Zootopia
Who's seen it? We went this weekend! Me being the Disney lover that I am, I enjoyed it! I think it held elements that made in enjoyable for all ages. In fact, there was one part in particular that made my daughter jump, and even joked that she was going to have nightmares! Ha!

Devour or Savor?
Once I am sucked into a book I find that I devour it within a few days to a week at most, but I know that some like to savor it to prolong the euphoria that a good book brings.
So what is it for you?

Short and sweet, and to the point, just the way it should be!

Shadow Hunters
Recently, the Shadow Hunters series hit the prime time line up. I watched the commercials weighing on weather I wanted to watch this new series based on the books. I haven't read the books either, and to be honest, when it comes to TV shows that are made from books, they rarely match up, in my opinion.
Then along comes an article about the author of said books, a not so flattering one at that, one spouting bullying, plagiarism, etc... Now I don't know if any of those things are true. But I will say, it had me curious. So I decided to take the plunge and watch the shows to see what the fuss was about.
I will say, I do like the show. I think it's got a very good thing going for it. Though I will say some of the acting is a bit stilted or forced at times, but I'm sure as time goes on the cast will find their rhythm and it will become more seamless as time goes on.
I love Katherine McNamara as Clary. I think she was the perfect person to play that role. In fact her, and Dominic Sherwod as Jace are what have made the series so far for me.
Without giving too much away for those who haven't watched, have you taken up watching yet? What do you think about it?

Early morning snack attack
I'm startled awake by a noise, I wait and listen in my sleepy stupor. Nothing. I roll over. Then I hear my youngest tossing around in his bed. I think okay I must have heard him, no big deal. I try to go back to sleep. Five minutes later I hear noises again, this time from the kitchen. I wait to see if they will stop. They don't. I get up and creep into the kitchen, my heart pounding thinking someone is in the house that shouldn't be, as anyone does when there are noises in the middle of the night. I turn the corner, and there I find a head inside my daughters birthday cake box. Thinking I'm looking at my oldest because, well he's taller than the counter. I say "We do not eat cake at 5 o'clock in the morning!" in a stern mom voice. My youngest jumps and bursts into tears. He was standing on a chair. Oops. I scared the living day lights out of him and not because he thought he was in trouble, but because he was in the dark in the middle of the night. Once I was able to calm him down, I asked him why were you getting cake in the middle of the night? He says, "I was hung-we." I chuckled to myself, grabbing him a handful of blueberries and put him back to bed. When he woke up for the morning, he hadn't forgotten about that cake. My oldest came to me with a plate full of cake, my youngest trailing behind bawling. "He is trying to have cake for breakfast mom." This was the piece had cut for himself.
Yes it's huge. One thing I love about my youngest is his determination. It will be a quality that will serve him well. He did get that piece of cake, by the way, after he had a good breakfast, and lunch, but only half of it (and he didn't even finish that). Hope you have a great Monday, and that you can get your cake and eat it too! CM

What do you find the time??
It's the question I get asked the most. I feel like I have answered this over and over. (No I don't mind, because I myself sometimes wonder how I do it!)
I think many are stumped by the prospect of writing, editing, and publishing a novel, all the while managing a household filled with three very busy (and messy might I add) kids. I certainly don't blame them, it isn't easy. But honestly, it isn't much different than being a work at home parent and I know there are many of those out there.
Some may see the kids as a distraction, (and they would be right) but they are also my motivation. They motivate me to become bigger than this stay at home mom thing, while still being their for them every step of the way as they grow into the awesome little people they are meant to be. I hope that my struggles and trials through the process will one day be inspiring to them to go for things that they may think they can't do. I can already see small glimpses of pride in their eyes when they talk about my books, and that little glimmer in there pushes me to keep going when the dishes are piling up and I still have to finish editing this chapter!
By writing this I hope to inspire another stay at home mom or stay at home dad to push through and do it, even if it's not for their kids, but just for themselves. Something to give themselves purpose again. We sometimes get lost in all things kids and forget who we are, it's important to step out of that and break free of that, and yes it can be done while still being that amazingly awesome parent you are!
And just to break it down for you, we don't live a quiet at home life, we are busy!
Each week our normal activities include:
4 hours of dance x 1 kid1 hour of Karate x 2 kidsTNT 1 hr 45 min x 1 kidCubbies 1 hr 45 min x 1 kidSparkies 1 hr 45 min x 1 (you'd think these were at the same time but only two are)That equals 10 hours and 15 minutes.... Not counting school. So you don't have to be a monk to make writing happen.
Good luck and happy writing!

