The Holiday Point Series, Explained

Yes, it’s confusing!

Two Series in One

My Holiday Point books are part of two series at the same time: the multi-author , and my own Holiday Point series.

K-9 Companions books are written by various Love Inspired authors, and they all feature working dogs. When The Veteran’s Valentine Helper comes out in January 2025, it will be the 29th book in the series. Fun fact: as of right now, I’ve written more K-9 Companions books than any other Love In...

A Companion for His Son is on shelves now!

A Companion for His Son is on shelves now, and I’m very thankful for all the positive notes and messages I’ve received. People are enjoying the way a free-spirited teacher and a strait-laced city businessman come together to help Freddie, his autistic son. Of course, readers love Scooby, young Freddie’s lovable service dog.

Here’s what Goodreads reviewer BookAddict had to say:

This gifted storyteller won me over with the first book of hers I read, and I’ve been a faithful fan ever since. It’s ...

The True Story behind Pokey the Greyhound

fawn-colored greyhound dog sleeping
Several readers have asked me how I choose the breed and personality of the dogs in my K-9 Companions books. In most cases, I model the dog on an animal I’ve met or even owned.  Ziggy, the Goldendoodle in Cottage at the Beach, is modelled after my goldendoodle, Nash. I’ve cast Nash’s friend Nemo, another doodle, as the emotional support dog in my work in progress.

The story for A Companion for Christmas’s dog is from my life, too. Yes, I did own a retired racing greyhound, all too briefly. Her ...

The fifty-something character who took over my latest book

I almost always feature a third character in my longer romances. In addition to the male and female lead, there’s a third voice with a different, though related story.

In The Beach Reads Bookshop, we have Luis, the third of the Hometown Brothers, a young billionaire who suddenly learns he’s a father. We have Deena, the child’s caregiver who reluctantly comes with Luis to Teaberry Island to run The Beach Reads Bookshop.

The third character, Carol Fisher, is a woman in her fifties who was so much...

The Bluebird Bakery is a bestseller!

Book, The Bluebird Bakery, with fireworks

I’m super excited to announce that The Bluebird Bakery hit the Publishers Weekly bestseller list for two weeks in a row, climbing from number #19 to #14 on the mass market paperback list. Thank you so much, everyone who bought the book, reviewed it, or helped spread the word. This story of two sisters and the men who love them is close to my heart, and I appreciate your enthusiasm for it more than I can say.

If you haven’t purchased your copy yet, it’s available at your local Barnes and Noble, ...

Good Surprises

The Bluebird Bakery features two good surprises…

Cody, the hero of The Bluebird Bakery, is focused on pulling his life back together after PTSD has forced an end to his military career. He has his hands full with finding a job and a place to live, learning to sleep through the night, and keeping his distance from his way-too-appealing boss at the bakery. And then he gets a surprise: two much-younger siblings he didn’t even know he had are dumped on him in an unexpected and definite way.

As a...

First Kiss at Christmas – on sale this month

m/f couple embracing while st bernard dog romps beside them. Background has a sailboat with Christmas lights

My favorite Christmas novel is on sale at all major retailers! The official sale is a $1.99 price on the ebook, but I am seeing some terrific prices on paperbacks, too, at Amazon and Target. If you haven’t read it yet, why not treat yourself?

Story Summary
Not many women still have “first kiss” on their Christmas list, but somehow Kayla Harris is permanently in the friend zone with men. So when veteran Tony DeNunzio shows up in her preschool classroom with his nephew, Jax, her focus is solely o...

The Nerdy Story behind The Forever Farmhouse

Some of you have asked me where I got the idea for The Forever Farmhouse.True confession time: I was a very geeky child. Some kids love to play outside and have to be forced to come in and do their homework. I loved to read and had to be forced outside to play. That’s me with a week’s worth of library books!

Lee as a kid with a large stack of library books

My nerdy personality carried forward into adulthood, and I became a professor. For years I was surrounded by studious. scholarly people, and I loved it!

Ryan, the hero of The Forever Farmho...

Should You Judge a Book by its Cover?

I have to admit that I was VERY doubtful about this cover when I first saw it. Jason, the hero, is supposed to be an enormous, brawny veteran, almost scary looking. Here’s a passage where he’s described:

Missy looked behind Ashley. “Who’s that?”

Ashley glanced back and realized that Jason still stood on the sidelines, waiting for her to be finished with her conversation. Titan stood beside him. And was Jason leaning on the dog a little?

Yikes. For a minute, she’d forgotten about him. She...
