  Behavioural  Sciences  at  Rutgers  University, in a paper entitled ‘The Psychological and Physical Benefits of Spiritual/Religious Practices’. After all, the benefits of meditation are well documented.

The London study did conclude that more research is needed into this subject.  So, to say you’re a spiritual person certainly doesn’t mean you are crazy and at the end of the day, our vulnerability to psychological illness is determined by many factors just as it is to catching a cold! In the interim, it’s important that all of us follow beliefs that sustain us and allow us to follow our soul path in peace and in physical and spiritual health.
