Flashback Friday: Back to the Future

This week’s Flashback Friday: Back to the Future

Since everyone else is looking at Back to the Future this week and having such a fabulous time with it, I wanted to jump on board.

Throwback Thursday: Back to the FutureThe first film came out in 1985–I was 7 years old. While there are many films I recall seeing in the theater at that age (Red Sonja being one of them), I don’t have any solid memory of seeing this in a theater. Yet I know I did. And after that, I have many memories of seeing this movie over and over again on televisi...

Throwback Thursday: Back to the Future

This week’s Book Cover Throwback: Back to the Future!

I realize that this comes a day after Back to the Future day (October 21, 2015), but yesterday was not a Thursday. I also realize that this is a movie and not a book, but in honor of yesterday, it’s worth the change.

Throwback Thursday: Back to the FutureWhat I Love about This Cover:As a child, I wondered why he was standing so close to the car fire, whether or not the car would explode and kill him, and what was bothering him about his watch. Were the batteries dead? Needless t...

Monday Night Gaming: Top 15 Upcoming Games

This week’s Monday Night Gaming: All the Games aka the Top 15 Games I’m Most Excited About.

One of the largest woes currently is that we’re living in corporate housing while we sell our condo and purchase a house. Minus the crucial stuff, all of our belongings are in storage–including all the game consoles.

It’s killing me that our consoles are in storage because so many great games are coming out this quarter. Both my husband and I have been sick with the crud for the past week (which includes...

Book Cover Throwback: Robin Hood

This week’s Book Cover Throwback: Robin Hood

Robin Hood Comic CoverWhat I Love about This Cover: There’s a serious nostalgia effect in looking at old comic books. It reminds me of many legends and stories I enjoyed as a child, including the tale of Robin Hood, which has always been one of my favorites. (Yes, I even love Kevin Costner’s version. So sue me.)

What I Don’t Love about This Cover: It looks like he’s wearing green jeans rather than breeches or leggings/tights as he would have worn.

Now I’m a REAL Writer (GeekGirlCon Wrap-up)

Last weekend was GeekGirlCon, which is always one of my favorite cons of the year. I love the idea of a con without the toxicity often found in larger conventions.

Most conventions these days are working conventions for me, though I try to take time to game and catch a few fun panels. GeekGirlCon was no exception, though this year was definitely different than previous years.

With all the housing chaos, I pushed myself too hard and relapsed on my sinus infection. Worse still, the infection had...

GeekGirlCon Schedule

My apologies for the lack of updates this week. All the condo selling drama made me relapse on my sinus infection, so I’ve been trying to steal rest time where I can in preparation for GeekGirlCon this weekend.

I’ve got one panel this weekend an two book signing times. If you’re going to GeekGirlCon, be sure to check out the panel or come say hello! I’m not contagious, I promise!

SCHEDULE:

SATURDAY–

10:30 AM-11:20 AM Analysis of Sex vs. Gender: Why, Where, & Going All the Way. Room 303 with Winte...

Flashback Friday: Cats & Netflix

This week’s Flashback Friday: Cats & Netflix

Cats & Netflix…not really a Flashback Friday so much as a Flashback to last week. I have no real reason to have this categorized as a Flashback Friday other than my want to spend today talking about cats…and Netflix. Don’t blame me–The Doubleclicks started it.

If you’re not familiar with The Doubleclicks’ song Cats & Netflix, you should be–especially if you live in the Pacific Northwest. Here, let me help you get this awesome song in your head:

It’s...

Book Cover Throwback: DEATH the High Cost of Living

This week’s Book Cover Throwback: DEATH the High Cost of Living #3 by Neil Gaiman, Chris Bachalo, & Mark Buckingham.

Book Cover Throwback: Death the High Cost of Living #3What I Love about This Cover: There’s a stark realism to the Death covers–a gritty appeal that draws people in.

What I Don’t Love about This Cover: It’s rather picky of me but I don’t like “the high cost of living” being centered while “DEATH” isn’t. It makes my eyes squirm.
