Let’s Play Find!

Kong dog toyOne game our new dog seems to enjoy is playing “Find.” Of course, whatever she’s sent to find needs to have some kind of food associated with it, but she’s pretty good at finding rawhide chews or Kongs filled with peanut butter. As writers, what do we have to do to get people to find us? Rubbing ourselves with peanut butter probably isn’t the answer. Feebie the dog

Whats Cooking Wednesday — Maple Bourbon Sweet Potatoes

First — my apologies. A reader sent me her favorite sweet potato recipe, but between the new computer, and a new email program, it disappeared into the ether, and I can’t get in touch with the sender. If you’re reading this and want to send the recipe again, I’ll be sure to take better care of it. On a more positive note, the new computer came with an Epicurious app, which is where I found this recipe. It’s great because a lot of the work can be done ahead.

Confessions of a Gamer Chick

Today I welcome Kim Cresswell to Terry’s Place. Kim has been a story-teller all her life but took many detours before writing full-time, including; working for a private investigator, running a graphic design business, and teaching computer classes at a local business school. She’s also a content editor for a Canadian publishing house and a member of numerous online writing groups.

Just Write!

What I’m reading: Delusion in Death, by J.D. Robb (library)

Computer in author Terry Odell's officeI did something last week that I haven’t done in far too long—started working on a new manuscript. I’d been up to my eyeballs in finishing Deadly Bones, then dealing with edits, then traveling, then getting the new computer that I just let the writing slide. Starting a new project is always daunting. Which series should I continue? Or should I do a stand alone? Mystery? Romantic suspense?

Maybe this year would have been the one to join...

A Few Hints for Dealing With Holidays

What I’m reading: The Masked Heart, by Karla Darcy (Nook)
For anyone residing in the UK, or knowing someone who does, Barnes & Noble just announced that the NOOK is now available there. This means that Amazon’s Kindle is no longer the “only” option for e-readers in the UK. I’m pleased that all my e-books should now be available to NOOK owners as well.

And, I’ve been interviewed by author Terry Ambrose at Examiner.com

What’s Cooking Wednesday — Chocolate Pumpkin Pie

What I’m reading: Guardian Agent, by Dana Marton (Nook)

My daughter wanted to try a new recipe for Thanksgiving this year, and anytime anyone says they’re bringing food, I say yes! My daughter found the recipe at Janet Rudolph’s Dying for Chocolate site, and Janet, in turn, got it from her friend, Annmarie Kostyk, the Chocolate Goddess. It’s too good not to share (and I did ask Janet’s permission—if you like chocolate, you owe it to yourself to follow her blog.)
