Recipe of Me

I can’t believe my Kickstarter goes live tomorrow. This is currently the recipe of me:

2 cups of What Did I Forget1 cup of Excitement1 bunch of Nerves½ lb. of Double-Triple Checking Everything

1 Tbsp of I Found a Mistake (and Fixed it)

Take all ingredients, mix it together in a blender of anxiety, and set outside in the Seattle rain for an hour. Yum.

Many Deaths of…

You all know I love sharing good reads, especially when they share my snarky humor. Double points when the author can poke fun at themselves. Both make me happy to share Jennifer Brozek‘s new release: The Many Deaths of Jennifer Brozek . Picture a bunch of short stories where she, the author, kills herself via a variety of methods–everything from being stabbed to death by pens to poisoning from an unhappy author whose story didn’t make the cut.I don’t review or share every book my friends and...

Another Teaser…

It’s Teaser Time!

I’ve got another sneak peek of The Bell Ringer & Other Holiday Tales collection for you. Some of the best tiers in this Kickstarter are the tiers at the top. You’ll have six unique opportunities to back the campaign and not only get the full-color hardback collection, but an original giclee canvas art piece of mine. We’re talking original. One-of-a-kind. As in, you’ll have a piece of my original art that no one else will ever have

That’s pretty cool if I do say so myself. Oh!...

I’m Weightless

Today I’m feeling weightless.

My favorite short story I’ve ever written is a little story called “Weightless.” It was first published in a micro-press anthology entitled The Great Beyond, but more recently, it’s found a true home in Soul Jar, an anthology featuring stories by 31 disabled authors. I love this anthology for all sorts of reasons, but mostly because as a disabled author, we don’t see enough disabled characters using their disabilities as strengths and learning to love themselves fo...

All the Pretty Books

I have a thing for pretty books.

The above image is one of six bookshelves in my office. (One of these days I’ll give a proper walkthrough of my space.) I’ve enjoyed looking at books since my eyes could see. I was reading and writing at 2 ½ -3 years old so books have been a part of my life forever.

I think that’s one of the reasons I wanted The Bell Ringer & Other Holiday Tales to be such a pretty book. It’s part stories and part art, but all me.

I recorded a video on this topic to talk more abo...

Quick Teaser

There have been some questions about this upcoming Kickstarter of mine, so I wanted to take a moment to answer them.

DON’T I ALREADY HAVE THESE STORIES?

Because The Ringers and Ol’ St. Nick have appeared before in Joy to the Worlds: Mysterious Speculative Fiction for the Holidays as well as singularly, some folks think The Bell Ringer & Other Holiday Tales is the same two stories, but it’s NOT! While those two stories are in the collection (with fresh edits), there are other new stories in the c...
