I don't read many love triangle romances, but when B.K. offered an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I decided to give this one a shot. The summary intrigued me! I wasn't disappointed.

The author's writing drew me in from page one. Jemma was such a believable character, and I absolutely adored her granny. I vacillated between wanting to strangle Jordan and wanting to hug him. He's such a difficult character with his addictions and poor-me attitude, but I really enjoyed reading about him. I have such a huge soft spot for the troubled bad-boys. They're so much more realistic to me than the manwhore bad-boys.

I loved how Jemma didn't take any crap from him! From the word go, she stood up for herself and didn't let him get away with anything. She's strong, compassionate, and a really great character.

I enjoyed Vic, but I didn't *love* him. That has more to do with my day job than anything the author did wrong. When firefighters are your coworkers, a little of the mystique wears off. :)

I won't spoil the book for you by telling you who Jemma ultimately chooses, but I will say I cannot wait for the second book!

If you're down for a good love triangle and a few tears, this one is for you.

"Nice crowd," Erin says, her gaze darting around the room before she turns back to me. She pops another cheese fry into her mouth. "Any hotties tonight?"

"The guy in the back." I shift my gaze in his direction, subtly pointing him out to her.

He's in the very back corner of the bar, sitting in a dark booth by himself, nursing a beer. He's been there all night, staring at me. I haven't been able to get a good look at him, but what I have seen? Damn. With dark hair, deep golden skin, and a day's worth of scruff on his face, he's gorgeous. Bold tattoos peek from beneath the arms of the simple black tee he's wearing. He's big, powerful, his jeans and tee stretching over the muscles they encase. If anyone in the bar fits the hottie bill, it's him.

"Damn," Erin says, licking her lips.

"He's been staring at me all night," I grumble, not sure if I'm more irritated or turned on. And that's a mystery in and of itself. Since when did complete strangers make heat pool low in my stomach? Apparently since Tall, Dark and Brooding walked into the bar and parked his fine ass in the corner.

"Of course he has." Erin rolls her eyes. "You look fucking hot."

"Thanks." My jet black hair is up in an intricate braid, and I'm wearing just enough makeup to make my green eyes pop, but my dress is shorter and tighter than I usually wear. I love the way the slinky material feels against my skin. The top is a halter with the bottom barely reaching mid-thigh. The dark purple color seems to shimmer under the lights of the stage. I love the way it looks.

"Hey." Erin grabs Mitch by the hand as he starts to pass by.

"What's up, doll?" he asks, winking at her. Mitch is an incurable flirt. He's also old enough to be her father, but that's never stopped him. In the year I've known him, he's never lacked for female companionship either, so clearly the whole charming rogue thing is working for him.

"The guy in the back. Who is he?"

Mitch turns to look over his shoulder, his light eyes narrowing on the mystery man. "Don't know. Why?" He turns those eyes on me, crossing his arms over his muscular chest. "Is he bothering you?"

"No," I wave him off before he can get all protective. Staring isn't a crime. I don't want the guy tossed out because he's a little too focused on me. "He's fine."

"You sure?"

"Promise." I shoot Mitch a grin before my gaze darts back to the guy.

He's watching me again, and our eyes meet. He doesn't look away, instead boldly holding my gaze.

Screw it. Two can plan this game.

Crossing my arms over my chest, I tip my chin up and narrow my eyes, glaring at him. The corners of his lips lift in a subtle smirk, almost like he knows I'm silently calling him out and is challenging me. I arch a brow, ignoring the little thrill that zings through me at the gleam in his eyes.

God, those eyes.

They're penetrating, captivating. I've never seen such dark gray eyes before, and it's hot.

He is hot, scorching.

The way he watches me with that cocky smirk on his face is dominating. He's in charge, and he knows it. I think my body does too. Heat races through me, my nipples hardening. A bead of sweat rolls down the back of my neck as I clench and unclench my fingers. I'm dying to shift around beneath the weight of his gaze to relieve the ache between my thighs.

The tip of his tongue peeks out from between his lips, and he narrows his eyes at me. He's no longer challenging me to look away first, he's demanding it. Every line of his body screams that command. Heat rolls over me in a wave. Every inch of me burns white hot at the way he's focusing on me, drawing me in…silently demanding I submit.

I drop my gaze to the table, my heart racing.

What the hell?

I take a deep breath and then another. My face is burning hot, probably flushed bright red. When I finally gather the nerve to peek up at him again, it's to see him striding toward the doors, his jeans hugging that fine ass just right. My attention stays glued to him until the door swings closed behind him.

He doesn't look back.

"The hell was that?" Erin asks, tossing a coaster at me.

I startle when it lands against my chest, and then blush.

"That was him offering to strip her naked and fuck her on the table," Mitch says.

My blush deepens.

"Think she would have let him?" Erin teases, grinning at me.

