1953 Mercury Monarch & 1975 GMC Sierra Grande 3500
"I was pulling to this filling station at Cluny, Alberta on my drive over to Ponteix and here was this late 50's Mercury. Nothing fancy but a fine, handsome sled nevertheless. It looked like the restoration was decades old but she just keeps purring along. I took these shots from the driver's seat, otherwise I would have missed it. (Ed. note: Autoliterate found another Monarch in Vancouver last year.)"The super-clean diesel was at a red light, I got the shot from 6 feet away. The sound of the "stack" was muy macho. Later, AE"

1956 International S-120 Diamonds & Rust
"We stumbled on a vintage truck show in Taos, waypoint on our drive home to LA. Mostly souped up and ugly ones not worthy of autoliterate. but there were two terrific 50s International trucks, this one was my favorite. I'll send photos of the second separately."1956 International S-120 series. Local owner Evan Earl bought it or bartered for it from someone he was working for here in town. It had been abandoned, outdoors - probably most of its 50+ year existence. He got the wheels turning and then the engine running with minimal work. Original engine. Original paint (what's left) and only surface rust.
"I want this truck." --Craig Manning

The old truck hoard, eastern Alberta
"Have a look at this yard which was just south of the Hwy#1 near the turnoff for East Gleichen (Alberta). I have to try and talk to the owner someday, to get permission to take closer photos . Large signs saying Keep Out , Nothing is for sale, No Trespassing, etc. But I have never seen such a cluster of rare , choice old vehicles, just lying around. Sensing a crazy old hoarder dude in the vicinity"--AE

1971 Ford F-150 Ranger
Our man on the prairies, Alex Emond, found this very clean F-150 Ranger in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, not far from the Cypress Hills. I like everything about it except the wheels and those whitewalls. Looks to be the same (factory?) orange as Clementine, a 1971 F 250 whose Montana-to-Massachuseets roadtrip was posted on AL last year.

1974 Ford F-150 Ranger
Our man on the prairies, Alex Emond, found this very clean F-150 Ranger in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, not far from the Cypress Hills. I like everything about it except the wheels and those whitewalls. Maybe 1974? Looks to be the same (factory?) orange as Clementine, a 1971 F 250 whose Montana-to-Massachuseets roadtrip was posted on AL last year.

1930 Ford Woody
I was driving along a back road in Maine when I came upon this machine parked on the shoulder. No one around. Maybe it escaped from a barn. Old cars get restless in Maine, in the spring. Like the '32 Ford woody we liberated from a barn in Blue Hill last spring.
