Book Release - Sheila the Vampire - Grant Eagar
Hurray!
Today is the release of my book: Sheila the Vampire: Dancing with the Enemy. I have been working on this off and on for several years. I finally got it to where I want it and I hope you enjoy what I have come up with. I appreciate my Beta readers that I have had over the years. They encouraged me and kept me writing. I published one chapter: 'The Devil in a red Dress' as part of the anthology 'These Vampires Still don't Sparkle'.
I love how the cover came out, it was done by Lara Wynter (Wynter design). My son Sean is on the cover which was kind of cool. My last cover had my son Charlie on it, I think I have started something.
Go Here to order it. If you click on kindle she has a blue dress and if you click on the paperback book she has on a red dress.

Blurb:
Sheila the Vampire is a romantic comedy from the perspective of the monster.
Sheila is forced to marry against her will, but when her husband dies she feels her fortunes have improved. She just has to act wretched rather than joyous to keep up appearances, but soon a vampire clan takes an interest in her.
At midnight of the full moon, the clan attempts to force her to become one of them. She kills the clan leader and his second in the process while remaining part human. She becomes the mistress of what is left of the clan and has a single minion, Naomi, whom she must now care for.
Because Sheila is only half-vampire her bite comes with special healing properties, therefore she is the target of the Duke who wants to take advantage of her healing power. Her blood allows other vampires to be resistant to the cross, holy water, garlic, and the vampire hounds, thus other clans are after her blood.
She takes the persona of her dearly departed husband and goes into exile to Ireland. She soon realizes that the hunters are pursuing her there as well. She becomes infatuated with one of the hunters, Mister Jones. How can she get to know him better without being staked?
She and Naomi travel to Portugal to find some witches to turn them human. They must continue to evade the hunters there. She confronts the witches; will they end her life or help her? Only one of them can become human again, who will it be; her or Naomi?

Cover Reveal - Sheila the Vampire: Dancing with the Enemy
I'm excited to share the cover of my next book; Sheila the Vampire: Dancing with the Enemy. I did a survey with the red dress and the blue dress, with fangs or without fangs. So about 70% said no fangs so that was pretty straight forward, but the color of the dress was a different matter. It was tied so I had to make an executive decision, I chose the red dress since that is the color in the book and it seems right for a vampire. It was interesting that women all wanted the red dress and the men the blue dress.
To preorder select here.
My son Sean is the vampire hunter/love interest in the background. It was fun using his picture.
I asked Lara to put a more distinctive moon in the picture since that is part of Sheila's curse. She has to drink blood during the full moon. I thought the moon Lara came up with rocks.
My illustrator was once again Lara Wynter from Wynter design. I feel she created a fantastic cover. I'm always excited about what she comes up with.

Today is the day I finally get to release my book Henry and Sophie: A SteamPunk Romance. I've been working on this for five years now and it feels wonderful to release it. I appreciate all the people who Beta read if for me over the years. I'm also thankful for Lara Wynter who did such a fantastic cover for me.
This novel started out as a short story and grew into a novel. It has truly been a labor of love. I've really enjoyed the hours devoted to writing and rewriting this story.

This doesn’t stop Sophie Thomas from bringing English officers to look at his creations, though Henry can’t understand why. He senses she has feelings for him, but it’s hard to know if her love is genuine or she is merely playing an elaborate game.Sophie Thomas is a brilliant war spy. Without Henry’s knowledge

