Not a Hero

alathiamg:

I love the way he gives examples of how working in retail would be a problem for some Christians. She is not a hero, but a very misguided woman. Hey she has the right to her beliefs, even if they land her in jail for contemp. You have to give her props for staying in jail this long when she can walk out at any time. Me personally, I’d just find a new job that didn’t bother my convictions.

Kim Davis

Well, this post may make some people a bit upset.  That is not my intent.

The more I have heard about this story, the more troubled I have become.  In case you have missed it, Kim Davis is a clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky who, due to her faith in God, feels she is taking a stand for the Lord in not issuing a marriage license to a gay couple.  As of this writing, she was arrested for her refusal.

She is a bit young in her faith and has a bit of a checkered past.  Her past marriages have been held against her by some in the media and social networks…they have been quick to label her a hypocrite.  I very much disagree with that characterization.  All of these issues took place before she found God. I firmly believe she is a new creature in Christ and…

What makes a romance unique?

I found this article very thought provoking. What makes a book unique? I love her answers.

What makes a romance novel unique? It’s a tough question. After all, romances are, by their very nature, predictable. We need to know the couple will unite at the end. We see the same predictability in mysteries. By the end of the book, the murderer must be revealed and (hopefully) punished. So, in this sense, can a romance be unique at all?

We do see a lot of the same romance tropes in today’s fiction, but I think audiences demand them, too. My own shape shifter series is the most popular of my…

I loved this series and you can get all six stories in a set for only $4.99. They are normally $3.99 each so take advantage of this one time offer before it goes away.

Book 1 in the Bayou Stix By Skye Turner

*****Review***** for Alluring Turmoil

After becoming reacquainted on the counter of her shop Lexi realizes that she can’t lose the love of her life again;they have to make it work. Jude doesn’t want to talk about the past, but it continues to haunt them both and neither one is prepared for the moment when it all comes back into their lives. Lexi will do anything to keep him, but is Jude willing to forgive her? I enjoyed this book and have already started the next one it was so much fun to follow these characters through the problems many couples face over time. Awesomely written and will definitely hook you into the story

Book 2 in the Bayou Stix By Skye Turner

*****Review***** for Alluring Seduction

I loved this explosive book about Jessie and Blue. From the beginning these two try to be have the last word to hide their true feelings from each other. A chance encounter in an leaves them both hungering for more, but first they have to work through their issues surrounding who they are as people. Sparks fly as each one is only willing to bend just a little to accommodate the other. After slamming the door on their relationship, Jessie has to chase Blue across the country to show her where is true affections really lie. Can he give up the crowds of women throwing themselves at his feet for a woman who will be his forever?

I couldn’t put it down. I loved these two characters and the way they reacted to each other.

Book 2.5 in the Bayou Stix By Skye Turner

****Review**** for Alluring Ties

I have devoured this series and this novella set in the middle was a nice way to give us the background on two of our favorite characters. Brandi and Erik.

Brandi: met the Stix after knowing Lexi for many years, but she met her true love through a very gorgeously gay Erik. Micah and Brandi got through a breakup and have to work out the differences in their backgrounds before they can be certain they will be a happily ever after couple.

Erik: Was certain he had met the man of his dreams and had become comfortable with being openly gay, his other half was only gay while at school. Erik has to deal with what his future holds.

This was a great book, I really wished that Brandi and Erik could have had their very own because they are so awesome themselves. I loved that we did get to see where they had been and who they became as their stories continue with the rest of the Stix crew.

Book 3 in the Bayou Stix By Skye Turner

*****Review***** For Alluring Temptation

Liam had played around with women for years, but when he finds himself suddenly babysitting his band mate’s little sister, all hell breaks loose when she continues to walk in on him and his ladies.

Clove has loved Liam forever and when he left all those years ago, he broke her heart. Now she has to put up with the revolving chorus of women through her brother’s home where she is staying.

A mishaps brings them together, but can they work through the past issues to become a couple?

When Liam almost loses Clove to a medical emergency, he is frantic. Not even being his friends little sister will keep Clove from taking center place in his life, but can Clove accept she is really the only one Liam loves?

Book 4 in the Bayou Stix By Skye Turner

*****Review***** for Alluring Infatuation

Dade’s story was a little different than his other band members because Rayne has no idea how famous he is back home. They meet on vacation and the moment they see each other, it’s an instant attraction. Spending 8 days together, Dade is called home because his sister is in the hospital. Dropping everything, he remembers to let Rayne know he is leaving when he realizes he has no way to contact her and the name she gave is not at the hotel. Miffed he heads home to take care of his emergency.