SO that explains it...
The other day I happened to be on Facebook perusing posts when I found this post (seriously read it! I bet a few of your friends are like this..maybe you are too!) a friend had shared. And I couldn't help but think, Has someone been watching me?? *eyes dart around*
This. Is. Me.
My name is C.M. Boers and I am an Introvert.
Hi C.M.
No, it's really not that big of a deal, but it certainly explains a few things. Here's a few...
-In any fight or argument, I write letters to whoever I'm fighting with. It's my way of telling my side or even apologizing, no I'm not too big to apologize face to face, it just comes out so much better when I write it.
-Sometimes when it comes to my weekly activities I think, "Can I just stay home?" :)
-Whenever it's time to throw a party, my husband cringes... Yes he does. I go into full on crazy planning mode and I don't settle down till it's done, then I can breath again. And of course I always say "I think that went well." I know he must shoot daggers with his eyes when I say that, but I choose not to look ;) (Really I'm not that hard to live with haha)
Do you empathize? Which ones are completely fitting for you? Which ones aren't?

The good, the bad and the ugly...
Now that the new year has begun, I have decided to reflect on 2015. There was a lot of ups and down as there are in anyone's lives, but there were a few things that were really good and a few that were really heartbreaking.
Let's start with the bad...because let's face it, the bad is easier once it's over with.
In 2015, I lost my 9 year old buddy Chopper...
It's still breaking my heart to look at his picture, it gets easier knowing he isn't in pain anymore. But I still miss him every day.
Of course there were countless trips to Urgent Care, as there typically is with kids (Have I mentioned I have two boys?), between ear infections and injuries this one stands out.... When my youngest knocked a cast iron skillet down (wasn't hot) onto his toe...It was terrible, but thankfully nothing was broken. And his nail is almost completely grown back now.
My daughter had her first on stage mess up, where she didn't land her back walkover and instead fell over, she was heartbroken and it took some time for her to get over it. She took it a lot harder than I would have expected and of course I cringed for her, and of course we took her out to dinner to celebrate her show in general. After a lot of reassurance she is finally able to giggle a little about it.
Sickness,...sickness....sickness...this year was a sick one for me. I was sick much of this year, (nothing serious, just colds and the like.)
I am sure I am missing many bad moments but obviously as time goes on the good outweigh the bad and you begin to forget. :)
Now for the good...
We added a new family member:
Bexley is a Great Dane, she's now 4 months old and she is actually reaching the middle of a king sized bed in the photo. :)
My princess was given a solo and will begin competing this month!
I published Divulge!
My husband and I celebrated out 10th wedding anniversary. Yep...10 years!! Amazing how time flies.
I got a new (to me) car! I guess you could call it my Christmas present. I love it!
There were so many more, but I'll stop there for fear of boring you all! haha! ;)
Anyway, what were your highlights? Love to hear them!

New year goals
Each year I set goals for myself rather than make resolutions. I feel like this is more productive and positive and when I look back I can check off what I actually accomplished and what I need to add to my next years goals! So you can see last year's here.
Now, I think I managed to accomplish both goals! So I say last year was a success!
This year my goals are:
1. Finish and publish book three.
It's coming along very nicely, I just have to put on the finishing touches and it's off to the editor. Unfortunately, it takes me a bit longer to finish with my three little helpers ;) So I'm not sure when that will be.
2. Finish another book.
Yep, that's my goal. I have a couple started and one that I think I will run with and it isn't part of the Obscured series!! Do I have you excited? ;) Or maybe I will go ahead with another book in the Obscured series...only time will tell. Can't wait to see where I go with this goal! Can you?
3. I would love to find more time to read. And be read to! Yep, my middle just started reading! I can't wait to unlock new worlds with her as she embarks on this new found talent! :)
4. Of course you can't have goals without wanting to spend more time with family.
5. I want to improve my online presence. Of course that will take some help from you ;)
Here's to the new year!!
