Six

TEN things about yourself.
NINE books you want to read.EIGHT places you want to visit.SEVEN favorite posts from my blog.SIX ways to win my heart.FIVE turn offs. FOUR guilty pleasures.THREE things you want to say to three. TWO recent pictures.ONE confession.

Day Six.
Today is six ways to win my heart. Hm.. this one is going to really make me think!

1. Communication is key! I love to talk. Doesn't matter what it's about and if it's about a book...well that's an awesome conversation!

2. I love when special things are done for me. Like the other day, I came home from a ladies dinner and the dishes were done. Then the hubby arrives with a bag full (two tubs) of Ben and Jerry's Phish food ice cream I have been wanting! It melts my heart!

3. Special notes. I love finding little notes that say sweet nothings on them.

4. Dates. I love to go out. Especially to dinner and a movie. Even better when that movie is Mocking Jay!! (Is anyone as excited as me?)

5. Go shopping with me...Yea...I am kind of addicted to shopping...

6. The last thing I think may make me a little vain, I like compliments. I think everyone has that need for compliments so I guess I'm not alone in that vanity.

Just a little bit about what makes me tick! Do any of mine match yours?

GOAL!!!

When young kids play soccer all they can think about is scoring that precious goal, or having control of the ball. They obsess over it even. Trying to make them see that teamwork is how they get there is a lot more difficult to teach. They may think "If these other kids would just get out of my way I could get there." It takes time and dedication to train their minds otherwise. Losing control of the ball to a teammate is sometimes the end of the world to their little psyches.
Eventually, with practice and patience they learn and that precious goal is sweeter because they did it together.
This concept could also be said about adults could it not?
Relinquishing our hard work to others to rip apart and critique is sometimes as hard for us as it is for a child to relinquish the ball. So in that situation what would you tell your child?
And that precious goal, could it not be the same as rushing to publish out of sheer excitement?
Sometimes it's hard to see things the way they should be seen. Yet it is often easy to see in others especially a child. But when it is all laid out in front of you, a light bulb goes off.
So my advice?
Take the guards down. Trust. Prepare. Practice. And don't bite the person's head off when they hand you a critique of your work. Take it to heart.
Trust me, I'm guilty of this as well. I think we all are just a little bit.

Day Seven.
1. Fessing up. This post was very personal for me and if you have read it you will see why. I think this post will always be special to me.  http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2014/08...

2. Are you Ready? This post is the day that I released my book into the world. I was so excited that I even forgot to include a photo of the book!  http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2014/09...

3. Brutal Honesty. I like this post because it's something I feel very passionate about. I was raised with the phrase "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." And while niceties and critique can go hand in hand, they often don't.  http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2014/01...

4. Book Review: Allegiant. My first official book review! http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2014/11...

5. Mommy? My kids are very special to me and having them along for the ride in my journey means the world to me, this post shows only a glimpse of that. http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2014/11...

6. It's a secret....This post just makes me think back to how scared I was that I would never complete my novel. It's such a huge accomplishment. http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2013/08...

7. New years New goals. I like to see my frame of mind almost a year ago now. We're coming up on that time of year again where we set goals for ourselves for the year. I am happy with what this year brought and am excited to see what next year will bring. http://cmbwrites.blogspot.com/2014/01...

Those are my seven! Let me ask you, What were your favorite posts from me?

A Month of Giving Thanks!

A Month of Giving Thanks

I have decided to participate in A Month of Giving Thanks hosted by Because Reading and Fantasy is more fun! I think this is a great way to enter into the holiday season and to remember all of the blessings in your life.  I have been debating just exactly how I wanted to approach this subject on my blog when this challenge, if you will, fell into my lap! For me, I don't plan to post something I'm thankful for everyday, but at the end of the week I'll do a catch up for the week!
For today, I am thankful for a family that is truly loving and supporting of my kids many activities despite how time consuming that may be at times. So thank you for making our kids feel so loved! They appreciate it more than you know!
And here's to one more day in the weekend!

Last night I searched for my next read after finishing Allegiant. So here is what I came up with.

1. The League of Skull and Bones by M.J. Fletcher who by the way has an amazing way of setting a scene. (This is my next read.)

Book Review- Allegiant

Book Review- Allegiant by Veronica RothThis will be my first *real* book review on my blog. I know I am not the first to review this book. The popularity of this book is undeniable. It is not hard to see why. Veronica Roth has a way of setting the scene and making you feel as though you are there with the characters. Then of course there are the movies that are coming out. This series has been amazing to read.

Likes:*I love Tris's character. I love her strength, I love her determination. Everything about her just screams out to me. *I love the intense action throughout the book that keep you on the edge of your feet. It's amazing how the whole book can make you feel like your adrenaline is pumping.
Dislikes: **SPOILER** If you have not read this book yet STOP here!! Read more »

"Mommy?"

Writing as a stay at home mom has its challenges there is no way around it. Expecting it to be easy would be a fools move. As with everything you do as a parent, there are always interruptions, unexpected bumps in the road, and spilled milk, well lets be honest, not just milk, spilled everything! But just how do you get anything done?

*Spilled water*

Well, it's simple. One. Word. At. A. Time. If I set myself up with a goal of 1000 words per day, I would surely fail. Why? Because my kids have their goals for the day. They have their needs for the day. They have the lessons they look to me to learn. That is my job. My #1 priority. A job I am proud and honored to hold.

One day, that goal of 1000 words per day will seem small and insignificant.

*Mommy?*

But for now, I write when I can, nap-time, during extra-curricular activities, scribbled in notebooks that are kept...everywhere. And maybe one day when someone asks me what I do my response will not be stay-at home mom, but instead be replaced with author.
