The Book is Not Short

I always smile when I read about someone thinking my newest release was too short or shorter than the books used to be in the series world. It’s funny to me because the opposite is true. The newer books are much longer than the earlier ones (example: Act of Surveillance is nearly 30k words LONGER than Act of Mercy). This is also why they take me longer to write than they used to. It warms my heart to know that readers are enjoying the books so much that they feel like blazing fast reads. That’s a GOOD thing. It means readers have gotten lost in the world I created and were fully immersed in the story. Let’s be honest, with the way the past two years have been for us all, we could all use an escape from reality.

Rurik: Russian Brown Bear Interesting Tidbits

In my upcoming release Act of Surveillance, Rurik (the main character) is a Russian Were-Bear. But what do you know about these gorgeous creatures??

[image error] Fun Facts

Eurasian Brown Bears are the most common brown bears and you can find them in the Siberian forest. Other species of brown bear are the Ussuri Brown Bear, Kamchatka and Russian Polar Bear. The bear is a symbol of Russia.

Russian brown bears are carnivores, but they only eat around 10-15% of prey! They supplement the rest of their diet with vegetation, bugs, insects and berries etc.

Did you know?

These and other wonderful tidbits of information about Russian bears can be found at the following link!

Review: The Tinderbox: Soldier of Indira by Lou Diamond Phillips

5 Stars–★★★★★

If you’re a fan of sci-fiction YA you’re going to love this entertaining and unique retelling of a Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Tinderbox. TinderboxLDP

The story is fast-paced which I appreciated because I’m known to put a book down that drags and then forget to pick it up again. That wasn’t the case at all here. I found I couldn’t put The Tinderbox down. I was glued to my e-reader from the moment I opened it until the very end.

Mr. Phillips brought a level of wit, charm, detail, and relatability to the characters that brought them to life for me. He’s secured his place on my auto-buy list and I can’t wait to read his next book.

The Tinderbox is currently part of Kindle Unlimited and can be found here.

Marketing Funnels

I’m sure by now you’ve all heard about the process in which cattle goes to market. How you start them off in a large area and corral them through a narrowing stretch to where you want them to be. Marketing funnels are much the same way. NO, I’m not calling readers or buyers cattle, I’m explaining in a way I think a number of people might follow.

At the start of your marketing funnel will be your large area. Where the masses gather. Each step of the process from there is narrowing the passageway to the end goal—which should be you. Each step you have your readers take should be one more step toward you and your platform. What does that mean? Your website and your newsletter.

Remember what works for one author may not work for another so don’t be discouraged if something works. Try something else. Be innovative and don’t be afraid to ask your readers what brought them to you, how they found you, and what they like about your books. This will help you with your marketing down the road.

Good luck!
