A Blogcation
As I mentioned Monday, I’m taking much of January off to edit the first book in my new Triple-D Ranch romantic suspense series as well as meet a February deadline for the second book. While I won’t be here on a regular basis, I hope you’ll check in, as I’ll have updates, and maybe even a few bonus posts from guests. You can sign up to get emails when I post something new, or follow in Networked Blogs. And, for simply keeping in touch, you can see what’s going on at my Facebook Author Page.

In the Interview Room – James Callan
Today I welcome James Callan to Terry’s Place. James writes mystery/suspense novels, his latest being Over My Dead Body.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?
I visited a morgue to be able to describe the place and the procedures involved in identifying a body found with no identification. While interesting, it was a bit unnerving to see the “tools of the trade.”
Plotter or Pantser?
A bit of both. Before I start a book, I need an idea of how the plot will develo...

Where it Began
I began blogging in July of 2006. That’s a long time, and a lot of posts. I thought I’d look back on my very first blog post.
Get a blog. Everyone’s got a blog. OK, so I now have a blog, too, although I’m not feeling any more “in” than I did before I started this.
What started me writing — the short answer: I ran out of wall space for needlepoint and needed a creative outlet.
The longer answer:
Not all THAT many years ago, my son was visiting, and as he flipped through the channels, he stoppe...

What’s Cooking Wednesday – Spicy Pecans
I found this recipe on Alton Brown’s site, and it was interesting because instead of baking the nuts, the recipe is prepared on the cooktop and it was quick. His recipe called for dried orange peel, but I used fresh since I didn’t have any dried.
Spicy Pecans
Ingredients:
t ground cumin
– t cayenne pepper (to taste: was a moderate heat level for me)
t ground cinnamon
t grated orange peel
t smoked paprika
1 pound pecan halves
4 T unsalted butter, cut into bits
c + 2 T packed brown sug...

In the Interview Room – Kathleen Heady
Today I welcome Kathleen Heady to Terry’s Place. Kathleen is the author of three mystery novels set in England and the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Clare.
What is the strangest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?
When I was researching for my first novel, The Gate House, in the city of Lincoln in the UK, I had the opportunity to go on a roof tour of Lincoln Cathedral. We walked on catwalks between the lead roof and the vaulting visitors see from the cathedral floor. The vau...
