Thank you to Canlit for Little Canadians
and Helen Kubiw for the lovely review of The Truth Commission! I can’t decide what line I love the most but I’m honoured by all of them.
And now I’m off to the VIU launch of The Truth Commission. Then I’ll be attending the launch for the 2015 Portal Magazine by VIU’s creative writing and journalism students. It’s a day to send our words into the world!

So I haven’t slept in about three nights
and I wondered, Geez, why not? What could possibly be the problem. Could it be because…
I have a NEW BOOK COMING OUT NEXT TUESDAY? COULD IT? (And also a serious Caps Lock issue, apparently).
Nerves: I have a few.
Feel free to pre-order it if you’re so inclined. And also feel free to like it a lot. Again, if you’re so inclined.
I should be in dandy shape by next week. Later today I’m going to write about my experience of trying to apply fake eyelashes to myself for the first time ever. Just in case you wondered what I’m doing with all this excess of energy/fretfulness.

And More Exciting Things!
The Truth Commission is an Amazon.com Book of the Month for April! What a great lineup to be part of, she says, throwing outdated grammar rules to the wind!
It’s also featured on Bustle.com and got the nod from the wonderful Kelly Jensen on Book Riot!
Happy April 1.

Some Exciting Things That Are 100% Legit
There will soon be a new look for Susan Juby.com! In the meantime, this version may be down a time or two.
However, that’s not all!
I’m pleased to report that The Truth Commission is a Top Pick review for April on Book Page!
It’s also the Top Pick review for Girl’s Life Magazine!
Thanks to Kirkus and Leila Ann Roy for the shoutout in a feature in the April issue of the magazine.
I will be doing an extensive blog tour for Truth Commission (dates and links to follow) and a LIVE IN PERSON tour from May 11-15 in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa. I’m so lucky to be touring with my friend and one of my favourite writers, Susin Nielsen. Her new book is called We Are All Made of Molecules and it’s really beautiful. Hilarious and poignant.
In honour of Susin’s excellence I have given myself a new appointment:
Look for details of our May adventures here!
I will also be giving a reading at the launch of the Gabriola Island Arts Festival this Thursday, April 2 at 7:00.
On Saturday, April 11, I will be giving a workshop on writing dialogue as part of the same festival. Details are here!
There will be a launch for The Truth Commission and Republic of Dirt at Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Campus on Thursday, April 9 at 3:00.
Hope to see you at some of these events.

Couldn’t agree more with the title!
Six Inspiring New Novels Every Woman Should Read
Thanks to The Globe and Mail and Marissa Stapley for the kind review and for including Republic of Dirt in this fine line-up of books. I think every man and child should also read these books. Just to be on the safe side.
Here is the quote I will enjoy quoting (when asked if I have any quotes I can share, obviously):
“…hilarity ensues, and Juby’s light, comic touch makes this read a genuine delight. But she isn’t just playing for laughs: There are also moments that are startlingly poignant, as each character is given a chance to shine – even Stan, the mule.”

Starred Review in Horn Book
Earlier I posted the wonderful news that The Truth Commission received its fourth star from The Horn Book Magazine. Here is an excerpt from the review itself. With deepest thanks to Lauren Adams and Horn Book!
“Normandy’s wry, detailed observations range from funny to sweet to painfully honest, as she confronts dark secrets in her own family but also discovers that her longtime crush “like likes” her, too. The self-referential narrative is replete with allusions to high art and pop culture that serve to develop the characters’ impressive range of creative and intellectual interests; the extensive footnotes on the writing process and sundry other topics are worth the distraction from the main story (despite Norm’s disclaimers otherwise). Juby’s bright dialogue and vivid, appealing characters draw readers along as the three young artists navigate truths both light and dark, discovering themselves in the process.”
Thanks to Katie Bircher for including The Truth Commission in her Horn Book article “Truth, Lies and Secrets“.
The Truth will be out in just under a month now!
