Movin’ On Up!

4ScribeNewLogo

Hello dear readers!

The rumors are not true. I did not fall off the face of the Earth. I’m still here, and a little bit smarter than I was before. I have spent the last couple of months focused on school and working on my brand. I am (as of this writing) only four days away from finishing my last course for my Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. I’m super excited and ready to put it to use in the real world.

To that end, I have been busy revamping and sprucing up...

Writer’s Conference Postponed

orange gold flyer (3)

A few weeks ago, I wrote about a new writer’s conference coming to central Florida. Specifically to my hometown of Avon Park at the local college, South Florida State College. A first for our area and a wonderful opportunity for writers, the conference has been postponed until at least the end of 2015. While an exact date has yet to be determined, this is something that I am still passionate about and I will be talking about it again when I more details on the new date. I don’t have any concr...

The Interview

image

Everyone knows about all the hype around this movie, not the least of which is the Sony hacking and the threats from the hackers. So, through all of this, The Interview was released on Youtube in December as well as select theaters. Now it is on Netflix, where I was able to watch it. With all of the press it got and the intentional and unintentional marketing, there was a big expectation for this film to be hilarious and well worth all the hubbub. I finished watching The Interview and at firs...

Florida residents take note: South Florida State College in Avon Park, FL will be hosting its first ever writers conference on February 27, 2015. There will be workshops as well as industry professionals to talk about the business and craft of writing. I will post full lineup of talent as soon as I have it, but I can tell you that one of those will be… ME! World of Warcraft: Death Knight

cover1

Written by Dan Jolley and drawn by Rocio Zucchi, this graphic novel/manga is one of the class specific titles from Blizzard and TokyoPop. I find this title an interesting format. It is done in the size and art style of a manga, but its read left to right like a traditional graphic novel, where a manga is read right to left. It is based on the Death Knight class from the World of Warcraft online game. Blizzard, the publisher of the online game, had several of these written to coincide with...

Rock Star Rising

Rock Star Rising Cover

I read a lot. many of you probably already know this. So it’s no exaggeration to say that I see quite a few books that are not worth talking about. But when I find one that is, I have to talk about it to anyone who will listen. Rock Star Rising, by author Paul Kyriazi, is one of those titles. A mix of horror, thriller, and supernatural fantasy, RSR dug its claws into me and dragged me along for what was an incredible ride. Following the stories of Allan and Shane, our primary protagonists, wa...

Adora Levin and Songs for 5-Year-Olds

Adora Levin Book

Today I was introduced to an adorable 5-year-old named Adora. She, along with a lot of help from her father, has published her first book, Songs For 5-Year-Olds. This book is a collection of what they call songs, meant for kids her age, or any adult who loves being young again. While there is no music, as of yet, to sing them to, they still work as a collection of silly poems ranging from what mommy is doing to what she eats during the day. They are all silly, fun, and a reminder of how adora...

Leprechaun: Origins

Leprechaun Origins

I went into this film with little expectation and almost no information on what I would be getting into. To be honest, when I heard that WWE’s Hornswoggle was supposed to be the star, I just figured he would be playing the Warwick Davis role. Well, spoiler alert, he doesn’t. Actually, he does play the titular character, but this leprechaun does not speak and does not look very human. This take has our evil guy as more of a monster than a little man with quips and one-liners. This film is play...

Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King (1983)

959753

*Previously published on Dragun’s Library*

This short novel, written in 1983, tells us the tale of a werewolf terrorizing the small Maine town of Tarkers Mills. The werewolf kills someone every month during the full moon. Each month plays out like its own little story but all together they give us a chronological telling of events. As each piece is only concerned with that months full moon, we don’t get to know anything in between. It is an interesting way to tell the story and I think it work...

Kenobi by John Jackson Miller (2013)

Swkenobi

*Previously published on Dragun’s Library*

Two thoughts immediately came to mind when I finished John Jackson Miller’s Kenobi. The first being that I had read a Star Wars western, and the second being that I was really sad. It has been thrown around that this book is a western, and it really is. The settlers on Tatooine that Kenobi interacts with and helps are much like a group of settlers in the old west trying to make something of the harsh land around them. Even the Tuskan Raiders are like...
