Batman: Gotham Knight
The best way to describe this film is that it is several short films in one. Much like the Animatrix, Gotham Knight tells six different, yet connected, stories set in the Nolan Batman universe just after Batman Begins. While the animation styles are varied and most harkening back to old anime, they are all quite good and help tell the story they are used in. For example, the first story is told from the points of view of several children and their run-in with Batman. The exaggerated art style...

American Horror Story Coven Ep. 13 The Seven Wonders
Well, well, well. I can’t say that I was really looking forward to this episode. I felt like the ‘7 wonders’ had been downplayed as of late and the crowning of the new supreme was an afterthought that had to be tied up. I mean we lost several of my favorite characters in the previous episode so I really had no one to root for.
The first half of this episode was actually fun. The tests for the seven wonders were portrayed in a fun way and yet everyone got to have their personality shine through...

American Horror Story Coven Ep. 12 Hell on Earth
Twelve episodes in and we are still no closer to figuring out who the next supreme is going to be. This show has gone to great lengths to toy with us. On this episode Queenie gets some solo time to shine and show off some new powers. This also leads to the end of both Delphine and Laveau. Glad to see Papa Legba back for another episode. I really liked this character and the way the actor portrayed him. I am sad to see two of my favorite characters go, though. Kathy Bates proves again in this...

American Horror Story Coven Ep. 11 Protect the Coven
Poor Nan. I will actually miss her. She wasn’t my favorite character but she did keep some semblance of morality around the house. Well, sort of. She provided an interesting dynamic that is now going to be missed. I would have loved to have her vying for the supreme spot. Heck, if she had been alive she could have heard Misty and had her rescued during the funeral. But if she were alive there wouldn’t have been a funeral. We do get the return of Queenie and Delphine though. Not a huge surpri...

American Horror Story Coven Ep. 10 The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks
There’s a lot of stuff happening this time around. We get the fallout to Hank’s attack on Laveau’s shop. Marie Laveau is now living in the house and “new best friends” with Fiona. It was pretty funny the way Laveau matter-of-fact told her involvement in Hank’s plot. Cordelia as expected can’t handle the truth and Fiona tells her she is useless and of no help. The relationship between Fiona and Cordelia is very bipolar. One minute Fiona is happy to have her daughter at her side and the next sh...

American Horror Story Coven Ep. 09 Head
Wow. This episode was non-stop go. I was literally on the edge of my chair the entire time. If it’s possible Delphine is more awesome as just a head. Kathy Bates is unreal in this role. I am enjoying her so much. I am glad Queenie didn’t burn her. Speaking of Queenie, is she dead? We never saw her power kill her before but it appeared that she died when she killed the witch hunter. I guess the gunshot she took to the gut could have killed her but we just don’t know. Laveau showing up at the c...

American Horror Story Coven Ep. 08 The Sacred Taking
This show continues to get better with each episode. This has to be my favorite Queenie performance to date. The before credits scene was in your face and scary. Gabourey Sidibe has been passable so far this season but in this episode she brought her ‘A’ game. The way she talked to the girls from the coven and then took out that dude’s heart was raw and powerful. Then to have the same character be a bit vulnerable later in a scene with Delphine was great. She really showed her range this time...

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special: The Day of the Doctor
Awesome. Simply Awesome. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to this episode. I know that I personally had been chomping at the bit to see this since the final episode of Series 7 aired. Also like myself, I think most of the Who fans were mostly interested in seeing the 10th and 11th Doctors interacting together and with John Hurt’s Warrior. I can’t call him ‘War Doctor’ because that seems a contradiction to me. How can he have regenerated into a warrior to do the things that must be d...

American Horror Story: Coven Ep. 07 The Dead
First of all, everyone killed it this episode but I have to tip my hat to Kathy Bates. The look of horror and disbelief on her face when she realizes that Queenie betrayed her was gut wrenching. She looked as if she was going to cry and I think that I could have. Even knowing that it was going to happen I still felt her pain and misery in that scene. That comes from the power and gravitas that she carries in a scene. Queenie needs to take notes.
I loved this episode so much more than the last...

American Horror Story: Coven Ep. 06 The Axeman Cometh
I loved the use of music in this episode. From the jazz accompanies the axeman to the Stevie Nicks at Misty’s, it all made the scenes come alive for me. I’m not sure the axeman was needed other than a means for the girls to find Madison. So if we can just bring everyone back from the dead then there’s no need to worry, right?
So they brought back Madison back, stowed Kyle away, Cordelia moved back in, and none of them were aware of the others actions? I know it’s a big house but really?
The...