Happy Father's Day - Grandpa
Happy Father's Day - Grandpa
Randy Travis, He walked on water ,
WALTER’S WIT Some of his sayings: “hot today and hot tamale”, “come in if your nose is clean” or “come in and have a clean bite”,(such a joker). He was a great storyteller and aside from entertaining the scouts with stories of mountain lions or “old big foot” the last Grizzly on Pine Valley Mountain. He could tell you a funny story or make up a joke on the spot and if he sat down with Uncle Frank, Uncle Thomas and his nephew Junior Eagar it would be like they say, “the first liar never had a chance.”He always maintained that a man who said he was the boss in his own home would lie about other things. Just to illustrate some of his sayings about mom he would say: “when I married Jessie I also had to marry her piano”. More than once I heard this one: “ The other day I wanted to buy Jessie a new dress so I went into a department store in St. George and told the sales girl to help me pick one out. When she did so I asked her to give it to my wife when she came in later. The clerk asked me how she would know who to give it to. I replied: Just watch for the most beautiful woman who comes into your store today. That will be her.” Dad was always the “outdoorsman” and loved to hunt the deer and be up in the hills after them. He often entertained California hunters who would never miss the thrill of hunting with Walter Eagar. He had a way of making it so exciting for them. I remember Jim and Alice Griner also Dean and Dodie. Then there was Hughie Long who got so excited when he saw a buck that he emptied most of his shells on the ground before he found the trigger. They always brought us oranges and other goodies even a little port wine for Dad (medicinal of course). Dad also took them down to Lake Mead to fish. This was always a great experience for they would go out on the Lake in “Uncle” Nephi Lee’s boat with the big Johnson and Johnson out-board motor. We first caught minnows in Harrisburg (Quail Creek before the dam) and bought a pound or two of raw shrimp so we had our bait. When anyone hooked onto a big one there was plenty of excitement and lots of help with the dip net. Another way Dad got out into the hills was to go after loads of Juniper and Pinyon wood both to sell and for our own use. He enjoyed taking us boys with him and after we piled up a sizable amount of wood on a mesa he would stretch the cable and tying the wood on with baling wire send it flying down where we could load it on the old Chevy pickup truck. Sometimes he would use dynamite to blast a big stump out of the ground. When we were ready to head home Dad always managed to have some bottles of Pepsi, Vienna Sausage, and some Danish rolls. They sure tasted good up there in the mountain air. One summer dad was sawing up the wood in stove lengths to sell when his hand slipped and he almost cut two of his fingers off. They healed but not completely and he always said he couldn’t do his fingering on the violin as well as before. During these later years Walter served well as Bishop in Leeds. He and Jessie organized an “old timer” dance band to play for the senior citizens in Hurricane. They played there every week for a good number of years.Walter was generous to a fault and would never turn away a tramp or a hobo. He was always afraid that “it might be my old dad”. In Leeds over the years Walter served in many capacities such as bishop, scoutmaster and counselor to four bishops. Serving as Postmaster he listened to many problems and gave out advice and comfort as only he knew how to give. For many years he was the only barber in town. He never received much pay for his haircuts nor expected much. In all of his interaction and service Walter would inject his special wit so that folks would go away in a good humor. He was often called upon to help “lay out” the dead and prepare them for burial (before Mortuaries took over). As you can tell from this account, Walter was a many faceted man with lots of talents and abilities. He was not a complainer nor was he the bearer of gossip. He just served unselfishly both for his family and for his community.Walter lived for his family and died in their embrace on the 23rdof October 1994. It is no exaggeration to say that he lives on in memory by the good he did to so many of us and in fact he will continue to live on in his posterity. Tracing back Walter’s lineage one finds him descending from many of the great and noble men of history: Charlemagne, William, the Conqueror and Alfred, the Great. He also counts as progenitors some who played prominent parts in American history such as John Alden, Priscilla Mullins and Edward Winslow. Far from being proud or looking down on anyone Walter loved his fellow man. He only wanted the best for his family and never passed up a chance to help them whenever he could. I hope we may all appreciate the legacy he passed on to us and be faithful in passing “the torch” to the generations that follow. This is expressed in one of Dad’s favorite poems by Longfellow:
Lives of Great men all remind us,We can make our lives sublime,And departing, leave behind usFootprints in the sands of time Footprints that perhaps another,Sailing o’er life’s stormy main,A forlorn and shipwreck’d brother,Seeing, shall take heart again.
I think we can all “take heart” from Walter’s “footprints” and learn to be positive in loving life and living it to the fullest.