Rayne feels betrayed that the one time she has a fling, the guy stands her up just when they were starting something real. When she runs into Dade at a celebrity event and finds out who he is, she is not certain she can open her heart to being hurt again.

Dade has always been the responsible one, can he focus on his own happiness for a chance at love?

This story was different then the others and I love variety. The way each member of the band grows up from being a wild rock stars into grownups ready for a relationship. Awesome Read!!

Book 5 in the Bayou Stix By Skye Turner

*****Review***** for Alluring Surrender

Cruz’s story was the most intriguing of the series because other than a comment here or there, he really doesn’t give details about who he is until his story. Tiffany meets him at a band member’s house when there is an emergency because of her job as an EMS. Certain that there is more to the story, she becomes friends and waits months for him to make a move. Tired of waiting, she leaves him with two options: take what she is offering or walk away. Moving ahead with a relationship, it is filled with his self doubt over his past and his origins. Tiffany continues to shower him with love and even after danger comes close to breaking them up forever, she gives it one more shot. Can Cruz overcome all of his personal guilt for something he didn’t do, in time to keep the woman he loves the most?

This was the perfect ending to the series. I loved it!!!

SYNOPSIS

Witchcraft.

Reincarnation.

True love.

These are the things of legend. Unexplained, some even say impossible, but nonetheless prevalent in stories and tales from all cultures and in every land from the beginning of time. What if there is something to it? What if there is an explanation behind the mysteries and bedtime stories? Something beyond words?

SALEM, MASSACHUSETTES 1692

She was taken from him in the cruelest way… condemned, sentenced and punished out of fear of the unknown. How is he supposed to live without her? How can he go on knowing that in this life, by the natural order of things, they will never be together? There’s only one thing to do… only one option that will bring them together again.

SALEM , MASSACHUSETTES TODAY

Amelia is taken on a weekend excursion with her best girlfriends to let loose, relax and have a little fun. What harm is there in a little vacation? It’s not like the legends, the haunted history of the place can scare them away. It’s all harmless fun.

Or so she thought.

Something seems familiar about the town. The trees, the winds, the feel of everything. Her ever present nightmares have become more intense within the limits of the old historical setting. She’s prepared to write off the whole trip as nothing more than a case of her mind running away with the sensationalized magic here. When she meets a handsome stranger who’s eager to know her in a way no one else can, she begins to think there may be something more to this place, something more to him.

Will has been waiting, biding his time, and praying that she’ll come back. He’s broken the natural order of things to possibly find her again, weaving their way through the years until they can be together again. He knows he may never find her, but he can’t risk not trying. This place calls to her, just as it did to him. It will bring her back home. It will bring her back to him.

What’s 300 years when it comes to true love? He’s prepared to wait an eternity if he has to, just to see her, hold her, kiss her again.. to make her remember what was stolen from them so long ago. To make her remember who she is, the power she possesses and the love they swore to each other. If you’d like to purchase My Soul to Wake, feel free to grab your copy here: LINK GOES HERE

My life as an author!!

Creative Writing Concept With Pencils, Coffee Cup, Notepad and Crumpled Paper on Table, Top View.

Creative Writing Concept With Pencils, Coffee Cup, Notepad and Crumpled Paper on Table, Top View.

It’s been a few weeks, but every time I tried to work on anything, but finishing my current story, I couldn’t. Writer’s block of a different kind, writer’s blog. I finally got the story finish. I squeezed all of the emotions and thoughts my characters needed to sayout. Thankfully those characters are only finished for now.

That is the joy of being an author, yes I can finally call myself an author, I can write about what I want to when I want to. This is so exciting to be able to see the things you dream and think about on paper in a printed book form. People have started adding it to my lists of accomplishments and it kind of freaks me out. I start thinking, “Who me?” as I look over my should to see this person that wrote an amazing book is. So I’m claiming it. I AM AN AUTHOR.

No the masses haven’t run out to buy my book, (although if you want to I certainly won’t stop you.) You know how there is that one thing you always wanted to do, the top of your bucket list? Well that is what writing…wait not just writing, but publishing a book means for me.

I wanted to write stories shortly after I started reading, but what I didn’t know was that it would take a tragic event to make it a reality. I started several times to write two different stories and neither one have made it into books. I finally went with a world I know about, a sales lady who has adventures. I had to write because life is too short to wait until retirement to start living. I want to live life as it happens and wait for that perfect moment to show up. I could spend my whole life waiting for it, instead I worked for it and made it a reality.