"Fuck yeah, she would have." Mitch throws his head back and laughs loudly when I groan.

I wanted to call my friends and tell them about being on the talk show, but Mom said we had to be at the TV station super early — even before school started. She said I could text them, but I had to turn off my phone and go to bed.

“I’m waking you up at four a.m.,” she said. “You have to be there at five-thirty.”

“Can I just call Peyton and Ashanti? Please?”

“Fine, but you have five minutes and then that phone is mine and you’re in bed.”

I dialed Peyton, but her mom said she was in the shower. I told her mom about the show tomorrow and said my mom wouldn’t let me stay up any later to call Peyton back.

“How exciting! I will make sure Peyton knows, and I will be watching you tomorrow. Good luck, honey,” Mrs. Urich said.

I called Ashanti next and told her.

“Get out. Get. Out. No way. This is so exciting!”

“I’m so nervous. My stomach is already doing cartwheels. I can’t do one, but my stomach can. Seems unfair. What if I throw up before I go on? I did that right before I went on at the statewide Ingénue modeling competition in Detroit, and my mom had to give me a cough drop to cover up the smell.”

 “I’m sure you’ll be fine, but… just in case, take a cough drop with you,” Ashanti said. “Good luck. You’ll be great and I’ll go set the DVR now.”

 I hung up and sent a text to Vladi, India, Devon, Thalia, Tori, and Ericka, so no one would be mad and feel left out. Then I shut off my phone. Mom poked her head in the door to make sure I was in bed.

“Night, hon. Try to get some rest,” she said.

Easier said than done. I stared at my ceiling while thinking about all the things that could possibly go wrong tomorrow. Seeing as the show was on in the morning, I never got to watch it, so I had no idea what the set was like — did it have super high chairs and I’d struggle to get into them? And what if it had those higher stools that were kind of tippy and my rear overshot the seat and I fell off? Or what if the prep questions got lost and the interviewer asked me random things like my feelings on nuclear war or asked me about some foreign political leader who I had never heard of before, and I appeared stupid? Why did I say I’d do this? I tried to get comfortable and it felt like I had just dozed off when I felt my mom shaking my shoulder.

Who is your favorite author?
F. Scott Fitzgerald is my favorite. I had to read The Great Gatsby twice in school, but I didn’t connect to it until I was an adult and then I fell in love with it.

How do you describe your writing style?
I always write with humor and my main characters wear their hearts on their sleeves. My two teen series both deal with self-esteem, growing up/coming of age, and first love.

Use no more than two sentences. Why should we read your book?
Landry in Like will take you back to your school days and make you laugh and feel for her as she grows up and navigates through school. There are funny moments, cringe worthy moments, and life lessons on how to deal with everything from frenemies, first loves, anxiety, and friendships.

If you could exchange lives with any of your characters for a day which character would you choose and why?
I would choose Hadley from Next Door to a Star (Star Series: Book One) because when she moves to a beach town, she has the chance to reinvent herself and start over and that idea is very intriguing to me. Plus, she lives in Grand Haven, Michigan—a beautiful beach town.

What books have most influenced your life?
I read a biography of a YA author, Paula Danziger, years ago and it made me realize that writing young adult fiction was what I was meant to do. It was always something I wanted to do, but I never realized that all those awkward and difficult moments I went through in my teen years might have been setting me up to help another teen in the same situation down the road. That biography shaped my vision of what I wanted to do in life.

Killian stepped forward, forcing her to tilt her head back to look up at him. He still seemed so big to her. He still overwhelmed her. But he didn’t frighten her anymore.

A little voice whispered that if she got too close, he would hurt her as badly as the things in her past hurt. That voice had stopped whispering when he’d kissed her today, and wasn’t that odd?
“You hurt me today.”
He bowed his head, letting his hand fall away from her face. “I’m sorry.”
Her heart ached a little at the agonized way he said it. As if it shamed him to know he’d hurt her. As if, maybe, he cared more than he should too.
“Why did you?” she asked, not accusing, but curious. She wanted to understand him. No, she needed to understand him on some level she couldn’t even explain to herself. “You wanted me, didn’t you?”
His gaze sought hers, honesty shining from his angel-bright eyes. “More than you know.”
Aubrey took a deep breath, letting her lungs fill with air even as her heart filled with his confession. And just as quickly, the buoyant feeling vanished. “It doesn’t change anything, though, does it?” she whispered.
“Do you want it to?”
She hesitated for a long moment, unsure. And then her shoulders slumped, the breath she’d taken expelling in a long sigh. “I’m sorry.”
Killian gave her a sad smile and reached for her again. He swept a finger beneath her eye, collecting the teardrop she hadn’t even realized had fallen. “No apologies,” he whispered, bringing his finger to his mouth. He stuck out the tip of his tongue and lapped that single bead of moisture from his fingertip. “You owe me nothing.”

If that was true, why did she feel like crying?