Book Release - Angelica:The princess and the Pig - Grant Eagar
Hi All,
My novel, Angelica: The Princess and the Pig is now released. Hurrah! It has been a labor of love and I'm excited to finally get it published.
It started out as a short story that I presented in the Philadelphia Writer's Workshop with our instructor Rachel Koben. I was working away from home at the time and the workshop brought me much joy. My writing was rough, but the experience kept me occupied while away from home.

The cover is by Lara Wynter from Australia. I am excited how it turned out. I had three different versions of the cover that I had my coworkers vote on and this is what we came up with. I appreciate Lara's patience and her ability to keep the projects out of the weeds. This picture is taken from a scene where Angelica must fend off some kidnappers to defend the princess and Riana, the fairy, joins the mayhem.
The Blurb:
A great tale of magic with a relatable main character …Very satisfying … a pacy read, with lots of humor. - ClareMore than Angelica, I loved the imagination. The story never pauses. It keeps you on this fast, fun ride. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments paired with the edge of your seat action. - JordanAngelica, a witch, is determined she will not be a lady-in-waiting to the princess. Her brilliant plan is to speak out against the war in front of the king. The good news is that she is not hung. The not so good news is that she gets a day in the stocks and the lowly position of a maid. She begins her new life in service to the princess, but when kidnappers attempt to take her royal highness, Angelica turns the princess into a pig in a last-ditch effort to rescue her.The only problem is, Angelica doesn’t know how to turn the princess back.Armed with only her on-again/off-again magical powers, Angelica needs to thwart the kidnappers, end the war, and save the princess. This picture is taken from a scene where Angelica must fend off some kidnappers to defend the princess and Riana, the fairy, joins the mayhem.

The Blurb:
Angelica, a sixteen-year-old witch, knows exactly what is to become of her, thanks to the unwanted meddling of her mother. Angelica is destined to obtain the coveted position of lady-in-waiting to the princess. But when Angelica speaks out against the war in front of the king, her reward is a day in the stocks and the best she can get is the lowly position of a maid in the castle instead.
Her new life isn’t as bad as she had expected, thanks to Angelica’s budding friendship with the princess. But when kidnappers attempt to take her royal highness, Angelica turns the princess into a pig in a last-ditch effort to rescue her. The only problem is, Angelica doesn’t know how to turn the princess back.
Armed with only her on again/off again magical powers, Angelica needs to thwart the kidnapper’s larger plans, end the war, and save princess. If she fails the princess will be eaten or worse yet taken to France by the kidnappers.

After a visit to the queen and a generous contribution to the war fund, Angelica gets the position as personal maid for the princess instead.

