This full Moon will trigger intense emotions within all of us. Perhaps surprising us with how strongly we really feel about something. Especially if we have been avoiding our emotional truth.

If we have taken on board messages that a part of us isn’t loveable, or if growing up we were made to feel we had to act a certain way contrary to who we are to gain love and approval, these are the kinds of wounds that will be illuminated. It asks we go back to the truth of who we are. Embrace that in order to heal it. Especially if what is wounded is the hurt child within us.

On January 21, 2024 Pluto re-enters Aquarius. Although the planet of transformation and rebirth has one last fleeting return to Capricorn towards the end of the year, it is now very much in Aquarius until it dips its toes into the sign of Pisces in 2043. Welcome to the new Aquarian Age of Power to the People.

During its transit of Capricorn which began in 2008, Pluto asked us for a transformative approach to our careers – and what we considered success stories. Authoritative people and structures we had created were held up to scrutiny. And we may have decided we defined what success looked like via our own criteria from here on in. Not what society told us it looked like. Those we placed our trust in and who occupied positions of power and then abused this to manipulate others, were held accountable. While those who operated from a place of integrity and seeking to truly be of service, would have received rewards.

Aquarius is the sign of the collective and paradoxically, our individuality. It’s the sign of inclusivity not traditional ‘old boys’ clubs. So, the work Pluto began in Capricorn is continued as it enters Aquarius. Instead of governance by the few, we will see a shift in power to that of the many. Aquarius is the sign of revolution and brave new worlds. So, we will see the old, stuffy, inclusive patterns in societies, give way a more cooperative and sharing approach. Traditions which work will be retained. But what doesn’t will be shaken up and replaced.

Large numbers of people will come together. But this will be about power sharing rather than one person at the top having it all. Expect shake-ups, unions and movements which focus on our collective future.

The first new Moon of ‘24 appears at 20 degrees of Capricorn. Stirring our ambitions and seeing us aiming for higher ground. Whether this is on a professional or personal potential level. The lyrics to Stevie Wonder’s Higher Ground (1973 – yes, way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and there was no internet), revolve around reincarnation and ‘trying again’. That’s pure Capricorn energy. Never giving up. Using what we have learned from our past and applying it for a better, higher result.

Along with Scorpio, Capricorn is one of the most misunderstood signs of the zodiac. The sea goat isn’t about unimaginative, dour and rigid thinking. Wherever you are is home on this day. Enjoy the delights of wherever you find yourself. And with this final full Moon of 2023, stop thinking just for this day that the grass is greener elsewhere. 

Of course, if you are thinking: Is this as green as it gets? The answer for some of you may be no. But this Moon tells you this is not the day to yearn for it. Instead take pleasure from the nurturing, safe and sensual space you find yourself in. Enhance it in whatever way you can. And above all, appreciate this and your people who share this with you. Growth is the theme of the new Moon in expansive, wish-fulfilling, go bolder Sagittarius. This is the last new Moon of the calendar year. The final opportunity to set those intentions ahead of the new one. Astrologically speaking, this new Moon is a far more powerful and potent point to set those new year resolutions than January 1. That’s because January 1 is merely a calendar date. So, if it will expand your soul, create a learning opportunity for you on some level, and most importantly lead to growth, then now is the time to set your intentions and begin it.

And go big with the goals. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter – the largest planet in our solar system. Go big or go home is a Sag motto. No small goals. No small outcomes.

First – a growth gratitude exercise. Take some time before you choose new stars to aim for, to look at the ones you reached this year. Review all you’ve achieved, learned and accomplished that led to growth on a key level for you. Anything that presented you with a learning curve, which opened your mind to fresh possibilities, that showed you more options, which expanded your worldview or added to your knowledge and experience base. See – you did greater than you imagined!

So, now take that feeling of bold capability and apply it to something new. Please don’t procrastinate when it comes to starting something. Or take too long mulling over whether you should accept an offer or not. They who hesitate see opportunity move in another direction. This is about faith as much as anything else. Faith in yourself. If there’s hesitation, it’s not the universe you don’t trust. It’s you.