I have always enjoyed the way I could lose myself in a story and then come up with a new story where I could be the lead character, my own twist on what I read. Now will my books have parts where I seem like I am the lead character? No, because when I developed those ideas it was so I could get out of my own world and be transformed into another. I will have moments when my humor shows up or some of my quirks, but I am not the characters of the books I write.

To make a story happen though I have to go sit in my office and block out all distractions. Especially facebook which I allow my self to enjoy after I hit my goal then I get a break. I have to work when the children and my hubby are in bed and the world is quiet. It takes a certain mindset to work on a story. If someone writes a horrible review or if they don’t like a character, then there is some part of a writer that hears the voices speaking as they go to craft their new work and it distracts them. The same goes when we get a great review or a rave on our characters. Suddenly the words flow and you need to write, right that moment.

Just like any type of job, it takes work and planning, many hours of making sure it comes out when it is supposed to. So if you wonder why there are hunks of my hair missing or I growl when you text me during crunch time, you’ll know it just means I’m creating something good and you can take the journey into my new world shortly.

Welcome to my life as an author!!

Easter and the Easter Plays.

pizap.com14282961007661So many have asked me why I won’t attend an Easter Play or watch “Passion” type movies. Here is my answer about to that question. I don’t like to see Jesus tortured. Pretty unusual from my normal viewing preferences which include numerous crime shows and the Walking Dead series.

So here is the problem, if you were good friends or related to someone would you be able to watch their crucifixion or the beatings that occurred before hand? Of course not. Most actors that are interviewed have a very different perspective after they have played the part of Jesus. They have an understanding of what it took to be innocent and then killed in such a public way. I don’t like to see anyone abused, tortured or murdered, but for meit goes far beyond those ideas. I see it that Jesus took my place in that spot because he loved me. Now I know there is no way that I could have done what he did and when I think about that I don’t like to see it happen to him. There is no way to describe the amount of love that his act on that cross displays to those who want a relationship with him.How many of us can say that someone waswilling to die in our place? Even when they don’t really like us were they just doing their job? It’s really no big deal, right?I think it is apretty amazing and heroic thing to do, past, present or future.

Soldiers have problems when one of their unit or team takes a life altering bullet for them. Sometimes they can’t see what their teammate was saving them for because they feel worthless andthat they have nothing to contribute to those around them.

I love what Jesus did for me and I will try not to take his sacrifice and love for granted. I will help those around me as often as possible. He gave me a chance to live a full life here on earth, so whether that is short or long it’s all in how I live it.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t celebrate Easter or agree with my views, what matters is how you view your life. So how are you living your life? What kind of a difference will you make in the lives of those around you?

Women’s Day?? A Whole just for Women?? Really??

adies pink high heel stiletto shoes and rosesSo it’s International Women’s Day. I’ve seen articles and tweets about it for most of the day, but there seems to be some confusion as to what this day is really about.

Here goes: It is about celebrating Women and their freedom that comes with equality. This year’s theme is Make It Happen.

My personal life motto has always been…you have an idea? How can we make it happen? If you don’t believe me ask my husband about when he mentioned he might like to move to Corpus Christi. We were living there less than two months later. Or when he decided that he wanted to go to college and get his degree, after dropping my Dr. Pepper on the floor, we got him enrolled and four years later he graduated. So when I say I willmake it happen that is what I intend to do.

Most people’s biggest misconception about this day is that we are just celebrating women. Now don’t get me wrong, I am proud to be a woman. It’s not like I don’t know that I am a woman. We celebrateseveral holidays that are reminders to honor people that have done great things. There is no need for everyone to wonder exactly whatthose holidays are celebrating. So why do I feelIneed a day for people toremind me that I am a woman? Isn’t that what Mother’s Day is for?

Everyone doesn’t know that some or many (Not all or even most womenbecause there are quite a few strong role models out there.)women have no choices or options available to them. While this day might be about equality in the work place for most, it is really about freedom to me. Freedom to be able to walk down the street safely without being accosted or taunted. Freedom to be able to sleep at night without someone coming into or being inyour home threating your life or well being. Freedom to make decisions that willchangeyour life.

For me this day is about those that arevictims past, present or future. There are many strong women out there are that continually told that they are worthless or not able to be something better. There are those that tell them, they can’t live their dreamsor grow to be the role models that we all aspire to become. This day is to remind women everywhere that they can make it happen. So foreveryone that has beenignored orunheard, this day is for you. I hope and believe that you will have the courage to stand up to those that tell you, you can’t or try to crush your dream. Take your freedoms and make it happenso that we can change the future.I hope that in the future therewill be fewer womenwhothat don’t know what it means to be truly free.

