In the Interview Room — Renee Charles
Today I welcome Renee Charles to Terry’s Place. Renee is a paranormal romance author who loves all things strange and unusual. Her debut novel may take place during a zombie apocalypse, but inevitably leaves you with a sigh at the end. She’s giving away a book, so be sure to read through and leave a comment. You have until Friday. Winner announced over the weekend.
Plotter or Pantser?
A little of both. I use a “road map” so to speak. Plot the big points of conflict and resolution, then pants my...

To Hear or Not to Hear — Part 3
I’m going to be at Bouchercon in Albany starting tomorrow, but never fear, my blog will still be here, with all the usual features. I just won’t be able to remind you to check in, so please bookmark the site and put it on your ‘to do’ list for the week.
Back to my continuing saga of putting my Pine Hills Police series into audio books. If you want to catch up, you can read Part 1 here, and Part 2 here.
In summary, I uploaded audition scripts for...

Friday Field Trip — The Mine
Last week, I showed the “around the town” shots I took while waiting for the tour of the Cripple Creek and Victor Mine. This week, it’s pictures of the mine from the tour itself. The mine is, logically enough, where the gold is. Miners over a century ago began mining the area and there’s lots of stuff “left over” from then.

That Dreaded Marketing
Don’t forget — Susan Vaughan is giving away a book to one person who leaves a comment on her post from Tuesday. Winner announced over the weekend
Marketing, I think, is the bane of many writers’ existence. I prefer to be a ‘set it and forget’ it kind of person, but even so, if nobody’s heard of us, nobody’s going to find our books. How do we get noticed? We interact on social media, we blog, we go to conferences (I’ll be at Bouche...

Remember the Fallen
I’m not posting a recipe today. Instead, please take time to remember those who gave and lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
What’s Cooking Wednesday will return on September 18th.

Is Indie Publishing For You?
Author and self-publishing guru Courtney Milan was our guest speaker at my local RWA chapter meeting, and her topic was Indie Publishing. She brought her own experiences and insights to her talk, and with the rapidly changing face of the industry, there’s always something new to learn.
First and foremost is that each person had to choose the path that makes the most sense, be in indie, traditional, or hybrid.
Ask yourself: What do you want...

Friday Field Trip — Victor, CO
Husbster wanted to do the big mine tour in Victor. We arrived early, so we wandered around town. Had Jason been with us, you’d have art today. Instead, you’re getting my snapshots.
And, after the tour, we had to stop for one the the Fortune Club’s malts. (Not a milk shake, but a real, honest-to-goodness, old-fashioned malt. Complete with sidecar)
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Second Chances — Redux

Did you set goals in January for the year 2013? How are you doing? Whether they’re writing related or life related isn’t the point. It’s having a direction, and a way to measure that direction. The key word is measurable. If you don’t know what you’ve done, you can’t know if you’re succeed...
