NaNo Wrap-Up

Today is the last day of November and for those participating in NaNoWriMo, it’s the last day to validate their 50K. It’s also time for a NaNo Wrap-Up.

NaNoWriMo 2015I set out on November 1st to write 90K in a complete rewrite of Amaskan’s War. If you know anything about me, you know I’m both determined and ruthless in my focus, yet November, like most of 2015, didn’t go as expected.

I loved and lost the perfect house in our house hunt…twice. We spent so much time looking at house after house in a limited in...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We’ll be heading out this evening for a vegetarian Thanksgiving with friends, but until then, we’ll be spending our Thanksgiving in the Wasteland

Fallout 42015 has been…interesting. It hasn’t been without its fair share of drama and chaos, but at the end of the day, I have a lot to be thankful for. Three books published and a load of new friends sounds like happiness to me.

I won’t get into the historical elements of Thanksgiving, but instead would encourage everyone to remember that...

#1 New Release!

There is nothing happier for an author than to see their hard work pay off with good rankings. Joy to the Worlds snuck out the door a bit early, and ended up as an Amazon #1 New Release!

#1 New Release Joy to the WorldsIt hit a few Top 100 charts as well, which makes it a happy day!

Snoopy DanceYep. I’m doing a Snoopy dance all across the living room, much to the cats’ confusion.

Flashback Friday: Dear America

This week’s Flashback Friday: Dear America

Dear America,

You’ve probably seen it on social media as it’s making the rounds, but in the early days of World War II, we turned away Jewish refugees seeking asylum in the United States. They were fleeing Hitler and for good reason. In fact, one of those refugee visas we denied was that of Anne Frank.Flashback Friday: Dear America

Photo of Anne FrankI remember reading The Diary of a Young Girl in middle school. I remember being baffled at the idea that anyone would want...

Joy to the Reviews!

Joy to the Worlds coverIn the past week, I’ve seen a slew of reviews pop up for Joy to the Worlds, including one from Publisher’s Weekly. I figured I’d share some of this holiday cheer with you, so Joy to the Reviews!

Great review from Publishers Weekly
“Eight short stories by four authors glisten with holiday wonder, each one decorated in hues of legend, myth, SF, and quirky, joyful fun.”

Great review from San Francisco Book Review
“…an imaginative ride into the ‘what-if’. Drawing from traditional mythology and lore...

Flashforward Friday: Adventures in Space

For this week’s Flashforward Friday: Adventures in Space

In the past few weeks, multiple scientific breakthroughs have occurred, resulting in some fascinating discoveries.

It’s suspected that scientists have discovered a parallel universe leaking into ours. This information is based on data received from the European Space Agency’s Planck telescope.

If that’s true, it could confirm the possibility of parallel universes and could change how we think of time and time travel. Time travel is theoret...

Word Counts & Contracts

I figured it was time for a bit of an update on my “kick-my-ass-into-this-rewrite” November. I’m currently sitting at a smidge over 20K words, though if all were going according to plan, I’d be sitting at 36K.

So I’m behind schedule. What else is new?

I have a perfectly valid reason for it though!

Real Estate Humor ComicYep! On Monday, we finally had an offer on our condo! (The market slowed to a freaking trickle with the holidays approaching.) We spent most of the day going back and forth signing documents…to the tun...