Short Story - End of the World - Grant Eagar
Short Story - The End of the World – Grant Eagar
It was noon on November 3, 2020 'Election Day'. Senator Snurfdog sat at the head of a banquet table in his campaign headquarters hotel surrounded by his minions. They had opened several dozen bottles of champagne served with fine cheeses, crackers, and an extensive fruit blend. Those present wore tuxes and formal gowns.
His bid to be elected president was going well, he was ten points ahead in the polls. He was what you would call a sure bet.
Tyler, a Vietnam veteran homeless man walked up to him holding a sign that read “The End is nigh” and said, “Senator, justice is upon you, your chance to repent and change your ways is past. The end soon cometh, you’re going down. When this election is over you'll not be able to get a job picking up garbage.”
The senator glanced at Tyler whom he had used as a photo prop. He winced and said, “Can someone clear the riff raff away? We already me with him in a photo. Put him back on the street where he belongs.” He covered his mouth with his hand and glanced at the CSPAN camera, the lone camera active at the moment and hoped they didn’t catch what he had just said. He did not notice the man slipping truth serum into his drink.
His assistant tapped his shoulder and handed him a microphone and before turning it on whispered, “Senator, it’s time for your toast and speech. Thank everyone and talk about your plans for the future of the country. Today’s buzz word is job creation.”
The senator took another gulp of champagne then stood on shaky legs and tapped his chest with his fist. He looked into the lenses for CNN, Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC and a dozen other cameras, and raised his goblet. "Ladies and gentleman, I propose a toast to all of you and your staff for your hard work and everything you have done to insure my victory.” At this there was enthusiastic applause. He raised his hand to recognize the applause then struggled to speak. The truth serum that his drink had been spiked with was taking affect and he was fighting to come up with good lies. This along with too much champagne was loosening his inhibitions. Sometimes a few inhibitions are a good thing.
“F-First I'd like to give thanks. I’m thankful that none of my mistresses have come forward. Obviously the campaign funds I used to hush them up, paid off well.” He covered his mouth with his hand then struggled to hold it in place. He finally removed it and continued, “Also I’m fortunate that none of those whom I’ve bribed to be silent about my embezzlements have ratted me out. “He covered his mouth with his hand again and was able to keep it in place for a full minute. Finally he pulled it away. “I’m appreciative that the Russians, the North Koreans and the Chinese have all secretly agreed to help with my election using their clandestine election rigging schemes. I’m going to win in a land slide and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop me.” This was followed by gasps and polite-nervous laughter from the audience. He gestured to his assistant. “Did I just say what I thought I said?”
His assistant whispered, “What are you thinking? You confessed your infidelity and you told everyone about the election rigging? You also confessed that you embezzled to the whole country? Are you trying to destroy yourself?”
“I don’t quite know why I said what I did, I just feel compelled to tell the truth and let it all hang out. The citizens of this country have the right to know who they’re getting as a president. Don’t worry, I’m so far ahead in the polls it won’t make any difference.”
“Well stop it, the election is still not over, people are still voting so talk about your plan for job creation.”Senator Snurfdog turned the mike back on and continued his speech. "Ok, my dimwitted campaign chairman wants me to talk about jobs in an effort to get you to forget about what I just confessed to. I would say this is just a joke, but of course it's all true. Job, jobs what can I say about job creation, Oh yea, if you don't have a job it sucks to be you and if you do have a job good for you, you can pay some taxes." The mike was wrestled out of his hands by his campaign manager and the senator was led away from the cameras.
He was confronted by several big spending donors.
He began shaking the men and women’s hands. “We want our money back said a woman in a business suit.”He said, “So you sharks want your money back? It’s not happening. I got your money and I’ve diverted it to an off shore bank account. I’ll be spending it on women, gambling, drugs and booze and there isn’t anything you can do about it.” Unfortunately he did not realize the camera's had followed him.
“We’ll see about that,” said a wealthy business man. “You haven’t been elected yet.”
Snurfdog’s wife walked up and grabbed his arm and dragged him away whispering loudly, “What possessed you to confess to those things? Now get in the game, you’re ruining everything. Tell them it was all a joke.”
He asked, “Why does a president have to have such a shrew as a wife, as soon as I’m elected I’m going to replace you with one of my mistresses.”
She raised her hand to slap him and noticed the camera’s trained on her and forced a smile. She adjusted his hair and lowered her hand. “Honey, you’re such a kidder, the champagne is bringing out your sense of humor.” She then forced a small laugh.
The homeless man returned and said, “Did I not say that today is the end of the world, well at least it is the end of your world. How does it feel to finally tell the truth?
Snurfdog grabbed the homeless man by the lapels and started pummeling him. “You filthy swine, you’ve ruined my life. Now get the hell out of here. You talk of the end of the world, well I’ll show you the end of the world.” He was restrained by a couple staffers and the man was led away.
This tirade along with his confession speech was playing on all the networks again and again which made his polling numbers drop like a bad day on the stock mark. That night he ended up losing in a landslide. There had been the biggest drop in the polls in the history of modern elections. He had gone from being up ten point to losing by twenty-five points. His wife had left him and he was under investigation for election fraud and embezzlement.
Back Story - Ok it is not quite the end of the world, but something is happening then. In the bible in the book of Revelations chapter 8 verse 1 it reads:
And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
I think the opening of the seventh seal would be the beginning of the seventh thousand years. The year 2000. Considering that a day with god is a thousand years to man, half an hour would be 20.833 years or November 2 of the year 2020 or if we use the "about" term then we could surmise the day would be November 3, 2020 'election day in the US'. So the world will end when the new president is elected. Cool!
