Spot the creator?

As an author, it’s really important to try and identify the earliest-known creators of a folding design or concept, or simply to identify who designed a model. I know others are often trying to spot the creator from an image. So, I’ve set up a Facebook group to try and help. You are invited to post photos here (no videos please) and maybe someone can tell you who created it and where it may have been published.

Off topic posters will be “retired”, let’s keep this group on-topic as much as possible.

A butterfly? For me?

What a wonderful gift I’ve had from Michael LaFosse. On Christmas Day, the 25th of December, 2016, he designed “A butterfly for Nick Robinson” to go in my book. I’m overwhelmeda butterfly for Nick Robinson by Michael LaFosse!

New butterfly

My table is groaning with ides for butterflies, caterpillars etc. Here’s one I like – a “butterfly on a leaf” As ever, the simplicity of result doesn’t match the skill required to fold it neatly!

Ranking?

fantasie_kimono1I know it’s an ego thing, but it would be nice to know where I stand in the pantheon of origami authors. Total sales information is impossible to get hold of, but with nearly 70 to my name I should be up there for quantity, if no always quality! It would make a nice (if unimpressive) epitaph ;)

Sunbathing Butterfly

I’m working on new designs for my my next project on Origami Butterflies. I’m keen to include some conceptual designs as well as more conventional ones. Here’s an “in progress” design in the silhouette series, where you hold it to the light to see it properly.

Butterflies, Flutterbies wanted

My next project will be devoted to origami butterflies. Suggestions and offers very welcome, but don’t delay! I’d like to include a few that are more conceptual – “butterfly on a leaf” etc. so please get your creative caps on. I have permission to include Yoshizawa’s classic – not a rare model, but a feather in the cap ;)