So encourage the women, teens and girls around you that they are special, worthy and needed for our world to become a better place for all of us to live in.

Should you read??? The Controversy!!!

pizap.com14240667084941So many people have lots of opinions about the movie and the books of 50 Shades of Grey and I plan to give you my take on this popular series of books. If you are under the age of 18 stop reading now…

I have been amazed at the range of views about this idea and the amount of venom thrown out there from everyone. So I would like to address some issues that I feel have been grossly overthought.

#1 The Rape of Anastasia Steel

Now for those that have had a consensual relationship with a partner there must always be trust. When the scene at her apartment happens and everyone cries SHE SAID NO so it must be rape is not exactly true. She said the words, yes. Now would the outcry have been as great or would anyone have even noticed this about 10 years ago? No, because in the heat of the moment, we all get to that point where we could say “no” or “don’t” which is why there are safe words that are outlined between them. At this point in the story she knows what words to use if she needed him to stop. That said, no should mean no. When you decide on what your “word” will be you have to trust that your partner will take that into consideration and stop when you use it.

Before you start saying that I am advocating abuse or teaching that it is okay, let me assure you that it is not okay to have an abusive relationship. My first book is about the very subject of spousal abuse. I have seen it in action many times with friends and worked to help them out of the situations they were involved in. More on this in a later point.

#2 Jose did not attempt to rapeAna. He simply tried to give her a drunken kiss. He didn’t even try to take her clothes off or try to pull her to the bushes to get to second or third base. Good grief! We have all had a crush on someone that we wanted to like us back and it didn’t happen. Give the poor guy a break.

#3 Christian and his controlling nature have been the subject of much controversy.

A: Only recently have the terms stalker been used and taken seriously. If the world continues to move in this direction, where anytime someone does a background check or tries to find out more about someone they would like to date, they are automatically taken for a stalker, we will have far fewer relationships. Really can you tell me that no one has ever looked up a new friend on Facebook or Twitter to see who and what they are about?Come on people, we also know that the rich and powerful can do just about any kind phone or address searches whenever they want.

B: His controlling issues…these come from his childhood. There are many people in the world that do not like to lose control of their situation because something happened in the past where they were unable to control things and bad things happened. We know that Christian was the child of an addict and had been abused before the age of four. Really all people have issues that they need to overcome and compensate for things in our pasts some are more serious than others. I am not advocating that you get in a relationship with someone that has issues just so that you can change them or help them work through it. We can’t help who we fall in love with and you just have to take them for who they are on the inside. Does that mean you should stay in an abusive relationship so that you can help them? NO!!! Don’t go looking for bad boys to fix up. Does that mean that you could find out several months into a relationship that he is deathly scared of fires and reacts to that from a past problem so you should leave him? Again, NO. You will not know everything about someone when you first get with them. Christian was very upfront about what he enjoyed and who he was. Ana could have been months or years into the relationship before the playroom had come up and then she would have been too vested to want to leave.

#4 They have sex all the time. Seriously, why is that a problem? When a relationship is new, the sex is hot and heavy. She was a virgin and she won the lottery to find an experienced guy that was willing to give her pleasure on the first time out. Lots of discovery time is needed once you get started. I mean have we ever heard of a romance where the guy was like, “Oh wait I think we should only have sex once a day”.Not really. This is what most people call the honeymoon phase.

#5 The Red Room of Pain. This is what made this series so completely popular. Most of America is familiar with vanilla sex. Do you realize thatsome married women don’t even know what the orgasm feels like? Ladies have heard about it and some think that they have had one, but there are quite a few women out that have never experienced this. (There are many that have as well, only you would know right?) So the idea of a BDSM relationshipis very foreign to most people. For this book to walk you through a submissive’s contract was like saying let me show you the secret CIA headquarters and how we work, people were fascinated. The idea that this was talked about so freely was intriguing to those outside of the lifestyle. Let me clarify for those that are wondering how I would know anything about this issue, I am not in this lifestyle, but Iknow some that do live it and have research it because I was curious. While I have more of a dominatepersonality; I could never see myself as a submissive. There are people that enjoy having all of theirdecision made for them. Don’t knock something until you have tried it.

#5 Writing and Grammar. Yes, this book could have been edited better and was not the most smooth flowing story. I made it through all three books and tilted my head a few times atthe wording, but I was still able to complete the story and understand what the author was trying to say.

So this is my own personal opinion and whether or not you agree that is perfectly okay with me. Side note, this set of books was only about a six out of ten as far as the steaminess is concerned. If you would like a set of books that will knock your socks off let me know and I will hook you up with their titles.
